    This video is extremely helpful, especially about making sure patients are comfortable with how they're addressed by doctors. This really helps me to do well in my role play stations, and help me get my offer from Queen's Belfast!!!! Thank you!!!

      @@hibbear Hiya hiba the interview went VERY WELL, your interview practice was by far most helpful source on the internet (i spent houuurrs researching). I mentioned Medicine with European Studies, the course you mentioned in another video (Why Manchester) because that is absolutely perfect for me, but the interviewer gave me a confused look. Did the course get cancelled post-brexit? I can't find it on the website anymore, only elective programs.

      @@adamdodda3751 hey, I’m so glad your interview went well!! I’ve just noticed it’s not on the website anymore too, so maybe it has been stopped for new medical students but I have friends currently in Europe right now as part of their European Studies programme! It’s strange that you got a weird look but maybe the interviewer doesn’t know about it as sometimes they ask nurses etc to conduct interviews. It’s certainly a well known feature of the Medicine programme at Manchester! Good luck with the outcome!

      Hey, thanks for watching. I think the next best option would be to write yourself some questions or scenarios and talk through them out loud (as if you pretending to talk to someone). This will still help you to practice communicating more fluently during your MMI.

    Hi Hibbear, thanks for your video suggestions, love the professionalism of premed content coming from the UK... The way you have approached the acting stations appears to be the generic format for breaking bad news. Spikes.. but my question is do you systematically use spikes for every acting situation or scenario in the MMI? It feels a little unnatural or over the top in certain contexts, do you agree?

    • @hibbear
      @hibbear  Год назад +1

      Hey, thank you for the question and apologies that I haven’t responded sooner. The answer to your question is no, I wouldn’t use this for every scenario in an MMI and I agree if that was to be done it would be over the top. I would only recommend this if the scenario is specifically one where you’re told to communicate something negative to the patient. Also, as a medical applicant who is not a med student yet I would not be expecting you to use every single part of SPIKES. Just have the framework in the back of your mind and use whatever feels relevant for the scenario.
