At first when i was a kid, I laughed because I didn't know what went wrong mainly cuz liked humor in the show so much that i would laugh at any scene. Now as someone who is matured and grown up i realised this scene is very impactful. I have dealt with people who have almost ruined my life and they didn't realise the consequences of their actions not only hurting them but it hurt me a lot more. Regular show was a great show with the best humor ever but it also has a lot of deep meaning as you watch the show progress its tone. This was a powerful scene i think in any cartoon that i have watched.
When I first watched this I understood Benson when he was scared in losing his job. I was in Safety Patrol and I got in trouble in something I forgot and I was scared of losing my badge.

Facts! Regular Show was the show that got me to say that Cartoon Network didn’t die and that there were still good quality shows on it! Which got me to give other shows like Steven Universe and Gumball a chance and now I like those aswell
The juxtaposition between how his voice slowly goes from anger to sadness and the body language of the character is so cool. His voice gradually drifts into despair, but it doesnt become visibly apparent until he says "like me!" and suddenly straightens up with that sad look on his face. I'm also just noticing that both the opening and closing lines of this scene are just an incredulous "WHAT."
I love how this scene hits in different ways at the same moment, first you feel sympathy for Benson and then you probably laugh at how he reacts when Mordecai and Rigby just leave him behind
Same, I feel a bit bad for laughing but youre right 😂 Mordecai and Rigby: Were really screwed up. Also Mordecai and Rigby: ditches Benson miles away from the dealership
Props to the voiceactor for doing all the emotions accurately and going all out with it. Rage, Frustration, Sadness, and maybe even a little hurt. Benson's sad crying face hits home with how devestated he sounds.
I can’t think of another cartoon on a kids network that had such a realistically tragic character. Realistic in the sense that he’s a man forced to live a life of mediocrity. He had potential that led him no where, he lives in a crappy little apartment downtown, he struggles with anger issues because of his up bringing, and he constantly has to deal with 2 incompetent employees that cause constant damage yet he just can’t bring himself to fire them. And this dead end job that brings him misery most of the time (because of Mordecai and Rigby mainly) is the only thing he has. According to The Art of Regular Show book Benson was made the boss character because he was literally a machine, and figuratively a cog in the wheel. A man that has to work because he is a part of the machine. In conclusion I just want to give this guy a hug.
That's because regular show is one of the only kids shows set in a normal-ish world, there are a lot of other tragic characters that are better than Benson.
Imagine you were the manager of a business(the park) and you had two employees that were basically man children (Mordecai and Rigby) obsessed with video games, stunts, and how they look more then their daily tasks or jobs in general. And you have to put up with them on a regular basis. That is Benson’s life
@@aze4964 Actually if you think about it, it's kinda hilariously messed up because since Benson and Pops are both voiced by the same actor, he sound like Pops crying.
The craziest thing about this show is that basically every episode shows you what can happen (albeit in crazy ways) if you aren’t a responsible adult and don’t take care of what needs to be done. Looking back it’s like damn somewhere along the lines I became benson.
When your a kid you hate Benson but when you watch this episode and get older, You'll understand the stress and anger he gets from Mordecai and Rigby, the lazy good for nothing slacker duos and show sympathy for Benson sometimes
@@bogdanformercarwashowner9553 You ask that as if Many people didn’t. Ok, maybe hate is a stretch but as a kid I thought he was just an unreasonable guy that got angry all that time for no good reason. Now I see that’s not really the case.
@@bogdanformercarwashowner9553 I think it's because he can seem unreasonable, overly strict and too angry to a younger audience while older fans may be more understanding towards benson.
I never watched this show, but I did have a basic idea of it, and I do remember coming across this scene while channel surfing. I really felt the emotion in it. Poor Benson.
As a kid I thought Benson was too hard on them all the time but looking back 10 years later, you really see he’s just an honest man trying to be successful at his job and having to deal with the constant pressure and consequences of two very lazy and unreliable workers
i first watched this episode when i was around 10 and benson crying upset me so much that i had to lay down. i turned off the tv, went to my room, and i just started crying. i understood his plight
