The way Zachary portrays Tighnari is much similar to the JP dub and CN original! Calm, gentle, patient, nerdy, and nurturing with some subtle sass here and there. That's more accurate to Tighnari's character rather than having him act cocky and condescending, because he has always been a kind-hearted mentor.
Couldn't have said it better myself! I thought he sounded meaner in the eng dub, which turned me away from the character - but learning more about Tighnari (and listening to the other voices) gave a better picture.
Yes! Tighnari is a very caring person, just with a few grains of salt mixed in. This new va portrays that perfectly!
I think the previous VA has the meme line down very well. I loved the sass in it. But overall all the new VA is much better and of better quality
Honestly, the old VA was grating to me. He sounded like the personification of the nerd emoji: nasal, annoying, too much of a know it all. This new one's great!

I don't dislike the new VA and I think Zack will warm into his role with time as he grows used to playing Tighnari, but I can't lie, I do miss the sassier attitude version. That feistiness was what originally attracted me to the character when Tighnari didn't originally catch my eye/ appeal to me as a character. The portrayal is what I miss, not the old voice itself as I often see misconstrued. And I believe Zack has a ton of potential to do Tighnari justice as he gains more experience playing him!

And not to be rude/meant offensively bc I know you didn't mean anything mean by it, but why do people keep acting as if they have to repeat the obvious fact creepy Elliot should be gone in response to any time someone expresses their opinion about the level of sass/portrayal. I see that happen a lot. Creepy Elliot and the level of sass in a character's portrayal are not interconnection/locked. Anyone with talent can portray a sassy character, that doesn't have any relation to creepy Elliot or wanting him, so if people say they just want more sass, they mean by whoever the new VA is bc plenty more of capable people are out there, no one is wishing Elliot hadn't been fired or is sad about him leaving. Thank goodness he's gone. But we're strictly talking about the portrayal/sassiness of the character no matter who plays Tighnari since that ability is NOT interlocked to creepy Elliot.

@@jamie_jaja4ppl371 I don't feel like throwing up just bc I can disassociate the character from the real person ((but that's for several reasons: only bc their cartoon voices are always so drastically different from the actor's real life voice, otherwise it'd probably get me too, combined with not being familiar with the VA himself, so I have no strong association between him & Tighnari, unlike I do with Jason Saab/Cyno who's streams I watch- to better explain why some people find it easier to disassociate the VA from the character. If his voice is identical both in & out of game, which is rare for cartoon VA, which idk if his was or not, I'd understand the stronger association those people familiar with him would have and why they find it harder to separate the voice from the character. I understand both ways people feel in other words)), but I am glad Mihoyo removed creepy Elliot so quickly after the accident occurred and I can only imagine the hectic mess it's put the company & Zack through to re-record all the voice lines in such a crammed amount of time.

Fun fact: the new voice sounds much closer to the original CN voice. he was never as sassy and sarcastic in the original. he's a teacher, a gentle one.

Gordon is doing good. He just needs some time and HOYO should probably do some updates of the voicelines. The voicelines have been done in rush.

@@Piligrime1000 I think it might just be that the va doesn't have enough time? Because the vas do in fact make subtle changes and some lines do get patches over the versions. And with a change as big as Tighnari's they will absolutely redo the profile voice lines. I heavily doubt Zachary will be content with that performance of his when his quest lines are so good and consistent.
@@dorykrysz i mean Lisa was featured in multiple event quests recently which means her VA was recording at least few months before the event. Not mentioning that this lines that need fixing are there for a long time already. I dont remember for sure when low hp voice lines were added but it was in first half of inazuma at the latest.
This will probably change to be more refined and polished just like how it happened to ayato's voicelines about itto. The recordings were rushed and the VA is still unfamiliar with the character I can already tell because the tone changes from "mika sounding" to "hayner" and "wimpykid" when you analyze each and every new voicelines of the new VA. Am pretty sure he hasn't played the game yet, his story and persona so it's difficult to get the smart sounding passionate botanist fox from the forest. Don't worry, if the satisfaction survey comes up again people will surely inform the devs if players properly point their views and maybe a second recording might happen
How can you compare that to this. This is a whole va change. Many people didn't like the voice line that's why they changed it
@@grbrah1198 no it was inaccurate depiction of ayato's impression about itto..in every language he sounded rather fond of him except english.. Tighnari in other language isn't all sassy attitude but a sprincle of it and thats what they are going for in eng this time
I hope so there is gonna be some refinement to some lines in the future. With that being said, Zachary is welcome to the genshin crew by all means.
@@tranquillite1351 It's safe to assume there will be refinement. There was when Barabara's VA changed and that was under much easier circumstances.
What most fans don't realize just HOW rushed everythis was. Gordon realistically had only around 4-6 weeks to rerecord every single Tighnari line of the past 7 months + for the new version.
Usually, the voice actor and the voice director spent quite some time analyzing the character and trying different voices out until they decide how exactly they want the character to sound. But Gordon didn't have time for that and went straight to recording.
That's why there is such a big difference between some lines that were probably recorded in the beginning where he "sounds like Mika" and other lines that were probably recored towards the end where he sounds like Tighnari should sound like.

