New in version 2 are fibers, plys, weave types such as chevron, herringbone and basketweave. The textile generator is not an AI tool.
PSA for those using Substance Player: Go to Options -> Switch Engine and make sure to be using Direct3d 11 to use GPU rendering, which will give much better performance.
I am a textile industry veteran with more than 25 years experience and I can tell you that this is one game changer too.
Im also transitioning to the 3D industry so lots to learn for me. Thank you for investing your time on this video.
You are brilliant, and I can only imagine the amount of problem solving you went through and agonized over to complete this. I hope it generates lots of sales! I’ll be sure to pick up a copy the next time I need something of this kind.
Agony is a good word :) Thanks a lot for the compliments!
I'm in awe of what creators can do when they get proper funding to focus on the subject they're passionate about!
Thanks for creating this, this is unique and beautiful!❤
Thanks Neat!
Damn, RUclips should've recommended this to me 8 days ago. Really happy to see the textile get an update. Gonna try it right now. Thank you, Laura.
I've spent some time with the textile generator 1.0 and just from this video it looks like the update adds so much more breadth to waht you can do. Thank you for selling your soul to the gods of textiles for us 🙏
This looks phenomenal, Laura!! 🎉
Now take a well-earned rest because I imagine you've done enough math in the last couple months that you're seeing the matrix when you close your eyes 😂
I absolutely see textiles and fibers when I close my eyes. I'm taking a week off as a personal gift :)
I recognize a well-made tool when I see one. Amazing job, Laura.
Oooh thanks Robin! Means a lot coming from you.
that level of detail is incredible! Awesome job!
Thanks Trip! It took a lot of work.
Hi Laura, this looks absolutely amazing! Congratulations on finishing version 2.0, I can only imagine the staggering amount of work and research that went into this project.
I work for Ashley Furniture's CGI department right now and we're currently trying to find better ways to recreate fabrics that have to be put on furniture models. We're lacking a dedicated material artist and have researched scan technology to try to solve this issue, but no decisions have been made so far. I'm definitely going to send this to my supervisors and one of our lead / tech artists to see if it's something that we could implement into our workflow. We mainly use Substance Designer and tiling textures combined with 3DS Max's real-world-scale workflow, so this would fit perfectly with that.
Thanks for the compliments Elizabeth! Sounds indeed like this tool is exactly what you need, send me an email when you want to talk about how to collaborate. Cheers!
Laura, this looks so amazing! Thanks for all the great work and contribution.
So happy to be a day one supporter of this amazing tool! Thanks for the update I LOVE IT and use it almost daily!
That's awesome! I keep thinking no one uses my stuff sometimes cuz I'm blind to what people do with it haha.
Glad, your back. I really enjoy your content, entertaining and educational at the same time
Thanks! Glad to be back!
Laura, you have saved many peoples lives with this.
I'm sure I've saved the lives of a few digital characters yes ;)
You're a life saver! I can't wait to use this on my next character project! Thank you Laura, this is seriously such an amazing tool!
Just so you know, in the video it says the discount runs until March 6th, but in the video description and on the website it says August 6th. Anyway, it looks crazy as hell, haha.
lol I don't know why my mind went to August haha. Fixed now, cheers!
This tool looks amazing Laura. It's great to see a new upload from you again in such a long time.
This is amazing Laura can't wait to let everyone know about this! Congrats!
Cheers Gordon!
this is genuinely brilliant, incredible work!
Thanks Matthew!
This is simply wonderful! I already want to use this in a future project
this is the best textile texture i ever saw TBH. best of all is its a TOOL! with the UNLIMITED possibility.
I appreciate that Tommy, thank you!
This is absolutely amazing Laura!
I've been complaining about textiles in games for a while now as I'm sure you know :) Let's hope this makes a difference.
It looks incredible! Congratualtions on fantastic work

This is just amazing. Just bought a personal license!
Thank you Fabrizio :) Hope it's useful!
Congratulations you've done it. This is amazing 😮
Amazing!! Is there the ability to add holes and damages in a future release? thanks a lot
It's absolutely on the feature wishlist for future releases!
So cool! Amazing work of technical art 👏🔥
Heck yeah!! This is really awesome!! Purchased and already playing with it!!

Good Lord, what a tool! Bravo, Laura!👏💯
Thank you!
This is huge! Congratulations!
Thanks!
is that you or is it not you behind the uv video about the configurator? i purchased those tutorials but nothing happens when I click on activate
Is the license perpetual or timely basis?
and discount is not being applied idk why
This is pure art!
Ok when are we getting the Hair and Braids version?😁
Haha! When I can duplicate myself and work multiple jobs
Oh my god couldn't wait for this moment! I've seen it in action in Mike Cauchi's streams and it looks amazing! One question tho, I already have the version 1 and it was stated that I would get future updates with the pro version. Is this version the "update"? If so, how can I get it since I don't have an account on your platform.
Edit: not that I didn't want to make one, just couldn't find how to create a simple account and not subscribe to the full Outgang studio package. Anyways I have receipts and everything needed as proof of purchase if needed! Hope I'll be able to play with it soon! Thanks for the effort you've put into this
Hey Potassio, when you bought version 1 (the Pro version) the website created an account for you and emailed you a temporary password. If you don't have that email, you can use the password reset form here: outgang.studio/reset-password/ . If you can't make that work, write to me at help@outgang.studio and I'll sort things out for you. Cheers!
