I had a bit of a break from cross stitch for a while and came back to it around 5 years ago, but I've always stitched in hand. I definitely find it faster too! I'm glad you're enjoying coming back to this fab hobby 😄
Nothing wrong with diving in at the deep end... you'll get the hang of it soon enough, and I'm delighted if my videos can help you 😊 Fair warning...cross stitching can be very addictive 😂
Dang…as I think of my large cross stitch on linen from years ago that I never finished. I’m mostly bed bound, at least for the foreseeable future, so I’ve been thinking about getting back into it. Sitting is almost out of the question for the moment.
Cross stitch has a way of drawing you back and if you can find a way to stitch in bed then I am sure you'll love it. I guess you'd have to try if it's easier with or without a hoop or frame, but at least you know that going without one is an option. I have stitched very large projects without so it absolutely can be done. But you could also find a smaller project to try out in case that is easier to start with. I hope you find a way to give it a try 😄🩷
I want to try this also but im confused which should i choose ..bec i found out theres a two types of threads the silk and the cotton i dont know the difference between the two and i like brighter colour so i dunno of which of the two is better to use
I have to say I have only ever used cotton embroidery thread and I generally prefer DMC brand. So I can't really speak to the silk or satin threads but I did find an article that might help you; lordlibidan.com/are-satin-and-silk-threads-worth-using/ If you are brand new to cross stitch then I would definitely recommend DMC stranded cotton thread as this will be the easiest to use. I have heard some stitchers say the silk/satin threads are trickier to use.
Wait... you're SUPPOSED to use the hoop while stitching? I'm a beginner and thought you were supposed to put the finished product in it for displaying... didn't realize it was a tool too.
It's funny that a lot of people start out using a hoop and don't realise it isn't essential... but you're the other way round 😂 I am a big fan of hoops for displaying finished pieces, but while stitching...ugh. I have tried with a hoop several times and just find it awkward to hold, and I stitch faster without it! I always say try with and without to see which you like best but there's no right or wrong...despite what some stitchers will tell you! Happy stitching either way 😄
I hadn’t cross stitched for about 25 years, I recently started stitching again and am stitching in hand. I find it more enjoyable and so much faster.

@@catkinandlillie It does feel a bit awkward trying to hold the hoop and stitch. Thanks for the video btw!