It'll take a while to get used to since I also loved Tighnari's sassy and a little rude personality. I just think it's quite boring if every single character is overly nice to us, so I love it when someone who feels more real gets added into the game. They're just funny in my opinion. That's a big reason to why I love Scara, Al Haitham, Fischl, Diluc etc.
That's the thing, Tighnari isn't supposed to be rude. Plus, we still haven't heard him reacting to Cyno's jokes, that's when we'll know how he sounds when disappointed.

@@haruyanto8085 I dont mind the vc but I have to admit, A lot of the lines sound like they were literally just the first take being read directly of the paper. Hopefully they will bring him back in for some retakes since it was a sudden thing. He went from quriky to robotic in some lines. Def gonna miss old tighnari voice but Eliott dug his grave and life goes on

Me too! I officially got excited for his character after hearing his voicelines for the first time and loved him. It’s nice to have that variety of personalities.
In my opinion, the old voice sounded sassier but the new one sounds more nerdy and calm, with nice hints of sarcasm in his voice in some cases which still adds a little sass to his character.
My exact thoughts on this! Yes, Tighnari is a bit sarcastic but he is kind and gentle too. His old lines were taking mocking a bit too far in my opinion. Elliot being replaced was the best choice both for Hoyo and Tighnari.

u know what's funny? At first when I got him I looveed Tighnaris voicelines especially the " I HEAR EVERYTHING!" (va was elliot btw) Then later down the storyline I could just feel something in his voice that doesn't sit right with me, the way he says his lines genuinely feels like theres no love or empty or he feels "bad" or something, unlike other Genshin characters, then turns out 2 days later it was annouced he was a manipulative disgustive dude so yeh, my gut feeling wasn't wrong :')) I lovee the new va btw, despite the same "sassy" lines u could feel he's good unlike elliots way of saying it

I originally liked the old voice because of the lisp(?) but I would agree that the new one sounds a lot more confident. I also think Zachary gives tighnari more emotion when speaking too
The interesting thing is that characters in game highlights his kindness more so his sass. So the new voice leaning more onto the gentle side does make sense
And those who complain he sounds nerdy. Well,... Yeah. He's from the academia.

He's gone on his own Botanist tangents several times. People just notice it more NOW because of his voice.
I love the new Eng VA For Tighnari. His soft soothing and gentle voice sounds so caring and nurturing which is exactly what Tighnari is! Especially if you consider that he treats and heals others with herbs from the Forest. 😊 This was the kind of voice I had hoped for Baizhu ( which he did have but they changed it now 😅)
Feel like same Barbara's situation. although she still voiced by her own VA but in difference way.

Yeah honestly it is the sass I miss. I originally didn't give Tighnari the time of day when he was first announced/released. It wasn't until I heard lines like "What are they going to do? Lock me up?" and my personal favorite "Ooo! Maybe I'll form an inter-species friendship today!" That made me really like his character. Zachary has a really great voice from an acting standpoint and he did a great job but it's going to take some time for fans of the previous deliveries (like myself) to warm up to his voice as Tighnari. I wish him the best of luck as his new role tho and hope to see him in Livestreams with the other VAs :)
My coping headcannon is that Tighnari died while visiting Mondstadt during Windblume and was replaced by a Whopperflower.😅😂
lmao. I am coping that he must have forgiven the akademiya for their past crimes or is so done with Cyno's jokes after listening to them for 10 years, that he is used to it. No hate on Zachary though. It's more like "he can improve". Idk why alot of people say he still has that sass, audacity and confident leader aura, but I ain't feeling it anymore.

