That is also an underground facility. The people there do not have any immunity built up in their bodies at all to survive any radiation. Therefore the cannot walk on the face of the Earth without a hazmat suit. Or getting bone marrow treatments from others that do have radiation immunity. They always used to use the grounders and Lexa's people to experiment these treatment's on. Until they learned that spacekru had far better radiation immunity that could allow all the people in the mountain to finally survive and live on the ground. But in order to do that they would have to take all of the bone marrow from all of spacekru resulting in them all dying. So in order for Clarke and Bellemy to get their people out of there when they didn't have many people to fight to save our people once Lexa betrayed them and left taking all of her fighters with her. Clarke and Bellemy pulled a lever to let the air come in from outside which was a genocide to the entire mountain weather civilization but it saved not only all of her people that were there but also all of their people they had planned to go capture and use for their bone marrow treatments.
