- What does a renowned designer, HGTV star, and vintage architecture lover do when given the opportunity to make over a home with no clients, no TV crew, and an unusual amount of free time? Leanne Ford dove right into this journey last spring when she decided to flip a house in her beloved hometown of Pittsburgh.
Lucky for us-and you!-Ford brought House Beautiful along to film the whole thing. Eight months, thousands of paint swatches, and a few, er, unexpected hurdles (like, removing an entire second floor) later, she's ready to unveil her charming update of a classic Sears, Roebuck & Co. bungalow.

This IS different, but great to see Leanne staying true to herself with those crisp whites, warm tones and gorgeous textures! Warm, elevated, casual luxury, the only designer I know who can make white look so warm and "livable" 😃LOVE it! From South Africa with love 🇿🇦😇
I love Leanne’s joy for her projects , she inspires and I’m glad to see a designer celebrating her roots and bringing old things into new life. Leanne has not let her style become dictated by trends , she just does what makes her happy and lets her creative flow.
I think it looks fantastic. Warm, cozy, and unique. I am so tired of seeing cookie-cutter renovations.
I love Leanne she is a breath of fresh air!!! Different? Of course!!!!. And she works great with her brother. Her personality shines within each house she does even if the house is not hers. I miss her shows. I miss her, because of the house she is for each person.
Looks great for a photo shoot but not very livable. Way too much white for my taste and not enough places for books or a cup of coffee.
Boy, does she give me Diane Keaton vibes..........

This is a stunning home with history and warmth plus it’s a more realistic size than all these 6,000 sq ft builder-grade homes with zero soul or design we see all over social media. Let’s normalize “smaller” homes!
I like it all cept the boucle chairs and couch don’t go with the era of the house/decor. Should be in a more modern house. Don’t force it, if you want that style furniture buy a house that suits it.

I adore those tiles, sounds like she did them herself. Would love to see a tutorial on that project. I have wondered if I could make "stones" out of paper mache or plaster and do a faux finish on them to simulate the stone walls or backsplashes she often does. It's those natural organic textures that give me the shivers/goosebumps! Love her style!!
This is gorgeous, but not digging the curvy furniture, doesn't suit the space at all. Also, love listening to you, but ditch the awful competing "music"

The two kid-size chairs pulled up to the coffee table in the basement...."adorable" is the only term that fits!

Brilliant all the way through. Particularly love how you made the headboard longer than the bed and included the side tables/lamps all in one tableau. Never seen that before. I would have put the curving sofa on the dining room side and angled it; the chairs near the windows to more invite in the outside. one chair probably would snug nicely into the corner to the right of the fireplace...with the other set in accordingly. Congratulations.
I love how she's able to use so much white without it feeling sterile. I normally don't like all white because it doesn't feel homey to me but this, wow!

Whatever character that could have been put back into this historical home is NOWHERE to be seen. It looks identical to be the thousand cookie-cutter houses in my new-build neighborhood. I initially thought the furniture came from IKEA and Target, wasn’t surprised to hear it’s all from C&B. My girl needs to get off of Instagram, it’s really messing with her style intuition.
EDIT: the basement was everything I wanted in a Ford house… See those walls= *character*!
To my eyes, this home is loaded with character.To each their own...
Well she has a collaboration with C&B... so there's that. ;). Oh, and agreed. I see nothing historic about the interior of this home at all. I really used to love Leanne's style, but this house just felt like a revamp of Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic ....the later years....
Beautiful home, design and decor.
No colour. No window coverings = no privacy. Not enough counter space in the kitchen. Nothing on the walls. Ugh Cold and sterile.

The only thing I liked is the basement. You should have respected the style of the house so it wouldn’t punch you back.
This is beautiful, but I have no idea how they could make this financially work in Pittsburgh. It seems like all the cost to renovate this home and add a second floor are probably way more than the home is worth
I enjoy seeing what she does with rooms. That way I know what not to do. I am not a fan of all white, I like some earthy real wood should bring in warmth into any room.
i feel weird to criticize but all the charm was lost...the kitchen is tiny, everything is just too disjointed to me and everything is creamy white. maybe it is considered serene but to me, boring and monotonous. neither does it feel "plush". i did loooove the backsplash but that was the only element

I’m a Ford fan but this lacked depth and creativity. It looks many projects Leanne’s done before sans second floor removal. The level of effort to achieve this outcome was actually very disappointing and predictable.
Leanne nailed the design. Her style is funky, boho, vintage, farmhouse, glam and most of all comfortable. The kitchen is incredible. The use of the white washed countertops and that hand made backsplash tile is amazing. Her home is light and bright, warm and beyond stunning.
Beautiful. Never seen a basement that I wanted to spend time in until now.
I appreciated some small choices made that were present in the images taken but that weren't discuss in the comprehensibly short video. The use of the small chairs is an appropriate play of scales that also acts as a design accent and makes the whole project more warm and curated. The spaces are well thought as a whole and also in relation to each other which is not always the case for other designers. Congratulation.

Incredible in so many ways! Fresh yet vintage and classic. Magic! (Except the dead brown hydrangeas all over the kitchen symbolize death. No dried flowers, such bad fang shui :) The white bright lightness of this project is amazing.

Definitely intrigued by the floors, the countertop, and the Surecrete idea. And I would for sure do a "wetroom" bath. The separate but double sinks and vintage doors work for me. I really don't picture the kids hanging out in that basement. And it's hard to belief that peaked tower couldn't be saved.
Since her show ended I completely forgot about how much I loved her decorating. Her interaction with her brother was so fun & they make a great team. Leanne, you are amazing, so talented & I could watch your videos forever. Happy to subscribe & look forward to more beautiful decorating.
