I watched two other videos re: v.5 before yours, as I have only recently upgraded to v.4 from v.3 Pro, and am considering whether it makes sense to upgrade to v.5 so soon. The first was clearly just a "Top 5 Features" overview, based upon admitted "opinion", without much detail offered. The next one was far more focused on what I consider to be mostly the "cosmetic" improvements. (Meh.) Yours actually uses some of new features in practice and the navigation was clearly explained. To try to get this far by only employing the Owner's Manual would certainly be more tedious and an eyestrain. Thanks for doing this. It's apparent that you did extensive editing and that amounts to a significant investment. Again, my thanks. I will add your channel to my subscriptions. 🎩😎🤙
Facts. We had our moment with 4.5 so I guess it was time for everyone else to get some love too. I have a whole list of suggestions. Stay tuned for the next video!
Bus routing was in version 4. I used it all the time. It's the same as before. As a lifetime user of NI Kontakt, the new keyswitches will come in handy, as I always have to remember which one I'm looking for on the keyboard! BIG time saver!
Saw 5.1 video and now this one. Thanks for the very good review, very useful and insightful. I think I'm stepping into the Studio One community for my editing preeeeetty soon!
To your point, a lot of the updates since version 3 have been producer focused so it doesn't bother me that this one isn't. With that said, none of the current features give me reason to upgrade yet. However, I just got the email about the new Atom SQ controller that will becoming out and I'll most likely be reevaluating then.
8:55 For exporting the notation, you could always use the snipping tool to do a screen capture. (at least in Windows) Remember that little widget? In any event, nice video ;)
Great overview as usual - thanks Ivan! Another good use of the listen bus is to put your speaker correction on this channel (e.g. ARC3) and not have to worry about turning it off before doing the mix down on the master bus.
Your video is pretty dope. I appreciate the breakdown. I personally feel that it's worth the upgrade and I intend on getting it. I like what they have done with the stock plug-ins, but I really like the newer editing features. I do a 'lot' of vocal editing, mixing and mastering right now, so I'm looking forward to diving into the updated tools. Thanks for sharing.
You do such a great job on being clear with the breakdown of your videos. Especially when it comes to Studio one and the latest features. So far i am happy with Studio One 4 since my production is done primarily in NI's Maschine stand alone software. However, I do want to get back into mixing other artists sessions and even experiment with sound design . So far these updates look amazing and im on the fence on upgrading right now. Do you think it'll matter if one waits for further patch updates on this one? Thanks again for these videos!
Great video, very encouraging, I am happy with 5 for one reason, I am always trying to learn the features that were in the previous versions. There is so much in Studio One that hasn't been discovered. I have been a Studio One user since 2013. I am hearing from sources that there is more coming.
I'm excited about the features they've added, but since this time around I don't get the free upgrade (like I did from v3 to v4), I'm not sure I feel it's $150 worth of updates. Honestly I wouldn't mind, but as an amateur on a budget, I may wait for a sale before I upgrade again. I will say also though, I'm not always a fan of monthly subs, but the fact I can get the Sphere subscription for $15, and try out v5 for a month or two is pretty cool.
as usual a very detailed and informative video that is technical yet spoken in laymans terms with great examples and metaphors. I wish more youtuber's could articulate and pay attention to detail as well as you.
@ Mr. Calderón. Thank you for sharing this video with us. I'm new to Studio One Pro, 4.6 coming from thee ProTools & Cubase realm. Wow! What an incredible DAW! Like you, I'm mainly a producer these days & perform "re-recording mixing" for cinematic adventures. 😉 I luckily found your channel & immediately subscribed because you're efficiency in explaining, is not only thorough & concise, but you do posture it so that it's easy to understand for we "newbies" to this DAW, while maintaining a level of awareness for the professional. Nice presentation, Sir which tells me that your clients are indeed fortunate, given your attention to detail & obvious knowledge... In closing, I absolutely LOVE the [KEYSWITCH] window implementation! Love & Light to you all out there in RUclips Land and BeYoNd ! 😉 💜 🍀 👻 🎶 🐾 🤗

Hey Ivan so i was taking a second look at this video. Not sure if you have made a video for this but have you attempted to perform with Maschine using "The Show Page" ? Thats what really caught my attention since i am an NI user and own Maschine and Komplete hardware. Wasnt sure if that feature would cater well to doing a live performance with NI hardware
Thanks Ivan and nice reminder of how PreSonus is working to build out this DAW. I can always count on you for high quality production, knowledge, clear, articulate descriptions and the right level of enthusiasm (for me). Your channel has become one of my top go to sources for Studio One info. Thanks and keep up the great work. BTW, I really like the simple white section title format and the TOC markers on the RUclips timeline transport....clean, efficient and it compliments your overall visual brand.
Studio ONE 5 is definitely dope. The update is so cool. I would like to see though, the ability to route internal tracks to the aux channels. I just tried it and the aux channels don't show in the output for the internal mixer channels.
well put together..i'm on 4.5 enjoy it but also on logic and ableton and cubase....so would i want to go to version 5 and from trialing the software and then tuning in here and some other presentations from other cats i'd say some things really tick the yes box....many things, but i'm probably thinking key strokes which i had hoped would be positioned in a break out and not stuck down there at the bottom where in fact you can easily do it on the piano roll might have been something more associated with 'movin' ahead'...sure it's great that presonus thought about it, but i think it could have been handled in another way. i'm still out to lunch on studio one's send sliders....they just need to be bigger and better visibly in terms of gui.....enjoyed the presentation here.
You’re always the clearest person when it comes to breaking down these updates. The updates to the effects are really nice and make me hopeful to see some more effects in the future like a vocoder, pitch/frequency shifter, maybe even some more MIDI effects 🤞Also that new tape-like time stretch algorithm is really cool for sample flipping and sound design.

Love most of the new features as mentioned, but, I now don’t perform orchestrate or compose, no need for quite a lot of these feature, so why would I subscribe to pay monthly?? If I did, What actually happens if I don’t wish to carry on with subscriptions and cloud service? I’d like an answer please. Am I then having to resort back to 4.6?? I have bought into the Eco System and really love it....but please also be aware that (options) possibly could be made available...if I / We /anyone only wants selected features...

Yes and no. The thing to remember, as I pointed out in the video, is that S1 handles bussing differently. You CAN send two audio tracks/channels to one bus channel using channel sends but you CANNOT do the same with the new AUX channels. Those are mainly for routing external devices into your mixer.
For that price i can wait, but for those who can make use of those main new updates its fire. make proEQ able to solo audition frequencies, and audio to midi without melodyne with a quick command thatd be dope.
