    Although screws and nails are the quick and easy fasteners, using dowels for joining pieces are the mark of a true craftsman who has respect for himself and his/her work. :) Speaking from experience.

    Hacer cajas y espigas
    Jaja aclaro no soy ebanista

      Part of me says that, given the thickness and expected duty, it's fine. Part of me says that, given the preexisting checking on the brown/yellow wood in the center, it'll definitely split.
      They're obviously fairly skilled carpenters, even if they don't have all the shiny gadgets. The fit of every joint is tight and precise. Probably even too tight in places.
      I think they took a calculated risk to get the aesthetic the way they/their client wanted.

      Who would have thought that a member of the late 80s rap group Public Enemy would have gone on to be such a know it all regarding woodwork. That's impressive ChuckD.
      What does Flava Flav do these days?

    • @chuckd2483
      @chuckd2483 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@timbirch4999 The observations mentioned in the original post do not require extensive woodworking knowledge. Rather they are components of Woodworking 101, and even down at the middle school level. They are observations that even a complete lacky such as yourself should be able to identify.
