If you’ve ever done mushrooms, acid, dmt or any hallucinogen, the phrase “I realise for the first time, what it is that I actually do for a living.” has more depth and weight than those words can hold. He had a great lesson about his purpose from that experience. Damn, wish I was there. D.C’s Finest!
Absolutely! To be in that mindset and have that perspective is really necessary for almost everyone who needs to appreciate certain things in life! Don’t get me wrong, it can be scary and intimidating but if you can work with it and use it to your advantage it’s amazing!

Love that we've gotten to a place where people can be more open about psychedelics instead of hiding it from the public or barely speaking on it. Usually in code. This is why podcasts have become amazing for many artists and comedians.

I like how when Dave Chappelle does his bit, it turns out to be a story that comes full circle w/ a punchline that gives the listener some type of 'new awakening'... You might as well call it a parable (for the lack of a better term) 😅

The jazz instrumental in the background reminds me of driving through NYC on like a rainy day
It reminded me of early fall just hanging out. I have a bugged out story like that, hanging with an old college friend I bumped into, happenstance, just walking around NY enjoying the day.
We ended up, uninvited, at a private party close to Soho with some celebrities kicking it, high as hell, on weed though. It was in the 90s as well. I remember Laurence Fishburne on the floor dancing having fun, no one sweating his celebrity.
Just like Richard Pryor, Dave has elevated comedy. Listening to his voice alone is like sniffing one line of some excellent yay, following it up with some really sweet weed, then ending it with a Jameo shot. Ya hurrrrd!!!!

I remember from the Block Party movie, that 'Round Midnight' was the one song Dave could play despite not having any lessons. Questlove told the story of him being able to play it if my memory is correct. Fitting that is the song for the podcast. I dig it.

MAN, as an artist, I wish I thought of this format. I'm documenting the life of a friend of mine who has a great voice. He was a gangster in the 90s and a style like this would have been great.
