HOW TO BUILD A 500PS+ 8P RS3 [STAGE 3, HYBRID TURBO, WAVETRAC LSD, BILSTEIN, VERKLINE & MORE]

  • Do you want 500PS+ from your 8P RS3? This customer dropped off his 8P RS3 after wanting to go to Stage 3. Stage 3 typically entails a larger turbocharger, amongst other supporting upgrades.
    This customer commented on oil consumption, which mixed with our pre-tuning health checks and oil in the intake and in the engine bay lead us to believe that there were issues in the bottom end and before we could install the upgrades or tune, we should investigate and possibly build the engine.
    Upon inspection, the bores showed wear and material transfer. The decision was made to oversize the bore and install Mahle Motorsport pistons and forged connecting rods to solve the issues and upgrade away from the factory items which can fail with the higher output. All of the associated tolerances were checked and adjusted as required.
    Whilst there are many turbo options for Stage 3, this customer opted for a fast spooling turbo which gives instantaneous low-down response with an excellent top-end. A combination that would see BIG gains all across the rev range, without any losses, whereas with a larger hybrid you'd have to accept the lazier response as a swap for a better top-end power output, should the customer want to upgrade later-on, the engine is built.
    At the same time a Milltek cat-back exhaust was installed to replace the factory cat-back which would be restrictive at this power level alongside 200-cell HJS cats installed into the second position for emission compliance.
    Handling is taken care of with BILSTEIN B14 coilovers which optimises the damping and spring-rates with coilover adjustment to get the ride height set to the customers preference. At the same time H&R anti-roll bars are installed to fine-tune the balance with Verkline and RacingLine adjustable drop-links set to setup the length correctly with the lower ride height.
    For cooling Forge Motorpsorts's intercooler replaces the unknown intercooler which was already fitted, which will helps to keep the charge temps consistently cool and a HEL oil cooler kit is installed to help keep the oil consistently cool.
    🔴 Baseline output = 395HP & 428lbfts (400PS & 580NM)
    🟢 Max gains = +105HP & 92lbfts (106PS & 124NM)
    🟢 Peak gains = +104HP & +58lbfts (105PS & 78NM)
    🟢 Max output = 499HP & 486lbfts (506PS & 658NM)

    Hello guys, we try to upgrade the injector to 8v but is totally different the gasoline ramp, how you do this adaptation? Congrats for the video, amazing job.

    Great work! Very nice guys. But, im confused. This engine 5cyl 2.5 tfsi also brings the problem of excessive oil consumption like the 2.0tfsi?😑

      Lots of cars can have this issue, overheated oil, poor quality oil, long maintenance

    Would this not be much easier to reach on the 8V compared to the 8P? Or is the engine not that much different?

      Yes it sure is! Full intake, intercooler and downpipe can see above 500HP with a DSG + ECU tune. Which we have also done a few times, checkout our other videos :)

    ive been thinking of getting an 8p rs3, is the uprated hpfp the only fuelling mod needed to get over 500bhp?

    How come you guys used 10w40 first and then 10w60? Also why 10W? Shouldn’t you have used 5w40? Most of VW Audi cars take 5w40. I guess because it’s forged and tuned? Thanks.

      I believe the 10w40 was mineral running in oil, this oil helps to bed in and break in various items within the engine after being built. Then when ran at full load, we went for the 10w60.
      When you increase the output, the clearances need to be optimised for the use case. So we changed the oil to fit our customers use case and build spec.

      @@RegalAutosport ohh i think i've heard this before that when you build an engine you have to use different type of viscosity until the first 1000miles or so that you will need to drain the oil again.

      but for how long... who knows! This engine would not have run 525HP / 675NM for long with poor cylinder shape and pickup on the piston.

    All that money, I would've at least changed out the front and rear upper shock mount/bushings and front strut bearings. Also replace all the bushings with polyurethane, upgrade the rear toe control arms with adjustable and new rear swaybar bushings. cool build 😎
