DIRTBIKE WITH 2x2 AWD (All Wheel Drive)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 дек 2020
- Christini’s AWD Dirtbike uses mechanical all drive system that delivers power from transmission to front wheel. In this video we are going to present how AWD System is working on Dirtbikes. It was designed special for hardenduro riders and races. This dirtbike 2x2 was tested on erzberg rodeo, last man standing and much more hard enduro races in world. Yamaha was also producing AWD Enduro bike on name Yamaha WR450 2-TRAC 2x2 in around 2004 year. I really like this system from Christini because its mountable on KTM EXC 2 Strokes, also it will work on GasGas 300 what is amazing you get 2 stroke with AWD 2x2.

awd hybrid rotary motorcycle exists
just let it sink in
I was thinking the exact same thing!!!!
IM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW TOO BAD ITS TOO LATE OR I WOULD BE TELLING MY DAD
No they don't that was a mis-type no way that has a rotary engine just listen to it.
@@thedave7760 it has a rotary engine in it. That's the smallest engine you could still fit on top of all the electric components and not weigh a half ton. Rotary engines are great for a lot of power in a small package but boy are they expensive. husqvarna actually developed some great bikes with rotary engines, except they eventually started stuffing the biggest engine possible in dirt bike frames and riders flat out stopped using them due to being way overpowered.
i think we had one here in the netherlands like 10 years ago with a hydrolic pump for the front wheel
40 years on dirtbikes, i would never have dreamed this ace tech would be a reality, let me take it through muddy Welsh mountains and Spain in early 2021, it will roll back my ability clock! Amazing, you clever folks!!
My buddy has had one for a while
They have had 2x2 dirtbikes/motorcycles for ages... this isnt new technology.

When you realize awd in a bike is still 2wd
When you realise a uni cycle is AWD and that’s just one wheel 😉
I was wondering about that. I'm guessing that they call it awd because of the one way clutch in the front wheel setup.
I meant awd vs. 2wd
@@danmanthe9335 or they call it AWD because all wheels are driven
@@MrHotstuff011 maybe. Just maybe. It's a long shot...

I remember reading this in the dirt rider magazine in the 90's.
Yup.
86 the Christini system was in print, I remember because I owned a 85 CR125 getting ready to trade in for a 87.
Why didn't it catch on? This seems dope
@@OrigionalDroog maintenance and reliability killed it mainstream 2 decades ago. Now it might have a chance?
@@OrigionalDroog I bet I got an old Dirt Bike Magazine tucked away with an article all about it. This company has been around for a good long time, and their kit was sold exclusively on its own and then they offered s whole bike which was a rebranded and christini badged crf450 and they had a 2stroke model also. The motor supplier changed several times but they seem to maintain that Honda chassis from 2005 era. If my memory serves me right I believe Yamaha at one point supplied 4stroke motors at one point but still the Honda style frame. Idk this company has been through lots of changes but certainly isn’t new. I think they shd be adding this kit to the YZ250X model and call it a day. Then the magazines can shut up about the YZ250 being outdated. It’s not broke leave it alone
I used to think the same when I first started riding in Dubai sand dunes and doing more technical stuff where an rwd would struggle and just get burried. In 2014 I imported a few Christini AWDs and started a dirtbike tours company called Motoventure. Pretty much everyone who rode these bikes loved how they worked, great technology, tough as nails and almost the same maintenance as any standard rwd bike.
The additional weight of the awd system is just 7 kgs which like carry extra fuel in an extended gas tank although it doesn't splash around. Surprisingly a lot of hate and bashing is done by riders who have never rode or even seen these bikes.
Christini has done an absolutely incredible job on these!
Do you still offer them tours
@@jeekdkw.2149 Not at the moment but I still have a few units that I'm look to sell.
@@iawsom why have you stopped giving tours

I remember the first time I saw their 2x2 system installed on a CR250R a long time ago in a magazine.
I have that bike
Yz490 did it first back in the 80s
Oh my goodness what a setup this is.
I’ve always thought about the possibilities of building a awd motorcycle but the technology in Christini products is amazing.
I’d absolutely love to get my hands on such a machine and really get a feel for how they handle.
No comments on a rotory dirtbike???? As in Wankel????
Mitchell Giebelhaus I know right? I wonder why rotaries haven't been inplemented into dirt bikes more often, it seems like a promising concept.
@@m.behan6 reliability would be the biggest hurdle forsure
Fuck that its a fucking rotory who wouldn't want that in there dirt bike like damn rx7 with the matching bike

The little rotron engines would be a good fit, super tiny and 53hp
What we need is just an electric front hub like the E-bikes. Extra traction and stability with out the complicated mechanism which is inefficient.

