The majority of the trucks shown in this video are Tatra 813, made in the Czech Republic. Tatra dominate European truck trials and have won the Paris-Dakar rally a number of times :)
Don't worry about engines ;) All Diesel engines should make some smoke ;) these are super charged and intecooled, and have two times more fuel, power an nM are need here ;]
Been to any 24 hour endurance races recently? How much crap does the pump fuel running in Le Mans cars put out in the 24 hours compared to a little truck trial. Oh and some of the race cars run diesel these days too ;)
You got more space for cargo and the load was distributed over all 4 axles a lot better... if you had to cross terrain like this in the military, you'd call engineers to make a road for you anyway :) It's not much of a problem in truck trial since everyone in this class (at least in Czech Republic) drives the same truck.
Haha, at 2:54 a truck gets stopped dead in its tracks by mother earth...then some quality Avril Lavigne at 2:59. Wouldn't have pegged her as the artist of choice for such an event.

Isn't the radiator, fan and engine up the front? - I know radiators can be moved around, but engine re-location is pretty major.
Not great,when comparred with Czech Tatra and Soviet offroad trucks.Plus,they are not as reliable as Tatra and soviet trucks.
