By far one of the most common questions I get about applying to medical school is whether studying Medicine is still worth it, given all the negative news about working in the NHS as a doctor at the moment. It's definitely difficult at the moment, so in this video are some considerations you should make if you are thinking about going into Medicine. I hope it helps!

Thank you so much for this video. I'm doing my GCSEs right now and this has really opened my eyes to the probelms with the healthcare system right now. I am very dedicated to working towards a career in medicine but I'm afraid about how competitive it is.

Thank you for this. I’m a 20yr old wanting to study medicine at med school because I want to be there to make a difference in peoples lives. I’m starting with no qualifications. I’m both excited and nervous to start this journey!

Having graduated, how do u personally feel about ur decision to do med? x
I have mixed feelings as there are days I love the job and other days that I find quite difficult. Particularly getting used to rotational work I’ve found hard. It is also at times demoralising due to the general decline of the NHS. I think I need to give it some more time as I am very early on in my medical career. However I most certainly would be looking to go less than full-time & will be doing things outside of med to stay well-rounded!

damn working as a doctor sucks i guess in the uk! im a first year med student in the uk. Anything you wish you would do if you were in my position?
I would try to diversify your skills and ensure you are building a CV with components outside of medicine as well, so that you have a plan B if you need it.
Also consider if you’d want to move abroad and look up the pathways/exams for this if you do
