This design is very good, too safe to be a RBMK reactot, nice work. The only way to blow it up is by cutting the cooling system (the water in the steam channels) very nice work

I discovered that is not necessary to change the neutron source everytime you start the reactor, the xenon burns when I left the U-235 fuel rod there, so it's the safest design in the world
Well yeah you can leave the neutron source in there , but that is just one less fuel source in the reactor which can contribute to more heat , so you are basically reducing the efficiency of the reactor (kind of ...)
@@SavageVegeta I mean if you put the neutron source in the reactor, and then change it to U-235 and turn it on without changing the U-235 with the neutron source again, you can turn it on and the reaction will start, it obviusly is less effective than the method in the video, and what I mentioned only works if the reactor has neutron reflectors... The RBMK reactor is cool but it would be cool too if the Nuclear Tech mod developer added a PWR (Pressurized Water Reactor) reactor with steam generator (Heat Exchanger), and other things!

i don't know if this is due to the mod updating or not but the design did not work. Skin temperature wouldn't rise above 142 even in the rods closest to the middle. Edit: switching to a stronger neutron source made it work, skin temp of fuel is now ~900 and all steam channels are 601-603, stable and enough for steam generation.
This design had a flaw that I learned the hard way in a survival world weeks ago . If the power keeps risings not the az5 neither traditional rod control will save the reactor . Cause the very side fuel rods that don't have control rods will generate enough neutrons to keep the reaction by themselves . This may not blow the reactor if it's not already on the very limit but it's something it shouldn't happen
But the thing is the temperature / power won't keep on rising , on the other hand the power will fall once the rods become more and more depleted. Plus the water in 2 BAT's reaches saturation when running the reactor on UDS but if you really want to then adding 2 more BAT's with Infinite water tanks can be done to ensure that there is no shortage of water !!

I already reached a moment that too many neutrons were creating even to achieve criticality the rods by themselves . In the worst case scenario with strong fuels maybe only coolant would save enough time to remove them by hand
By including 4 more fuel rod modules in the corners and replacing the neutron absorbers with reflectors it'll be pretty easy to absolutely push this reactor to its limits

Man I don't know why but when I start a new survival world Im a little bit lost on choosing witch mod to begin with usualy I use some other mods in the beginning like thinker construct to make some advanced tools to mine after having a decent amount of resources then I start using all the mods like hbm's mod
Btw I made that reactor and blow it up to see the damage will do. After it blow the melded fuel went in the ground, after that I used worldedit to remove some layers. The coreblestone was EVERYWERE, when I say EVERYWERE I mean EVERYWERE. Try to not blow that reactor I am telling you!
for obtaining waste quickly I would recommend checking out some depleting RBMK reactor designs as they run very hot therefore deplete the fuel faster than bigger reactors. Other than that every reactor will deplete fuel with different rates depending on the design you went with

I am not very sure about this but probably think that it's cause either you forgot to place either the neutron absorbers / neutron emitters and due to that radiation is leaking out. Other then that I think it can be due to the not pulling out the rods completely the temperature of the reactor isn't reaching its max numbers so there is some Xenon buildup ... but that's very unlikely as even with 80% of the rods out all the columns should be easily above 1k degrees centigrade ...

it is a visual glitch in the 1.12.2 reloaded version of the mod and has nothing to do with reasim game rule I highly recommend you to download the NTM Extended version and in there this problem is solved !!

I use the latest version of HBMs from GitHub , I don't check Curseforge updated for HBMs tbh. As for the motivation behind building them , I don't make RBMKs for energy , I build em so I can melt them down and let the corium infect the villagers ❤️

have you made an effective 1.7.10 fusion reactor model? it would be cool to be able to have this RBMK reactor power a fusion reactor in the same base, im not sure if the fusion reactors have changed since i last used one in 2022.

Using the most basic fuel you can make a self sustaining fusion setup ez. Only thing you need to take care of is changing the blanket once it is near the end of its durability
Make sure you place RBMK cover on every column and the outer periphery of the reactor should be closed with rbmk reflectors/absorber making sure that there is no open path for neutrons to escape
I built this one in my NPP, I did some upgrades on it so it produces around 60MH/s but it lags the game so badddddddd. Is there some solve for it because I have a good PC, and im running like at 10 FPS. I play on 1.12.2
I recommend using NTM Extended instead of NTM Reloaded for the fps issue ... In the newer updates of ntm extended RBMK performance has been improved quite alot.

