- improvements are coming to Castle Park High School in Chula Vista.
The Sweetwater Union High School District announced they will break ground on a state-of-the-art football stadium complex in June.
"I never doubted that we could, you know, get our message through to the district," said senior Adrian Gomez. For nearly two years, Gomez has been part of the effort to improve conditions on campus. CBS 8 first interviewed Gomez when he was a sophomore.

Insanity, spending 42 million on a high school football field !
Almost every other school in the SUHSD has multi- million dollar sports facilities and CPH has had to deal with ridicule from visiting schools, remain resilient and take pride in their performance, both academic as well as athletic, despite their lack of support for something as simple as updated clean uniforms or a level grass or turf field.
Many people may criticize the decision, but the truth is the $42 million were ALWAYS there for this school, they just never had the proper advocacy to obtain it.
I hope the same updates are done for the music program. These things keep our students engaged and motivated!
And we wonder why our taxes are so high….
No way it should cost 42 million for a stadium. Sweetwater high school redid their track and field that cost $2 million. So $40 million for a consession stand and concrete seating embedded into the hill...
That’s great news 📰 🎉
That’s beyond absurd. Do the arts and sciences get the same funding? 🤦♀️ The other renovations sound good though.
