The middle class is not a victim here. The middle class constitutes 31% of the Indian population. Burden on 1.4% salaried tax payer.
Out of Total 6.22 crores Income Tax Returns filed, 4.29 crores paid ZERO Income tax, leaving 1.93 crore individuals to pay Income Tax.
Just 2.24 crore Indians or 1.6% of the population paid tax, including income tax and corporate tax, in 2022-23, according to data shared by the government in 2023.
The salaried 1.4% (1.93 crores) guys are victims here, they pay 33% income tax plus 18% to 28% GST which constitute 51% to 61% total tax. The rest of the 30% middle class is paying indirect tax (GST).

It is widely said nationwide that merely 4 Crore peiple pay the tax and around 8 crore file the return in India whose population is around 140 crore.

Farmer's needs to be taxed according to their income. Lot of people hide their income by showing fake documents. And even wealthy farmers earn in crores but pay zero tax. I don't who will do this reform as it is very sensitive issue. In India, even good farm laws are opposed without any knowledge.