With the new fluid system that isn't an issue but when this video was uploaded it was a significant error Also yes there are no downsides to using the RBMK coolers anyways so I guess yes using them or not is totally upto you !
@@SavageVegeta to be totally honest i knew that you messed up its in the thumbnail 2 water tanks arent enough for a 15x15 hot running reactor i still used a auxiliary cooling tower as it can support my 2 tanks that dont have infinite water tanks

Why is it that when I insert RBMK 226 into the center and expose the rods to 75%, I have no reaction. I play on 1.12.2 of the full version (1.9.8), however, I insert 75% rods into the center of 238 and everything is fine.
It is a visual bug in the 1.12.2 Reloaded version of the mod, your reactor should work fine otherwise. You can connect the steam pipes from the top of the steam channel and that way you won't need to use the steam connectors. I have made a vid on 1.12.2 RBMK so you can check that out and also try using NTM Extended as this visual bug is solved in that version afaik

Hmm that's weird , cause like all you need to start the reactor is a neutron source in the middle and the chain reaction should begin. I can't tell more before taking a look at what you're doing I guess you can check your ducts and steam connectors to see if they are connected properly to your turbines , maybe that's why the reactor isn't producing power
is this reactor for short time use only? i counted more or less 50 seconds to 80 seconds before it needs to be turned off because the water ran out (using full BAT and heavy infinite water tank)
Well have 4 tanks instead of 2 , and definitely replace the auxiliary cooling tower with one or two big cooling towers and that should solve the water issue hopefully

Hey man, I built this on a Chernobyl map I have downloaded, but the turbines aren't spinning when everything is hooked up fine. I am on 1.12 for reference, I'm wondering what I should try to get it running? Along with the turbines not spinning, it is not producing any power or heating up.
1.12.2 has some fluid duct features which are different than 1.7.10 HBM or maybe the steam ducts you set are not same as the steam your boilers are producing , that is one of the most common mistake most of us make when making an RBMK. Now I am gonna upload a video today after like 5 hours , it is a Breeding RBMK reactor in 1.12.2 and produces 8 MHE/s ... maybe that should clear your confusion
when i interact with my steam channel,there is water in it but on the rbmk console it says that there is no feedwater,also do i need to follow how long the water duct and the ultra dense steam duct should be?
Which version of minecraft are you playing this on?? cause in 1.12.2 some features maybe missing. And if you are making this reactor then increase the amount of water tanks drastically and you can get rid of one set of turbines as only 4 are enough to process all the steam

When I cut off water to see what happens I was stunned by the fact the rods were jumping up and down when it was near meltdown just like in chernobyl. Cause you're playing on the 1.12.2 version of the mod , it has this visual glitch. You can connect the water ducts on bottom and steam ducts on the top to solve this problem !

Use an "HE to RF" convertor and it should work directly , it is available in HBM mod. However if it doesn't work then convert the HE to RF first and then convert the RF to EU.
It's a problem with HBMs reloaded , I've been told it's a visual bug so it shouldn't affect the performance of the reactor , even tho it looks like it doesn't connect still it'll transfer water and get steam out
It probably can be , link an RBMK wrench to a reactor and then try right clicking on two crane consoles , hopefully that shouldn't spawn 2 cranes and both of them should be linked to a single system

I think storage columns have not been added in HBMs reloaded just like how RBMK cranes have not been added. There are still alot of missing features which probabl;y won't be added in HBMs Reloaded :(

Actually before the crane was added loading and unloading the fuel by hand was the only option So yeah the crane doesn't contribute anything in making the reactor explode :)
The steam connectors not connecting with pipes is a visual glitch , they connect it just looks like they don't. As for reactor exploding I think it's enough water not reaching the central boilers as they run very hot , one of my friends pointed that out earlier

So you can try that if you wanna , with the water ducts looking like that haven't connected run the RBMK and if there is no output steam then you can shut it down before it explodes
I think both of the questions are the same ... will this reactor work in 1.12.2 HBMs reloaded basically Truth be told I haven't built as many reactors in that version so I don't have much idea but the design itself is not very reactive so you can definitely give it a try , just make sure to increase the number of water tanks and cooling towers in order to ensure your reactor doesn't run out of water. I am going to begin working on a 15x15 Reasim RBMK reactor soon and that design you can most definitely make in any version of HBMs
@@SavageVegeta I built this in 1.12.2, and it explodes after 30 seconds, i gave this build two cooling towers and it still explodes, i tried doing everything and it still doesnt work! I noticed that the main issue is heat, after the temperature rises to about ~1600 or sometimes 2800 it explodes.
I haven't been able to make one that is actually useful for providing alot of power so idk man ... plus making them runs the risk of digamma spear falling from the sky and literally killing you so yeah I didn't give digamma reactors much of a try

If playing with HBMs I guess you should use BuildCraft and Thermal Expansion. Both will help you in moving up the HBMs ladder soon

it is a visual glitch in the 1.12.2 reloaded version of the mod and has nothing to do with reasim game rule
I highly recommend you to download the NTM Extended version and in there this problem is solved !!

