Kamijo is such a great musician, it is obvious his English will be different, I can’t say hard but just different, I love the accent and how beautifully he has accommodate his ascent to it. I admire his attitude to try to get out of the Japanese frontier and take his music and talent to other continents, plus is fun and fascinating the idea about writing in other language, who cares if isn’t perfect, what matters is that these words are his and are his gift to us; and the best of all is that each word is pure without proofreading from someone that isn’t connected and isn’t sharing the same feelings.
The reason their English sounds weird in some cases is because when they sing in Japanese, the ends of words don't need to be with the beginning. Same with English, but there are some words that we shorten to fit together. Such as 'nother rather than another. In Japanese, if it called for it, they would more than likely make it another, even if it meant the "a" and "nother" part were like 5 seconds apart. This also can come across weird with pronunciation since it might fit the song better for a word to sound one way, even if it ends up sounding wrong to us. This is also something that happens in Japanese music, since sometimes words with a certain intonation or rhythm will have that rhythm or intonation very heavily changed only to fit the song. This also happens with English, but since we're native speakers, we know how far we could stretch a word before it becomes incohesive more or less.
Oh, I forgot to finish my first statement. This is pretty general, but They're pretty much singing based on a rhythm and syllable count, they don't care about how the words get jostled up, because a native speaker will decipher it, be it in Japanese or English. So you get some cases where a word sounds like it was put in half a beat off or something like that just because it fit the rhythm, even if the emphasized syllable and pronunciation is sacrificed.
Kamijo ...is pure magic, and his effort to break the barriers and move away from the Japanese sound is working very well... he has never lost or will lose his identity or his roots... but he manages to combine everything in a way that appeals to a wider audience outside the Japanese borders... The fact that he sings in English only makes him even more special... and confirms what I said earlier, the Japanese accent works very well... go for it my king👑♥

So interesting to hear Kamijo sing a song in English. He did pretty well. There were parts where his English was perfect, but there were also times that I was grateful for the subtitles. lol
There are definitely a few places where the subtitles help - maybe the first few times. I sing along with him these days no subtitles needed, and have fallen in love even with the way he pronounces English words here (accent on the first "e" of "embrace" is a good example). And, good Lord, those white gloves, as opposed to the elaborate black ones he's known for wearing with Versailles... a simple and elegant touch, a bit like like a museum curator. Perfect even in his imperfections - that's the beauty of Kamijo.

I was wondering if someone could explain the narrative starting in 4:28. I know Napoleon's history quite well but I barely know about the Napoleonic code. Even though I'm pretty sure he didn't ban castrato. According to some research, he actually liked it very much. He had a castrato singer called Crescentini in his royal court for years. This singer ended up retiring because of health issues, not some arguing against Napoleon. I couldn't find anything about Napoleon's anger over castrati. "Ironically, he himself was the price to pay for leading a beautiful future" What does it mean? Is it a reference to Napoleon's stolen penis by the time he died? I still can't see the connection of that to "leading a beautiful future". "Even the Napoleonic code was performed according to my instructions" Whose instructions? What part of Napoleonic code was performed, when? Guys, please notice: I'M NOT HATING ON KAMIJO BY ANY MEANS. As I said before, I'm a huge fan and I definitely love his songs, specifically this one. There are a lot of historical errors in this lyrics. As someone who grew up in Italy. Castrati were usually male children forced by parents to get mutilated so they would keep their child like voice. That is why it got banned. Many were Italian especially from poor families. Nothing romantic about it. I don’t know what Kamijo knows about the concept of a castrato but it’s obviously wrong.

Yes, the voices were heavenly and impressive, even though we only have Alessandro Moreschi's voice recorded as proof. But the price was way too high. They should just let women sing. But the church was... Insane by that time.
When I first watched this video, I thought the lyrics were rather random, but after listening to the song another time or so, I understood the overall message and some lyrics that were unclear before a lot better. I now like the song quite a bit even if it is a bit different from his previous sound, but I like new sound, and musicians are supposed to further develop and try different sounds anyway.

When I first watched this video, I thought the lyrics were rather random, but after listening to the song another time or so, I understood the overall message and some lyrics that were unclear before a lot better. I now like the song quite a bit even if it is a bit different from his previous sound, but I like new sound, and musicians are supposed to further develop and try different sounds anyway.
