The Romans dispized him and when they captured him they did to him what was done to Jesus- they then crucified him!
In the archives in Rome there is a report from Judea from the Commander of the occupation telling in great detail what the punishment was concerning the High Priest of the Jews so that Caesar would know how his enemy had died!

Great stuff Brandon, thanks for this! If I remember right (it's been awhile since I looked at this stuff!), the high priesthood was corrupted when it stopped being a Levite in the role and instead just went to the highest bidder during Antiochis Epiphenes reign. Moving forward it became less of a religious role and more of an administrative/political one and is what we see Caiaphas as fulfilling.

Thank you! So much for pulling in the theoretical model of Caiaphas's palace. In the dungeon basement of Caiaphas's palace. in Isreal, where the temple guard held Jesus, i had a most powerful moment with The HOLY SPIRIT. The original floor there has streaks of red in the yellow-tan-brown stones. i was alone, on my knees, trying to photograph a stone's red streak in a certain light when my entire being was arrested by the thought that JESUS'S blood could have been upon that red in the stone as well. It is a treasured picture.

From what I understood about the way Rome governed its provinces, they would bring the children of kings or tetrarchs to Rome to educate them in the Roman manner. That way, if a tetrarch begins to be troublesome (or a High Priest), they always have legitimate successors who owed Rome for their nomination to put in their place. Maybe that's why Caiaphas speaks in the show with a "Roman" (American) accent instead of a "Jewish" accent?

Being born at about 6 B.C. means that Seneca was about the same age as Jesus. Therefore, he was about 30 at the time of Christ's ministry, and had just returned to Rome from Egypt where he was treated for tuberculosis. I'm afraid quoting him in that show is an anachronism, since Seneca was not even a senator yet and only began to write in the 40's A.D.

Keep in mind, “The Law” is The Law of Moses. The Jewish priestly leadership corrupted what Father meant as the revelation of His Son, His Unconditional Love, and turned it into a “HoneyDoList” of performance and obedience. And it suited The Roman Empire as it still does today.

It was not John who entered the house of Annas with the help of the servant of the High Priest. He was most likely one of Jesus His disciples in Jerusalem, and if he was the same disciple as the beloved one, he is not to equate with John of the twelve. Look for Ben Witherington III take on it. The tradition about John has been wrongly understood by known church fathers around the end of the 1st century and beyond.

I have been studying the position of the high priest. Zachariah, John the Baptist Dad was a High Priest.
    In Luke chapter one
It describes that there is more than one High Priest and it was Zachariah's turn to light the incense.
Anas was the other High Priest at that time. So therefore there were two High Priests in case one dropped dead.
Zachariah was slain between the Temple and the altar therefore, he wasn't killed by God in the Holy of Holies.
I question whether Caiaphas killed him for that position since he was the one who took his place.
I am following scriptures not history because the scriptures state that people pay people to change what is said in history.
    I find this interesting

      😂 u r wrong at this point.
Zakariyahu was not a High priest.
      ‭Luke 1:8-9
[8] Now while Zechariah was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, [9] he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the holy place of the Lord and burn incense.
he was just a priest of the division of Abiyahu. ( one of 24 divisions of priests under the high priest cf. 1 Chron. 24)
He did only enter into the Holy place , not the Holy of holies.....❤

      Before God…

Why? So he wouldn’t drop dead.
      This was serious stuff…
Don’t read some passion or message or other translation that are just translated thought by thought and Not word by word like the KJV.
An Angel appeared to him that nobody else could see. So he had to be behind the curtain.

@@SarahLymburner u r hilarious, even KJV says priest, no high priest.
And I think u haven't see any model of the Temple.
In the building, there are 2 rooms. One, holy place, that has incense altar( Angel appearance) , Menorah, and Table of showbread.
Behind the big veil, is the Most holy place, that didn't have the Ark at that time.
People are not standing inside the house itself, rather outside the house, waiting for the priest to come out.
Of course when the High priest who at that period was Anna's and Caiphas both( it's all power hungry people) went inside the Most holy place behind the veil, ONCE a year, people will wait outside the house or Temple itself.
Otherwise, where they'll stand??? No-one except the levites and others allowed can enter this court and come such close to the Temple. So, even the people standing outside praying r not common people.

    • @sciencescholar3440
      @sciencescholar3440 3 месяца назад

@@SarahLymburner passion and message and such r very new and very loose translations , ofcourse they cannot be used for study. because u will never know if you are reading the author's words or the translator's.
But KJV is fine if you can understand it well. Btw, much better is NKJV, considering the change that English language has gone through. meanings have changed of many words.
I would recommend thorough reading of Moses and prophets, because without that background u will understand
Why Zechariah is of the Order or division of Abijah.
      1st Chronicles 24