If you're playing on 1.12.2 then this is a visual glitch, even tho they will look disconnected water should still flow into the reactor and steam should come out

I use the latest version of HBMs from GitHub , I don't check Curseforge updated for HBMs tbh.
As for the motivation behind building them , I don't make RBMKs for energy , I build em so I can melt them down and let the corium infect the villagers ❤️

have you made an effective 1.7.10 fusion reactor model? it would be cool to be able to have this RBMK reactor power a fusion reactor in the same base, im not sure if the fusion reactors have changed since i last used one in 2022.

Using the most basic fuel you can make a self sustaining fusion setup ez. Only thing you need to take care of is changing the blanket once it is near the end of its durability
In the newest version of hbm there are radiation leaks and idk how to fix it
Make sure you place RBMK cover on every column and the outer periphery of the reactor should be closed with rbmk reflectors/absorber making sure that there is no open path for neutrons to escape

I built this one in my NPP, I did some upgrades on it so it produces around 60MH/s but it lags the game so badddddddd. Is there some solve for it because I have a good PC, and im running like at 10 FPS. I play on 1.12.2
I recommend using NTM Extended instead of NTM Reloaded for the fps issue ... In the newer updates of ntm extended RBMK performance has been improved quite alot.

This is a very hot running reactor so i recommend using coolers
Design is pretty old, now water tank is not needed as it will just circulate if enough cooling towers are used !!
So I think without using the coolers the reactor would work perfectly
You are correct but if any of you are me and id**t scared that the reactor will blow up and in my case did blow up well i added coolers

Also yes there are no downsides to using the RBMK coolers anyways so I guess yes using them or not is totally upto you !
@@SavageVegeta to be totally honest i knew that you messed up its in the thumbnail 2 water tanks arent enough for a 15x15 hot running reactor i still used a auxiliary cooling tower as it can support my 2 tanks that dont have infinite water tanks

Why is it that when I insert RBMK 226 into the center and expose the rods to 75%, I have no reaction. I play on 1.12.2 of the full version (1.9.8), however, I insert 75% rods into the center of 238 and everything is fine.

It is a visual bug in the 1.12.2 Reloaded version of the mod, your reactor should work fine otherwise. You can connect the steam pipes from the top of the steam channel and that way you won't need to use the steam connectors.
I have made a vid on 1.12.2 RBMK so you can check that out and also try using NTM Extended as this visual bug is solved in that version afaik

Hmm that's weird , cause like all you need to start the reactor is a neutron source in the middle and the chain reaction should begin. I can't tell more before taking a look at what you're doing
I guess you can check your ducts and steam connectors to see if they are connected properly to your turbines , maybe that's why the reactor isn't producing power

Yeah sure give it a try. If the reactivity goes down too much then switch back to reflectors
Maybe the hbms mod creators will create the rbmk-1500 then the reactor 15x15 reactor will make more power

is this reactor for short time use only? i counted more or less 50 seconds to 80 seconds before it needs to be turned off because the water ran out (using full BAT and heavy infinite water tank)
Well have 4 tanks instead of 2 , and definitely replace the auxiliary cooling tower with one or two big cooling towers and that should solve the water issue hopefully

@@hyacinthsen ah ohk that explains alot of things ,so yeah anyways just have like 2 big cooling towers and 4 big ass tanks and I think it'll be good , if not just increase the amount of cooling towers in there ... You'll be surprised how quickly the leviathan turbine processes steam 🥲
I will ask one more thing, do you know why there is no smoke from the cooling tower?
That would only happen if there is no low pressure steam going inside it

