    It's even scary because with this advanced AI, someone will basically make a fake voiceline of someone they want to cancel and make it say something they won't say as an "evidence" to ruin their lives.

    • @MicahTheManiac

      Yeah that's the scary thing. I remember a few years ago seeing a video talking about how deepfakes can be used (with this technology too) to make anyone say anything. With the recent "trend" of AI cosplay, tho it's not perfect since it still has flaw, but the fact that it's in a stage where it can make a realistic photo, then imagine what a voice one can do.

    • @idontknow-48
      @idontknow-48 Год назад +14

      They could but the problem is still the fact that a actual source for it isn't present.
      Most Genshin VA only appear in videos so it can't be easy to use a fake AI voice (pretending it actually sounded like a real human voice) without proofs of it having a source.
      Most of the Genshin VA only appear in videos (related or unrelated to Genshin) so it would be hard to pretend that they said something back since there are a lot of people in the internet who would be able to easily track back said source and give proofs that it's fake as soon as it comes out.
      So even if the voice sounded real enough the internet would find out it's fake and spread the news even double the speed than the hater sharing the "incriminating message"

    In my oppinion an AI (right now) isn't able to give the exact quality of voice like a human. An AI isn't able to exchange feelings and other expressions... Voice actors are one of the most important partners for developers... Especially if the game they develope is filled with dialogues, voice lines, etc. We have to be aware of this matter and I think Hoyoverse is aware of this too (such like other companies).

      No they can. The one who did the app just didn't have enough training sample. But they can replicate it to a crazy extent. Look at Biden and Trump deep fake voice. The thing about A.I now, it literally learns like the way our brain work. It needs training data. Chat GPT took more than a year to train using Microsoft azure network. In fact, ai models are easier to make than to train.

      @@acertainredburnygirl5265 Nah even if the rendering quality of the AI art is near identical, there's literally zero soul in any of the work. You can tell when something is AI generated even if the rendering quality is good because no matter how perfect a human made work looks there is always error in flaw in it, and that is what makes it feel natural. "Perfection" feels unreal and abnormal. Machine made. Honestly I hate AI, and people trying to use it to do commission work pretending that they're artists when the only effort they had to put in was punching in a few words into a generator. It disgusts me. I'd rather pay money for a real artist to create something for me.

      @acertainredburnygirl5265 Год назад +2

      @@starlette7820 Yep you are right. But as I said, we are in the stage where AI models started to learn about the theory of mind, which is literally a field that studies emotion. It might be long but not impossible for AI to mimic us or even gain consciousness, since our brain is but a very complex biological machine. One of the major differences is that computers (for now) use only 0 and 1 while we humans use 0 to 9.
      But rest assured, the world will pass out laws to limit or even prohibit the development of many kinds of AI if they create any threat. Just like how they banned asexual reproduction.

    On TOP of that, as Christina pointed out, it’s extremely unnerving to hear your own voice used to say things you never agreed to say. It is only one step away from people using these voices to replicate VAs who are also influencers (like Zach Aguilar, Aether’s VA, Khoi Dao, Albedo’s VA, and Alejandro Saab, Cyno’s VA). The mother hung up, saying that she'd do what was necessary, but before that, she called her daughter's mobile phone. Yes this is scary. In my school, we have been talking about how much AI is getting very problematic because how they perform is capable of making things seem realistic and persuasive. Not in only in art and writing, but we’ve had a conversation where it could be very easy to fool someone to believe a voice was legit, meaning “evidence” are potentially fake. AI is capable of producing voices which can be easily used to frame someone. We also talked about how there was a robot that “coded” itself a specific function without a person manually doing so. And how that relates that it’s scary in which these technologies are very advanced to whereas not “yet” released to the public because they are afraid we are not ready. That these advancements could be taken advantaged of towards the community. AI is very harmful when used unwisely, and so there are going to be consequences which I do believe we shouldn’t use AI if we are doing so immaturely

