You hit the nail on the head. They were not looking to make a serious song, they wanted some fun, light, catchy , that could just let people escape and have a good time. I would suggest watching them sing this live on the VMA's where you could hear the pure unprocessed vocals. I actually thought it sounded one million percent better live, they were incredible.
BTS said in an interview that they didnt originally intend to release a song around this time. They normally plan things at least a year in advance but this song wasnt really planned planned you know. But they decided to release dynamite, first bcz they wanted to give comfort, support, and cheers to people all around the world, who are going through this dark times due to global pandemic. They said that there werent any serious or deep meaningsin this song, they just wanted to cosole and cheer up people who are suffering from all kinds of pains due to global pandemic right now. And second, they released this song in full English so that it can reach out to more people, and more people can get energy and spirit in this dark times. Like you said, singing in full English was also a gift for their fans who have been so supportive throughout all these years eventhough most of their songs are sung in Korean, which is just a foreign language to a lot of their fans.
This song is very simple. Their intention for the release of this sing is very simple. BTS wanted to cheer us up and give energy, hope and support to people in this dark times.
Personally I've been going through some kind of depression lately due to what's going on around the world. I guess it is called Corona blue or corona depression. I've been having nightmares almost everyday. Before I was listening to dynamite, I was so down and depressed.
But as soon as I heard this song, my mood was just uplifted all of a sudden. I think that is exactly what BTS wanted from this song. Just making people happy was their intention and I could feel their intention while listening even without watching their interviews.
Thanks, i still hate the song cause of how much of modern pop it follows and that shit is genuine trash compared to the 2000s-2010 pop music

Interesting that Monroe spoke about the people who were upset this song was in English
1st I just wanted to say I never saw that but I think that was because of two things:
(1) BTS explained before the song dropped that they made the song in English because they wanted anyone who listened to it (ARMY or not) to feel motivated, uplifted, and hopeful that we’ll get out of this tumultuous world (covid, BLM, etc) sometime soon
(2) I don’t follow any of these grumpy ass “ARMYs” on my socials and just ppl who were just as excited as me that BTS was coming back 😂😂
I think they also said that in fact they didn’t retouch the song so like most of the demo of KPOP songs their in English cuz the demoers are American so like they liked it and just sang it as it was if I remember

Despite watching a lot of reaction vids, it still gives me goosebumps when reactors mentioned how this turned their down mood into an energetic and lively one.
That is what BTS purpose of releasing this in the first place. I am just overjoyed that BTS uses music to heal, to give joy and to connect with a lot of people, not only their fans.

Rm and the boys did say how this english version came out unplanned, as in they received this dynamite demo in english, and they loved the way it was, hence they released the english version. Well, apart from that, we know the relationship between them and army so, what monroe was saying, i do felt that ~ ☺️ they did this for us even though it was challenging ~
Dizz words that said "they brought this song in such a dark time" hits me directly to heart 💔 it's so true and even Namjoon (RM) also said that he is so frustrated so angry with situation going on in world... In recent BTS concert Jimin cried out of frustration because he can't see fans sure online he can.. but there is something called face to face interaction... And it hurts so much that they bought happy song for everyone... And still they are super frustrated... And it hurts alot 💔

You know... I'm from Mexico, and obviously english is not my language...however I was soo excited to hear them singing in english, why? Because is the closest I can get to sing a full song of them right (I mean.. I do in korean but who knows if I'm invoking the devil lol) but I was and I'm still so damn happy for that, it doesn't matter if it wasn't in spanish or in korean, I really enjoyed it and I'm thankful for their effort.

They released the song to make army's feel happy in this hard time , the song is really good and bts has topped the bb hot 100 chart for the first time , and they made a history to be the first korean act ever to top that chart and the 2nd asian and the 43rd song in the chart history , they gave us a gift and we did too , they were so happy and we love that , a simple song made history they worked really hard and they deserve it ,we are proud of them they are the pride of korea

You hit the nail with the language commentary! I’m sick and tired of ARMYs always finding an issue with the boys singing in English and sadly, some use it to further their POC woke agenda. As POC myself, why is it an issue when other POC artists from other countries, sing in English? It’s the universal language and as you say, it’s a gift for ARMYs worldwide.
Why is it that there’s an issue but there’s NEVER an issue when the boys put out Japanese songs? They aren’t Japanese, they are korean so shouldn’t that apply to their Japanese music too? The hypocrisy.