I admit, it is a somewhat big change. but it is a new person and a new voice so of course it would be. He tried to bring in the sass and we will get used to it sooner or later. Also the new voice actor will grow into his role. I am sure of that.
I think that Gordon’s take on the “I dare them” like sounds more like a confident threat. In the old one it sounded almost arrogant, but this time it sounds like he KNOWS that he can’t be locked up (that’s just my opinion though)

Tighnari's voice lines don't feel designed for the calmer personality the new VA brings to the table. Or at least that's how it sounds to my ear when comparing the two. I hope in the future that will change and we can really see the new VA's talent shine through. I'm rooting for you Tighnari!
disliking the voice over is okay as it doesn't mean disliking the person behind it. as long as you are not complaining in their dms or attacking them. shit like this happens quite a lot in gaming/voice over related industry. just be mature and say something positive to the new guy. and you always have the option to change the voice over. it is as simple as that.

The new Tighnari sounds like a tired college student who has about 5 deadlines on the next day and has got no rest at all which imo fits Tighnari really well. The flatter tones of Zach’s voice make it sounds like Tighnari has already had enough with anything and even though he is less sarcastic and sassier than the old one, I honestly prefer Zach’s more. He may not be used to Tighnari’s character and personality yet which is understandable and he will continue to improve in voicing Tighnari in the future so just keep an open mind as Zach gets comfortable and learn more about Tighnari.

I am sorry but sadly the old voice I like far better... especially the little moking or monotone parts😢... it really grow on me. At least for me the original CN voices doesn't matter since I prefer playing with EN voice. Hopefully the new voice can grow on me in future since I play his char alot currently...
I am just glad that we got new VA for this foxboy. When i started playing windblume event i couldn't enjoy it cause y'know the voice. every time i heard his voice my thoughts were not about the plot of the event, but about all the shit elliot had done. so i freaked out and changed voice language to chinese so i could enjoy the event.

I am one of those who prefer the old voice bc to be honest im used to it and it suits the caracter. btw if i say that i prefer the new one i would lie and even if Elliot made a very big mistake he is still a good voice actor ( I dont say that he done those things right but his voice is still good)

Not a fan of English version, but this makes me sure im not switching back from JP. That Sassy voice will be missed(not the Va cuz.. yk).
tbh i dont really feel ground breaking difference as such like we did for barbara.. and the new VA really sounds more like tighnari than he did before if that makes sense.. the new VA has my full support.
People have to realize the new change in how the voice sounds was intentional as not to trigger fans with something similar to the old voice. Sure it might take som time to get used to but that’s okay. I already like the new voice myself

Tighnari’s old voice IS better, that’s the thing. Crime aside, the performance was immaculate… and he became my comfort character for a number of reasons. Two big ones being his energy and his natural voice (both of which are now gone. sounds like fucking Mika).
So its not the change that bummed me out, its the performance.
I really like Tighnari's new VA. Yeah, I agree that his old VA was good but now, I think his new VA is even better. Although he might not have the sassiness, he's still good to me as Tighnari's voice actor. I like the new VA...

The old version is tired of things sassy, and the new version is nerdy sassy.
I understand how some people would prefer the old Tighnari voice better, but this was a pretty quick replacement by Hoyo, so i'm sure Zachary had to rush if not most of the lines. It's just a matter of slowly getting used to the new voice is all. And for Zachary to ease into and get used to voicing Tighnari as well.
Plus, voice direction can change anytime just like how they did with Paimon and Barbara.
Tighnari is my main and so i am very used to his lines in the world, like idle actions or when you pick him for a team. Those lines lack a lot of sass now... but it IS a different person now and so you can't expect them to sound the same. And... well they did what neede to be done. I am glad the did it. I just miss my daily dose of sass, that's all...

I prefer the old VA; but for what he's done, it's too uncomfortable to stay with it, so I approve the change. It's just going to take some time to adjust to someone new. In my case since I main him as a character I've gotten really used to it. It is what it is.

But it’s going to take a while. Suddenly Tighnari is a complete different character. Younger and softer. He doesn’t feel like someone who command the forest rangers or scare stupid poachers. Sigh.

@@neanahidden I guess I am on the same boat with you folks. I don't mind the change in va for good reasons too. But honestly speaking, some of the lines felt like they were rushed recorded and lack some emotion. I hope in future they improve or refine some of the delivery in some lines. That's all. He doesn't need to replicate that previous va at all.
Honesty, I love Gordon's voice in Tighnari. The voice lines are different from each other and I assume it's due to the fact that he was still finding the character. But his voicing in the story and archon quests is PERFECT. And here, I'm referencing both what Alejandro Saab said (Cyno's va) and my own personal opinion. So yeah. I hope the community shows more love slowly. After all, as Cy Yu said, it takes time to get used to it and it's totally fine. Especially for older players who got used to hearing something different

I saw a vid of his voice in the archon quest & story quest.. they all sounded great.. the only bad ones are in the voicelines menu.. ig he was still trying to figure out the character when working on this part..