Damn. This hit me harder the third time watching it. Everyone here in the comments saying as a kid they disliked Benson. I did grow up as a teen with this show. Always seeing this on the air. I watched this cartoon all at once (as an adult) and I felt every single rage moment that Benson had. I cried for Benson because I don’t see him as a jerk. Keep in mind, I am 23. I never watched the show full until this year. I see Benson as a person who just wants to keep his job. He wants to work, and he cares. Cut Benson some slack, he’s trying. I don’t think I would want to work with literal children on a job. Especially with Mordecai and Rigby. Sure they may be my sons (as fictional terms), but they are Fucking acting like children. Do you see half the antics they pulled? My ass would be fired. FIRED (oh yes daddy yell at me more). I do see myself in Mordecai and Rigby. Mostly Rigby, because he can be childish, arrogant, selfish and even jealous. That’s what I see myself as. A child. A child who has a long ways of growing up. I know I can grow like Rigby. Be better. (I chose Rigby over Mordecai, because I feel like Mordecai never got better throughout the seasons). Benson is my comfort character because he can be a chill dude when he’s not yelling. Plus his yelling is like- liquid gold to me. Anyways, I hurt for him. He’s only doing his job to save it. Plus Benson is a fucking mood. Each time you pause a frame, you get a fucking FACE. A MOOD. Even in the comics, his facial expressions are still a mood. I cried at this scene because I realized something important to me was snatched away. It really effected me greatly when he said “when are you two going to learn that your actions have consequences?! Consequences that effect other people like me!” And then fucking CRIED because of this last line. Oh man I cried with him, repeating his lines as I cried with him. I don’t know but I feel more connected to fictional characters than real people. I love them. They never seem to disappoint you or anyone else. Benson is a good MAN. With his heart right in the place. Be more like Benson. Benson comes from a family that always yells and argues, and him had a literal ptsd episode. Benson is a tough bitch who is STRONG! I also am NOT a professional but as a person with bipolar, I feel like Benson has bipolar depression. I maybe wrong but that’s another reason why I also resonate with him. Plus, like I said- his yelling is comfort for me. For me (how I relate), I tend to blow up at others and then be super chill afterwards. Scared of losing something really important to her. I suffer from an illness as same as another character that has it. But it’s not established. All I know, Benson is a true man. That’s the man I want. I want a Benson. (Minus bipolar depression) And he needs all the love and support! (I am simp for him. Oop.)
When I was a kid, I thought Benson was a mean, angry jerk who was unreasonable practically all the time. Now, he has every reason to freak out and break down at them.
You gotta love episodes like this one where it's about benson doing stuff whether it's outside of work or during work, especially when you realize how serious he takes his job and that he lives in an apartment, where he basically has nothing
When I was a kid I saw benson as a grump boss who can’t take a joke but when I saw this scene i immediately felt sorry for him and felt mordecai and rigbys guilt, they made the poor working man cry who’s gotten on his knees and begged to keep his job
I’ll admit, I laughed a little before he got to his “like me” part. I know it was a tense moment, but he kept slipping into a Pops and Muscle Man voice. 😂
Benson it's in my opinion the best boss in a cartoon, he takes his job seriously, and everytime he gets angry it's because of a valid reason, he also treats his workers really good when they are not doing anything bad, he helps them out, pass time with them and even make parties or events for them, he knows them well and they actually like him too
@@danatedawg1018 but he gets angry with the others, he even fired Muscle man because of the spray mistake, and gets mad with Skips when he kills Rigby, he usually get mad with mordecai and rigby because those two are actually kind of lazy and bad at work
Looks like even Benson is like Gordon Ramsay. Grumpy, hot-tempered and full of anger, but only ignites it for a good reason, like when people didn't do their job right that caused terrible consequences not only for themselves, but also to others.
When you're young, you think Benson is just an angry asshole but when you get older, you realize that he constantly has to deal with two 23 year old adults who still act like complete children.
This show quietly resembles like SpongeBob Spongebob = Rigby Patrick = mordecai Squidqard = Benson mr krabs = pops Sandy(genius and hardworking) = skips That’s why I love the show very much
now if you'll excuse me i need to take my last bathroom break as an employed man. that line was way to much for my body lol also his crying is so funny
There was a time when I would always think about how much Benson needs to take a chill pill. But after my last job, seeing these Benson clips hits a lot different, especially when you work with the same kind of people you have to come behind because they work a different shift than you.
As a child you hate benson As a teen/adult you soon understand that he’s right he’s done and lost it all and this scene really hits home for it really shows the impact on his whole character
this is the episode that made benson my favourite character his rage is funny, sure, but also understandable, and i could recognise that even when i was younger after this

