Thanks Alex! If the ballast cars were loaded I'm sure an extra engine would've been sent up with the 3016 but since they were empty there were no problems pulling the train.
Thanks man! The stone cars were stored across the diamond near the quarry and Tilcon, they load them over there. They had to bring the train across the crossing and into the yard to run around the train so they could shove the train into the yard. I excluded the clip of them shoving the opposite way because it was nearly identical to the first clip and would just take up space in the video.
Thanks bro! This was a fun day of chasing. The Sparta local switches that once a week or so, maybe more depending on the work they get. Glad you got to see a train there though!
I live in Bloomingdale and live 2 blocks away from the Mathews Ave Crossing in Riverdale, so I catch trains there all the time, it's just when I travle toward wayne, I have to go through the crossing see at 6:48. And I always wanted to catch a train there, but since it's a small industrial spur, I never know when a train will go through that crossing.
Ah, minimal set up time. Don't you love that? Haha always a pain rushing to get everything set up. You did a fantastic job of it though! it must've been a fun chase! Good scenery, great video!
Great video & chase Steve, A thumbs up for sure! I would have thought they would use an SD60 for this, I guess the #3016 was the only power available, lol
I was in Hackensack NJ few times when I saw Norfolk southern going backwards to Ridgefield Park NJ and one other time I the saw C40-8s from Susquehanna and then I saw 3012 running Local freight to Saddle brook NJ
Haha it wouldn't be a chase without minimal set up time, it adds to the thrill of the chase. Thanks though dude, chasing the NYS&W is always fun for me because I have to get creative when selecting shots so the they don't look repetitive.

Thanks a lot dude! It was a nice treat to see something in daylight on the Pompton Industrial because it's always switched at night by the WS-5 local.

Thanks Kevin, it was something else to see a ballast train on the NYS&W. Regarding 3016 running LHF, "It's like a flying brick" - Kevin Phalon.

Awesome Video!
I finally get to see that crossing at 6:48 in action!
I've never been able to catch a train there!
Thanks a lot! The 3016 has one of the better P5's on the NYS&W in my opinion, it's always been a favorite of mine.
Excellent video! Very rare to see a ballast train on the NYSW!
