This is the first time I'm hearing about his passing. I am saddened by the loss of Boyd. I wish his family and friends all the best. The modeling community will miss him.
As a side note, if any family or friends see this it would be my greatest honor to complete Boyd's Refit build and return the completed model to his family. The build of course would be in tribute to a great man and fantastic Modeler.
Terrible news, may he rest in peace. He was a true icon for many modelers. My condolences to his family and friends. Thank you for your kind words in this video.
I only knew Boyd from his channel, but I felt like he was such nice person who would be friendly with everyone he met. He was obviously a huge talent in his builds. I will miss watching him perform My prayers to his family.
Hi Ensign(sorry, I don't your name); I literally just saw Boyd. On April 24th I met him. I'd purchased his Ultimate Space Battleship Yamato to help support his treatments and went to his house to pick it up. He looked great. He was in good spirits and seemed to be physically recovering and getting stronger. And, I have to say, he was so nice and the coolest older nerd I've ever met. He spent the better part of 6 hours showing me his workspace and his model room while we just talked about everything science fiction and the modeling community. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear he'd just passed away. I will treasure the time I spent with him, the model he made and how amazing his show was. He inspired me to start modeling again and his videos always had great tips on techniques and experiences shared. I will really miss him. RIP Boyd Crompton.
It's a shock. 😢 I thought he was doing better. He was a true inspiration and just a great guy. I loved watching his videos. The modeling community is broken. My prayers are for his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
Yes, very sad news. Great guy and he will be missed...I am watching his 1:350 Enterprise build series. makes me sad to hear his voice and see him work and knowimg we all won't be seeing anymore new builds from him, but it puts a smile on my face at the same time to watch him do his thing. RIP Boyd we love ya and miss you and our thoughts are with your family may happy thoughts of you keep them warm and comforted., and you all..let me say it for Boyd one last time......Happy modeling everyone.
So sad to hear this. Trekworks was the first modelling channel I came across and Boyd's combination of skill and the desire to be helpful to his viewers in passing on tips and explaining how to get around problems made me not only subscribe but frequently view his stuff. I'm sure that is the case for many of us. It is very sad. Thoughts and prayers to his family and all who will miss him.
What some may not know is Boyd used to be really big into RC car racing. I’ve known Boyd for over 30 years. He used to live in my hometown. We spent many days and nights racing together all over Wisconsin and Illinois. He was a great friend of mine. He recently sent me his RC car he raced against me back then. I now have it on display with my car from back then for memories of time gone by and a great friendship.
Very sad news, my sincere condolences to his family and friends. The world has lost one of it's better people,I always enjoyed watching Boyd and his marvelous gift for making excellence look simple. Thank you Will for posting this loss,we will all remember Boyd Fondly, R.I.P.
Appreciate you taking the time to let us know. Very sad news. Boyd also inspired and motivated me back into model building. He lives on in our hearts and on his RUclips channel!
So saddened by this. Boyd was an inspiration to me, as he was to so many other modellers. A master craftsman and a thoroughly decent and kind human being.
He was an amazing inspiration and a fantastic model builder. I'll remember him fondly. He inspired me to get back into building models and the reason I created my channel. I'll miss him greatly but he will never be forgotten! Rest In Peace Boyd!
He was a huge inspiration. His wisdom and knowledge were immeasurable. He was a great talent. I always watched his youtube builds for guidance and I hope that his instructional builds will remain on youtube so that others can learn from his instructional wisdom and continue to inspire. I learned so much from him and it really helped me improve my builds. We will all miss him.
Hey will , please let us know when you do a tribute to Boyd...love to see that, Thanks. By the way for your kind words about Boyd, it's great to see the modeling community leave awesome comments and pay tribute to agreat guy and an awesome fellow model builder...you're awesome dude. take care.
I really don't know what to say! I'm shocked to hear the news and sad to learn this. Boyd was one of the best modelers I ever had the pleasure of knowing
I'm so sorry about his passing. He did seem upbeat with his update videos and thought he'd pull through. How he presented and worked on his models made it seem like anyone could get into modeling. His TOS Enterprise builds were an inspiration for me to get back into the hobby. He will surely be missed. Condolences to his family and loved ones.
Absolutely ... Boyd was an amazing artist and patient man when it came to corresponding with his viewers. He helped me on a number of occasions and it hurts my heart that he's no longer with us. RIP Boyd.
To Boyd Crompton he was the best model builder on RUclips and reaching out to help and give tips on building models I've been a subscriber for years and learned a lot from him RIP my Friend you will be missed.
We have lost another top model builder who like Ian would help anybody his modelling and painting skills were unmatched rest in peace Boyd and keep on Trekin on your next journey, you will be missed
I am so saddened to hear about Boyd’s passing. Boyd and yourself have been great teachers for me in this hobby. Honestly, I would not have been able to reach my goals without his and your guidance. My condolences to all affected by this unfortunate news.
I also appreciate the time you took to let us know! Also my most sincere condolences to the family of Boyd’s to the friends and to all of those whom followed him and admired his work and his passion for the hobby! I’m sad also and surprised!
I just saw a mention of Boyd on The Ensign's Chair Channel and popped up over here after doing a quick "TrekWorks" search. I had NO IDEA Boyd had passed away, or that his illness was that bad. I'm at a loss right now. Not gonna mention celebrity deaths because those are just names you know NOT people you know personally. I enjoyed watching Boyd's channel and interacting although it had slowed up in the last few years. Had no idea he was fighting an aggressive cancer. Hard to say much more because it would sound -- corny. I can't imagine this isn't hurting this small modeling community. I don't have a bad thing to say about the guy and I hope his family is coping well.
I learned after this that it wasn't the Cancer itself that Boyd passed from, he was doing well and was beating the cancer. He contracted a lung infection, or pneumonia, and this is what he succumbed to, though the cancer treatments I'm sure, weakened his immune system. He will be dearly missed.
Jake, thanks for that information! I'd be surprised if the cancer treatments weren't a contributing factor. It was a surprise to me because he seemed so positive in his recovery.
@@theensignschair I talked to his wife, and his body was weak, but she said it was the sepsis that did him in, he was doing very well with the treatments
@@theensignschair no problem, it is a very big loss to the community, he taught me everything I know, I still go back and reference his videos! He was my best friend and an excellent mentor!

Damn. I really thought he was going to beat it.
He did too, I wish I had reached out again, I looked at the last time I communicated with him and it was actually April, time flew by so fast.

Sad news indeed

Just FYI, his wife said it wasn’t the cancer that he passed from, it was pneumonia and he went septic and that’s what caused him to pass
