- So today, Seki sensei, an 8th Dan Iaido Master with 40 years of experience in Musō Shinden Ryu, will demonstrate and explain the differences between Inyō-Shintai and Gyakuté Inyō-Shintai. He will not only perform each Kata on his own, but Tsukada Sensei will help us to understand the opponent’s movements too. If you are a trainee of Musō Shinden Ryu, this video will absolutely help you deepen your understanding of these two Kata.

Today, we only have 100 students. Our dream is to revive the golden age of Asayama Ichiden Ryu while Seki Sensei is still the headmaster. As part of your efforts to preserve the ryuha, do you think Seki Sensei and Tsukada Sensei would be comfortable performing Kata during motion capture? We could start a crowdfund for the costs, and then the captured data could be made available to the public. I acknowledge that nothing beats hands-on training directly from a proper instructor, but I still think this could be really interesting and a smart preservation effort.

In the Kamimoto Ha lineage we call it Inyo Shintai Kaewaza rather than gyakuté.

Here's synopsis of the game: Japan, 1863. Shogo, I was wondering if you've trained in grappling style martial arts and if you have a preference between that and what you are doing now.

weak spot is sheath and unsheathe sword opponent could attack in that spit second when have least control of weapon
so i was wondering, i noticed that in a lot of katas there are walking motions that from the outside seem to have no practical purpose. like in these katas, between where Seki sensei did the shiburi and sheathed his katana. i'm probably just being ignorant, but is there a purpose to these movements?
people need Seki Sensei, because they are too lazy or unable to imagine what they are even doing when they perform Kata.
I don't do Iaido, but when I did Karate Kata, I always visualized the enemies I am fighting against in my mind, that helps understand what the forms are for.