I don't know why that email never reached me. Anyways thank you for the fast response, I could reset the password and access the account! So excited to use this new version, thanks again!
Great work. :D This is amazing.
It’s good to see u again keep it up 🎉
Good to be back :D
Quiet a product in terms of Variability. How do you apply these textures to clothes and areas that have stitches or double stitches like in Jeans and Jackets and the fading that comes along the Stitched area.
What I typically do is bake out a curvature pass for the model in a way that picks up the seams and stitches and use it as a mask to desaturate the textile. Curvature map goes on UV1, tiling detail map on UV2, and simple code to desaturate the tiling detail map based on the curvature map.
@@OutgangMany thanks. Is there a video of the process? It will be useful to have one.
@@vivektyagi6848 I'm planning a condensed "making of" for RUclips and a long-form variant for my platform. No eta on that but I want to talk about the process.
@@OutgangThat'll be Awesome help. Many Thanks.
I'm excited to use this, but sadly I haven't been able to get it to load. I get am error console reading: 'cannont find outputs to cook' and 'cannot load Substance 3D binary file'. Frustrating...
hi laura! i am curious about what you think of the future of 3d in relation to ai. i am pretty sure other people are curious about your opinion too
I think about it all the time but I don't have an opinion worth sharing yet. I'm just passively watching the latest developments like everyone else. One thing that's interesting to think about though: Many years ago a lot of people, myself included, thought that photogrammetry would spell the death of anatomy sculpting and to this day I still get many people requesting me to do body sculpting demos/tutorials, so I'd be cautious about predicting the death of 3d art even if/when AI starts generating 3d models well. Mind you I'm just a rando internet fool.
Hey, where you go ???
Nice too hear from, you again. Although awesome I do feel that the outgang is a little neglected. Well I gues it is the pitfall of creating a universe out such tiny details as an artist. Don't get me wrong, it is rather impressive but I think you can relate.
Looking forward to making more content tbh
Does this use anisotropy at all?
I believe that would be shader related more than texture related. This doesn't do shaders, but it outputs just about any texture you'd need to set up a shader. There's a weft/warp mask that can be used to mask the threads, allowing you to set different anisotropy values in your shader editor.
Absolute madness level!! Wow
Thank you!
insane update!
Wow thats amazing!
You are my hero
@@Outgang Adam Jensen - being my avatar since i first played Deus ex Human revolution, both with mankind divided two of the best games ever! and I also played the first game 24 years ago.
this is incredible! :)
Thanks!
I am still waiting to the 3d model of son of tifa and cloud you talked about before
Please release it.. part two of the game already announced so i am so excited now😂😂❤
excellent work Laura! keep it up :)
Thanks Iskato!
Fantastic and unique!
Unfortunately, I only saw this video today and I have missed the 50% discount
I just looked at the licensing for this, the single use license that allows commercial use, am I to understand that it can only be used for one project, that you have to pay $400 for each project you want to use it on?
Yes, if that project is expected to make more than 100,000$. The 400$ license is meant to cover use cases like games or vfx productions, for which 400$ is a drop in the bucket and a pretty standard price.
@@Outgang Ok thank you, just wanted to make sure I understand the license correctly
@@jasminecaulden1089 No worries! I know the licensing scheme doesn't cover all possible scenarios that people might want to use the generator for. Always happy to hear about how people want to use it and find a scheme that makes everyone happy. Email me if you want to talk more about that. Cheers!
@@Outgang Thanks and right now I just need to have textures for models I'm making that maybe people might be interested in buying. Though my end goal is to one day make an animation. Currently I only use free stuff till I'm in a position where I can afford to start buying things.
@@jasminecaulden1089 Yeah you'd really just need the indie license in that case. Cheers!
An incredible work. It's admirable. Congratulations! Not just is expensive now the AI can do the same and better for a cheaper price It's a reality. Sorry for being rude but someone has to say it.
I'm aware of how AI affects the future of tools such as these. Thankfully, some artists and studios would rather not use AI tools when given the chance.
Which AI could be used for this?
It's a very great job. But also a very heavy node. Why 32 bits? For color, 8 is enough. Normal 8-16. Height 16. I think optimization is required. For myself, I immediately screwed down nodes in the designer.))
Anything less than 32-bit internally leads to banding, the generator requires lots of floating point calculations, even for the color map. The outputs can be set to whatever bit depth you need them to be but changing that wouldn't have an impact on performance. It's not meant to be a real-time tool, my focus was quality first, speed second.
@@Outgang Thanks for the detailed response. Customizing in the substance player and saving successful presets is much more convenient.
This is Insane
So textile generator uses crap ton of data and computing power and then creates fromt hat complex model a "simplified" multi layer textured version of the data that's easier to compute but performs well enough? That's quite clever... I think this type of thing is done extensively in the industry and is kinda obvious, but I have never come across this before.
Nice. Learning every day.
This is awesome!
Excellent!
Incredible
Thank you :)
Fiiiiiirst!!!!!!
Edit: It looks awesome!
hey man, that's great!
🤌🤌🤌
Guess what! I have a strong feeling miss Gallagher that you are behind Lara Croft 2024 yet again. somehow you are, you have to be and if so THANK GOD!
Haha! Unfortunately I have no involvment with that project.
you is what he or she
i love you but i need to know what are you