Their contracts specify that they can't use their character voice to actually say anything that's not in the game because that can be taken out of context. I think that one reached already a critical point. There was a case, not even a long while ago, where someone tried to get money from somone. They used the voice of the daughter who wasn't there in the moment (if I remember right she was for few days with her friends somewhere) and tried to trick the mother of her to think they kidnapped her daughter.
    This was in the news. So I think we should stop there^^". It can be funny first until it starts destroying lives (like taking your voice and let it sag things you would never say, trick you family, maybe even get you in trouble with your partner if somone wants that. Really think about that)

    People who argue AI art is simply progress are unable to think beyond the immediately obvious. The problem isn't AI itself, it's how it's used.
    AI technology is great and in fields like medicine it will literally save lives. But having these things unrestricted will lead to a lot of problems.
    Sure, guns replaced swords, but that doesn't mean we should give guns to small children. Cars replaced carriages, but you need a licence to drive them and there are rules how to drive like staying on the right/left (depending on where you live). Photographs were a great invention, but does their existance make it okay to secretly record people naked and publish them? Obviously not.
    With every new invention, there will be laws and restrictions on how to ethically and savely use them. And AI is progressing so rapidly that there are no laws yet or they cannot be applied. For example all the AIs the Genshin community likes to use to produce fanart, cosplay, voice overs etc. violate copyright laws and/or identity laws by using tons of art and pictures of real people without their consent. However these AIs are trained with literally BILLIONS of pictures.
    And you may say "Oh, it's just harmless fanart, it's not hurting anyone". Again, that's like advocating to give everyone and anyone access to guns because they can protect people. Yes, but in reality there will always be people who use these things for bad. For example these same AIs that make cosplay are also used to create deep fake porn. That means making AI porn of celebrities or influencers without their consent and it looks very real. These are real people and this is not some scary scenario but something that is happening right now. Seriously, look it up, some female streamers have already spoken up about ot after finding out there was porn of them being sold. In time, AI will progress and they will be indistinguishable from real recordings. How would you feel if someone sold porn of your body that people believe to be real?
    This discussion isn't only about VAs losing their job, it's about anyone being able to recreate their voice and making them say whatever they want. Someone could make a recording of Keith Silverstein saying "Kill yourself" and send it to his children. Someone could make Erika say sth incredibly racist and claim it's real. Anything horrible you can imagine can and WILL happen if we don't actively advocate for restrictions being set in place to protect real people. AI makes incredible things possible, but where is the line? Progress is being able to screen the human DNA. So if that technology makes it possible to detect and erase heritary diseases, should it also be possible to create your own designer baby with only traits you approve of and erase any undesirable traits?
    Yes, AI is progress. And as with every progress, we need to consider what is ethical and moral instead of just blindly accepting it.

    • @AutumnPlains
      @AutumnPlains Год назад +1

      I agree with regulations but anytime a new groundbreaking invention comes out there are people who oppose it for various hypothetical scenarios to justify their standpoint. When the horseless carriage was invented, many people protested because it would put horse breeding farms out of business. There will always be an argument against a new idea because someone will always suffer. Very rarely does a new invention come out in human history without it negatively affecting SOMEONE.
      There’s also a thing called “standing” so regulations can’t be made without examples to support it. It’s easy to list off world ending examples of a new concept but it’s another to have actual evidence to support it. And to be clear, I’m not supporting AI be used irresponsibly but I’m only mentioning from a legal standpoint “abuse” can be anything and it can only be rectified with facts.
      At the moment (and this can change) people are more worried about AI taking jobs than they are with criminal misconduct. Companies reserve the right to ban AI and so forth but when it comes to AI being used for criminal purposes I would support regulations preventing that from happening.

    AI voice tracing is a thing that can never be used in a good way and that should be illegal, no matter the intention behind it. Even if you try to think of a scenario where it could save a life, it still is abysmally unlikely compared to all the harm it can't bring. So no, voice tracing is not good and will never be a healthy thing. Like imagine you voice a character and you find out your voice is then being used by an AI for mature content without ever having known about it. Yuck.

    The best argument I can see for consent is that they may lose their jobs, but I believe for hoyoverse to officially use their AI voices in genshin they'd need the original owner's permission, since they would be making money off said voice, so again, not really any reason to avoid the voices.
