I've watched several videos about the Atomic Hawx Ultra line-up trying to learn how to adjust the forward lean. Finally, this video at 4:47-5:02 answers the question!

I bought a pair but will use them with ZipFit liners. Have not skied them yet. Great comprehensive review.

Great review again, keep it up! Have you tried the Ultra XTD boot as well? How do they compare? Thx mate!

I havent skied in the XTD, but have been able to have a close look and assess them. Really good boots overall. Great for low volume fit and will give some good skiability for a touring option.

Hey there. Wondering if you know the technique Atomic uses to knock down flex from the 120s model to the 110s. I know the 110 liner is a small step down and the strap is 10mm narrower. Anything else? Is the plastic the same as the 120 (and even the 130)? Thanks.

Great review as always mate! Purchased the Hawx Prime a few months back - any thoughts compared to the Ultra?

      @PatriotFootbeds  7 лет назад +1

Hi Wil, Thanks mate. Yeah the Prime is also a great boot. Not too many differences between them, bit more forgiveness in regards to the fit and also with the sole flex. I should have a pair for review in the next couple of weeks. :) Hope you'll check it out!

Very informative review. Awesome! Any feedback on how they ski in chunder a.k.a. crud conditions vs a heavier boot?

Hi Edgar, yeah no restriction on any snow type, holds as much power as a heavier boot for sure!

Will these be powerful enough to drive a Volkl 100eight (108mm center) powder ski?
-keep up the good work, love ur vids!

No way, don't waste your money. Atomic decided to prioritize the confort and friendly ski boots than a real quality !!!

The womens version of this boot (110) has really been the MVP this winter for us, so good for girls with skinny lower legs and ankles. Especially if they don't want a raceboot.

Would you believe that I had this exact conversation with the Atomic boot engineer at the SIA trade show! I cant actually remember as I took in so much information over 3 days :)
Im pretty sure it is in relation to their updated shell with thinner walls, but now I think about it I might be wrong. I will try get in touch with them again and let you know asap!
      Cheers

I emailed them and they replied extremely fast - the models with an S have the magnesium Power Shift back of cuff piece which gives the boot adjustable flex and adjustable forward lean

Yeah awesome, those guys are on to it. Yeah I thought was power shift. But this one must be an early release as the whole line has the power shift.

@@PatriotFootbeds yes the boot shell are thiner and lighter, helps the boots fitter on its work...but they cracked like crazy!!! Last May at whistler a ski shop showed me about 26 pairs for returning for that reason, mine were among within!!!!! I love Atomic and their products but in the past year something happened with their quality.....

Sorry Craig, I do have the 130 and I'm totally disappointed. After a solid week of skiing they became very similar to Salomon, their 98mm feels like 100mm, liner and boots soft and they stretched soo bad. I strongly believe that some boot makers are sending a very wrong message to the consumer " theres NO out of the box fitting" a good and quality pair of boots has to be fit it to shape of you feet and adapted at the your stands ( lower leg ). I got my Hawks 130 custom fitted three times.....just disappointed, a totally waste of time and money!!!!!!

It sounds like you would be much happier in a race boot option.
That really sucks to hear that they have not held up for you.
Its definitely not the case that you have to do the custom molding, but for many people who's feet dont match the last as well, it gives such a broad range of fit options. You are very lucky indeed if you grab a boot of the shelf and it is perfect, but if you know what you are looking for in a boot, you have a much higher chance :)