Having both tires synched seems way better to me. But if it could be simplified that would be great.
You must be gay and drive a Tesla
@6:00 I was just waiting for that back tire to get even a smidge of traction on the ground. Haha xD
Absolutely perfect!! I used to dirt bike in southern CO and a system like this would have so many benefits. Electric mode when hunting or stalking game, gas when you want to get rowdy and awd when your F'd. I love it
We have a family of dirtbikers and we would love to try it!!!!
Man. This brings back memories of reading dirt rider or motocross action. I remember reading about the yamah that was 2wheel via hydraulics in the front.
They have been around for almost 20 years, seen them in action back then when they first came out, I think that started with the Honda crf 450, glad to see them still in business.
I remember having the opportunity to ride one of these. It is noticeably heavier but it's significantly a different beast. Alot more capable. Especially on sand & low traction ground.
Thanks 👍I just learnt something new . I remember seeing the fat wheel Russian all wheel drive bike years ago but never knew it was something that anyone had ever put into production in later years . Very cool 😎
That’s so beautifully designed
I own one of there 2009 christini 300 two strokes. I have to say that the front wheel drive is pretty stoutly built. I beat the crap out of mine and have done very little maintenance to it. The all wheel is a huge benefit in hill climb on single track. The steering is slightly heavier when all wheel drive is engaged.
i have a 14 300awd
@@kenfarnsworth5239 My Christini has been extremely reliable. I don't know about your experience. I do have to admit the awd doesn't get used very often. I usually only use it on gnarly single track hill climbs and the awd does take a noticeable amount of power.
@@loganfitzthum8886 . I use mine in the winter with full studs so it gets used a lot . But I have found that If I put too much power to the front wheel the clutch thing under the gas tank will slip . And if it is wet it will continue to slip easily . . Like using old drum brakes.
I did have a lot of little things I had to do. Like foot pegs that cracked easily.
What is the price of this product and how can I contact the supplier?

I've been dreaming of this for many years. The design is absolutely incredible.
Cant believe some other lads have told me this too, how come this isnt better known, still like me 2wd, in muddy mountains must be very useful.

It’s been a thing since world war 2
yamaha has already proven that outside a factory race team the xtra maintenance and power loss isnt worth it, thats why they stopped making them

Brilliant.. whoever that came up with the idea. I didn't think it was possible untill now. I could never think of a Shaft driven front wheel drive on a bike 🙏🏻
This is awesome!
I think it would be interesting to see if a hydraulic drive system would work. It could cut down on weight, get the power to the wheel faster and be simpler.
I've always wanted to try the 300 2 smoke. I live in Utah and they look like they'd be a blast at the sand dunes and everywhere else.
I just got one an they are amazing. I used to ride a rmz450 4 stroke of course from 2014and this Ktm 300 is 10 years older and has more power. It's a 2 stroke if anyone's asking.

Seems like a hydraulic drive would be so much simpler. Run a pump off the front sprocket, then a line to the front wheel.

Something like that hybrid was kind of ridiculous and would probably be difficult to maintain but I've been planning on doing an electric motorcycle myself in the biggest issue is finding a good motor for a decent price. All together though it would probably cost the same as a regular motorcycle build.

I was thinkin electric as it's more easy to implement awd.
if you mean a wheel motor, then the motors powerful enough are very heavy. This will increase the unsprung mass.
@@diAx007 you are right and you are right also about the unsprung mass. Maybe the motors can be light enough as each one only needs half the power. Another idea is to have an electric motor mounted on the frame (classic chain drive) and a smaller one in the front wheel (no need to be so powerful).