I mean Paimon got updated.. Barbara as well.. they are still the same VAs..

I hope they just update the voice lines for tighnari, i dont mind his lines but there are (and probably more then i know) a few lines that weren't exactly pronounced right, not like he said a name weirdly but like things he says that dont come out like its part of the sentence.
Plus most the new lines sound less like he's talking to you and more like he's informing you about things.
The line thing is probably just me not bring used to it but still.
Regardless he had like a month and a half to replace every voice line fron the previous VA personally the old one great voice acting but sucks for what he did and to does he affected but hey we cant change a person nor change what already happened.
Now its a get used to it process and the new VA getting comfortable with the lines for tighnari in the future

I honestly think the new voice fits the character more then the old. The way he talks makes him out to be more confident then snarky, like someone who would just roll their eyes to provocation rather then bite back. It also fits Tighnari's care giving personality that comes with being a 'doctor' like character.
I got Tighnari 2 days before the new update, felt weird to have his voice changed as soon as I got him. He is my first 5 star as well.

The new VA felt rushed(well DUH) at times. They did record the lines FAST. Won't deny the voice startled me in game - Zachary is a new pesron for me to know. MAYBE it's something to do with the quality of the audio, like, in side to side it felt like new lines were more 'clear' and in the battle with all the noises and other character voice lines.

I don't get to hear EN Tighnari much since I play with CN voices. The only time I'll ever hear Tighnari's EN voice is whenever I watch my fav RUclipsrs and Twitch streamers play the game.
Just gonna say that I never liked Tighnari's old voice. I always thought it sounded very pretentious. Like those 'i am very smart' ppl on reddit. It just felt so condescending to me and I just didn't like that feeling at all. It always felt like an imbalance, since Tighnari did not come off as that kind of character to me.
For me who comes from listening to the CN VA, Tighnari is this calm, patient, and nurturing teacher who will always be there for you. And I think the new VA pulls this off very well.
He is well welcomed in my books🙂
Though I usually play Genshin with the Chinese voices, I think the new VA is an improvement because his delivery is more crisp and clear and sounds less whiny. NTM, I wasn’t too fussed about the change.
It’s gonna take a while to get used to it but i prefer to have the Greg Heffley

I'm so used to his old VA but it's not like I don't like the new one either. Like you said, he sounds more soft now instead of trying to pick up a fight xd It will take a little bit of time to get used to it and forget about him being so sassy all the time but I only use english while doing archon quests anyway (usually I play with chinese va's). I wish him best of luck and I hope not many players will try to get at his skin cause they really seem to like targetting new people :// or at least that he won't be bothered by them much
tighnari sounds more gentle when he speaks to collei in the quest with zach. Just like jp/cn. His flow fits. I play in jp and kr because i like how it delivered.
As Cyyu said in his stream,doing all of it without fully known how the characters actually is hard and zachary do absolutely amazing. Have a listen to the story quest dialogue in archived. He sounds much more different there,maybe because he already gets the grasp about tighnari.

The new "lock me up?" Line just has a different kind of sass now. I can imagine him just smirking in a shady way instead of being cocky like the old line
these people dont realize that a VA can't just fit into a role in like a month, you need to feel how the character would sound on certain ordeals, plus the fact that he is trying. The fact that he is here voicing Tighnari is blessing as hoyovoerse would might as well take Tighnari and remove him if this VA leaves as well. VA's have feelings and not everyone is the same.
Considering how quickly it had to be done, I think the new voice is quite good. The old voice is better, but I just hated to hear it after knowing what has Elliot done, so I can't say I'm unhappy about the change

I used to love Tighnari’s old voice because his blatant disrespect but also subtle caring side really reminded me of one of my teachers, whom I respect a lot. But- you know what? This new voice, while not comparable to that teacher anymore, is much like his colleague, so I’m not that salty about it.

Nah I absolutely love the voice acting job for tighnari because I feel like he actually fits him too, he sounds nerdy and sassy with still the gentle and passionate voice behind his voice. I'm so glad I decided to leave sumeru delayed quests until the va was changed cos I enjoy tighnari a lot more now.
In my opinion, the new Tighnari va is much better, because it kinda fit Tighnari's voice lines in my point of view

They can't bring him back because of his deeds. But it doesn't mean the character has to suffer so drastic change in his personality. The best thing Hoyo can do is to try to recorded voicelines again putting more soul in it... But we all know that will never happen, so R.I.P. Tighnari (
