This episode was confusing cause I couldn’t work out who was in the right! I mean I definitely felt sorry for Lorelai, but then she was going on and on about the golfing trip ad nauseam, which made it hard to root for her completely. Anyway I guess I have to hand it to the writers, the characters are FLAWED which makes them feel REAL, which is GOOD writing so claps all round I guess. I’m thinking of taking on Gossip Girl alongside this series, what do ya’ll think about that? I have NEVER watched it, and I’m TERRIFIED. Thanks for being here, k bye. X

Of all the characters I’ve come to hate in adulthood, Jackson is #1 but the reason why doesn’t happen until 7 seasons later. But he’s really whiny up to being irredeemable. Also it’s the kind of thing that needs a trigger warning so there’s that
The Norman Mailer thing is Amy Sherman Palldino being evil. You will probably stop watching upon learning that triggering info (stabbing of Adele) and I would not blame you. I only recently found out how insanely awful that was. If I hadn’t have said though you would never know looking it up bc like the show illustrates, if you’re a good author, it’s just a faux pas you attempt to end your wife. Secondary to your works and doesn’t immediately come up in a google search. Really awful stuff

Fwiw I don’t think Lorelai is jealous bc Richard gets along with Rory so we’ll, I think she’s upset that Rory enjoys the things she ran so far away from bc it’s the first wrinkle in their bond

This wasn't Lorelai's finest hour, but there are some reasons for that.
This episode had one of my favorite Lorelai bits.
Emily: "I think we should get her a membership at the club, don't you? I mean somewhere to go and socialize, that's very important to a young girl."
Lorelai: "Yeah well now, especially that the crack den has closed down on the corner, all her really good friends are gone."

Does it bother just me that any time a female character (specially teens) have "liking reading books" as a character trait ppl immediately perceive them as a "I'm not like other girls" girl?
I hear you. My observation was based on the perceived smugness I got from Rory in episode 1, but I’m happy to be proven wrong!