Hey man, I built this on a Chernobyl map I have downloaded, but the turbines aren't spinning when everything is hooked up fine. I am on 1.12 for reference, I'm wondering what I should try to get it running? Along with the turbines not spinning, it is not producing any power or heating up.
1.12.2 has some fluid duct features which are different than 1.7.10 HBM or maybe the steam ducts you set are not same as the steam your boilers are producing , that is one of the most common mistake most of us make when making an RBMK. Now I am gonna upload a video today after like 5 hours , it is a Breeding RBMK reactor in 1.12.2 and produces 8 MHE/s ... maybe that should clear your confusion
when i interact with my steam channel,there is water in it but on the rbmk console it says that there is no feedwater,also do i need to follow how long the water duct and the ultra dense steam duct should be?
Which version of minecraft are you playing this on?? cause in 1.12.2 some features maybe missing.
And if you are making this reactor then increase the amount of water tanks drastically and you can get rid of one set of turbines as only 4 are enough to process all the steam
also it doesn't really matter how long the ducts are for steam, you just place them according to your needs

I don’t know if two tanks is enough after I fixed my steam channels to ultra dense steam my tanks ran out super fast and then my reactor exploded
When I try and put the fluid identifier in the tank the slot is missing. there are only 2 slots in the menu
yeah you can direly set it to any fluid type by placing it inside the tank. The fluid identifier feature is missing from 1.12.2 version

@@SavageVegetaYeah i tried and it works. It finnaly doesn't explode when I dont want it to. When I cut off water to see what happens I was stunned by the fact the rods were jumping up and down when it was near meltdown just like in chernobyl.
OH and also is there a way I can recycle fully depleted fuel rods?

Yes they should be as moderated fuel rods don't change anything about the system

Cause you're playing on the 1.12.2 version of the mod , it has this visual glitch. You can connect the water ducts on bottom and steam ducts on the top to solve this problem !

Use an "HE to RF" convertor and it should work directly , it is available in HBM mod. However if it doesn't work then convert the HE to RF first and then convert the RF to EU.

sounds like you are playing ntm reloaded, I would recommend using NTM extended as it is more complete and has less problems with rbmk

It's a problem with HBMs reloaded , I've been told it's a visual bug so it shouldn't affect the performance of the reactor , even tho it looks like it doesn't connect still it'll transfer water and get steam out
Can you link two RBMK cranes console to only one crane, like if you want to put a crane controller in the control room but also in the reactor room?
It probably can be , link an RBMK wrench to a reactor and then try right clicking on two crane consoles , hopefully that shouldn't spawn 2 cranes and both of them should be linked to a single system

Hi, I can't find the storage column? The only column I have is the structural one. I am playing on 1.12.2.
Oh and yeah I am using the HBM's Nuclear tech mod Reloaded edition as the standard one is for 1.7. versions only
I think storage columns have not been added in HBMs reloaded just like how RBMK cranes have not been added. There are still alot of missing features which probabl;y won't be added in HBMs Reloaded :(

@@nexoo_2968 the crane only does the job of loading and unloading the fuel rods and breedable items. You can do that manually with hand as well ... Actually before the crane was added loading and unloading the fuel by hand was the only option
So yeah the crane doesn't contribute anything in making the reactor explode :)

The steam connectors not connecting with pipes is a visual glitch , they connect it just looks like they don't.
As for reactor exploding I think it's enough water not reaching the central boilers as they run very hot , one of my friends pointed that out earlier

My water pipes arent connecting to the steam connectors at the bottom. I use 1.12.2
Connect steam pipes on the top of the reactor then , and water pipes on the bottom so in this way you don't need to use steam connectors

@@lotte2899 I've been told that it is just a visual glitch so even if it looks like the water ducts aren't connecting they will still pump water and output steam. So you can try that if you wanna , with the water ducts looking like that haven't connected run the RBMK and if there is no output steam then you can shut it down before it explodes

Truth be told I haven't built as many reactors in that version so I don't have much idea but the design itself is not very reactive so you can definitely give it a try , just make sure to increase the number of water tanks and cooling towers in order to ensure your reactor doesn't run out of water.
I am going to begin working on a 15x15 Reasim RBMK reactor soon and that design you can most definitely make in any version of HBMs
@@SavageVegeta I built this in 1.12.2, and it explodes after 30 seconds, i gave this build two cooling towers and it still explodes, i tried doing everything and it still doesnt work! I noticed that the main issue is heat, after the temperature rises to about ~1600 or sometimes 2800 it explodes.

I haven't been able to make one that is actually useful for providing alot of power so idk man ... plus making them runs the risk of digamma spear falling from the sky and literally killing you so yeah I didn't give digamma reactors much of a try
