If one of the trucks were to hit and knock over one of the gates (the little broom stick thingy to mark the course), how do the course officials know where to put it back so it's in the exact same position for the next team? Sometimes they don't even have to hit the stick. The mud dispersion is enough to move it or knock it over. Even though these are massive vehicles, this is still a sport of inches. If the gate position changes even by a few inches at a time, this could possibly be an advantage or disadvantage to the next team.
Hi, in fact, it’s not complicated, bud there are many ways to complete the race. Trucks doesn’t have to ride through every gate. The strategy is up to a team (pilot, co-pilot, could be second co-pilot). But, if they decide to skip one or more of the gates, they recieve penalty points. The winner is that team, who has as few of these points as possible.
Now about the gate markers; if truck hit, move or completely destroy one of these sticks, track supervisor is able to replace it with a new one. It’s supposed to be on similar place, but it doesn’t have to. It is mainly about distance between those two sticks.
Once drove a 6 wheel drive Ford 9000 truck with bobtail 3000 gallon fuel tank used for fueling heavy equipment. What a blast it was to drive, it was lifted with oversized tires to work in sand pits.