I miss regular show. Its the best show I have ever seen.
Its definitely not the most powerful scene in any cartoon

Omg the best part
All have sinned and so all are worthy of death and deserve hell, for God’s standard is perfection and none of us could meet it by doing good deeds.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
But God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die in our place as a substitutionary atonement for our sins. He is the only way to Heaven that God has provided. If you believe in Him, then you will be saved.
John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

@@Elli-gl7gu "Selective" continuity
@@visionarycomics4230 joke pal.
The character development in this show is some of the best. This scene really makes you realize that Benson is just a boy with a failed dream.
I love episodes where they show Benson and Mordecai + Rigby getting closer as friends. Busted Cart is one of my very favourite Regular Show episodes.
1:17 when your run away from your lil cousim and he knows you're hiding
Lol I was the little cousin
The juxtaposition between how his voice slowly goes from anger to sadness and the body language of the character is so cool. His voice gradually drifts into despair, but it doesnt become visibly apparent until he says "like me!" and suddenly straightens up with that sad look on his face.
I'm also just noticing that both the opening and closing lines of this scene are just an incredulous "WHAT."
Even as a kid, I didn’t hate Benson. I always understood that he was just trying to do his job, but Mordecai and Rigby would mess up all the time.
His job demands discipline which he fails at.
I love how this scene hits in different ways at the same moment, first you feel sympathy for Benson and then you probably laugh at how he reacts when Mordecai and Rigby just leave him behind
Same, I feel a bit bad for laughing but youre right 😂
Mordecai and Rigby: Were really screwed up.
@derpy433 Sure dude, we all know you don't find Regular Show a masterpiece, why are you here then you moron?
Imagine you were the manager of a business(the park) and you had two employees that were basically man children (Mordecai and Rigby) obsessed with video games, stunts, and how they look more then their daily tasks or jobs in general. And you have to put up with them on a regular basis.
That is Benson’s life

The craziest thing about this show is that basically every episode shows you what can happen (albeit in crazy ways) if you aren’t a responsible adult and don’t take care of what needs to be done. Looking back it’s like damn somewhere along the lines I became benson.
i can honestly hear how hard it is for the VA to even scream properly guy is busting the pipes for us bro
i think him struggling makes this scene more impactful
This scene is a example of how good bensons voice actor is. like the emotion felt real.
Season 3 was pretty much the season when the series was started digging deep
Same case for the Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, Steven Universe and even We Bare Bears to an extent.

This really is one of the most emotional scenes I’ve seen from a “kids” show
When your a kid you hate Benson but when you watch this episode and get older, You'll understand the stress and anger he gets from Mordecai and Rigby, the lazy good for nothing slacker duos and show sympathy for Benson sometimes
I’ve never hated Benson I’ve always liked him
Why would you hate benson as a kid?
@@bogdanformercarwashowner9553 You ask that as if Many people didn’t. Ok, maybe hate is a stretch but as a kid I thought he was just an unreasonable guy that got angry all that time for no good reason. Now I see that’s not really the case.

As a kid I thought Benson was too hard on them all the time but looking back 10 years later, you really see he’s just an honest man trying to be successful at his job and having to deal with the constant pressure and consequences of two very lazy and unreliable workers
I remember this show so well, especially this episode. When I was a child Benson has always been my favourite one and I felt so bad for him

Oop.)
no offense but TLDR

Benson may not be my favorite character but, I can really understand his emotional breakdown.
When I was a kid I saw benson as a grump boss who can’t take a joke but when I saw this scene i immediately felt sorry for him and felt mordecai and rigbys guilt, they made the poor working man cry who’s gotten on his knees and begged to keep his job

Lmao his scream always killed me as a kid
I felt so bad for Benson and so mad at Mordecai and Rigby during this scene.
He just gave up being angry, he was so crushed.
Benson it's in my opinion the best boss in a cartoon, he takes his job seriously, and everytime he gets angry it's because of a valid reason, he also treats his workers really good when they are not doing anything bad, he helps them out, pass time with them and even make parties or events for them, he knows them well and they actually like him too
Eh he gets only mad at mordecai and Rigby usually. However the other members cause shit too

Looks like even Benson is like Gordon Ramsay. Grumpy, hot-tempered and full of anger, but only ignites it for a good reason, like when people didn't do their job right that caused terrible consequences not only for themselves, but also to others.
