Oh God I love her. Rewatching the past seasons of Idol now, and I really appreciate how good Jessica is in comparison to the previous contestants.

This little girl can hit notes like old school Black woman soul level beautiness. Jennifer and the rest of the judges, s*** up and take notes instead of looking for something that are not their. Jlo may not be the most talented vocally but that doesn't mean she doesn't know singing enough to not be able to coach somebody. Randy isnt a singer either but he knows how to still coach somebody

I disagree on Steven Tyler's comment. Jessica Sanchez was forced to do ballads. As attested by her time as a RUclips singer, she is not all about ballads (Thia Megia from season 10 is known to be so). She is capable of pulling off uptempo just like Beyoncé. Relying on ballads alone is a crutch. It sends a mixed message.
I have to strongly disagree Jenifer Lopez and Steven Tyler themselves don't stick to singing only one type of song. And singing only ballads doesn't show off her voice in uptemo songs . And it only doesn't let her really step outside the box . Her voice on the song was good and she really made you turn the beat around. There isn't one singer that only singed one style of song. That's like telling a teacher to only teach one chapter out of the book the entire school year and not the other chapters. With this being said Jessica's voice is powerful and strong. And you can't just box that into singing only this style. Because as a singer her voice is good in any style. Even Beyonce didn't stick to just singing song's like Halo and I was here. She gave us songs like 7/11, Diva, Single ladies, and End of time.

she was so amazing! i really disagree with what the jugges has to say. come on. She's a good ballad singer but that doesnt mean that she cant sing any other genre. She's really diverse with any kind of song. this performance was amazingg!
There is no better singer than Jessica Sanchez. Contrary to CzarAice01 and agreeing with Hannah Clarissa Masilang, this version tops the Vicky Sue Robinson original.

It's annoying because we all know even the judges know she have the Voice! And she picks really good songs to fit her voice but they keep on pushing her that her talent is just basically pop or rnb. All comments from judges are always the same.
What are the judges talking about here...I actually thought this was one of her better performances. Normally the lyrics get lost or jumbled by lesser singers because of the weather tempo, but every word was clear. Those three were way off. Her vibrato? Jennifer could use a little. It would maybe help HER intonation. The producers probably told them they HAD to give her criticisms, so there would be a little drama.

Just wondering... They have guest artist who helps out the contestants. They have not reacted to her vibrato and no negative feedback received... It is just telling us that the judges disagreed with how the guest artist mentored the contestants.. just an observation.. hehe

Meh, not something I would want to hear on the radio. Some parts forced and over the top with vibrato. Strong voice though. Agreed with Jlo.have to be with the rhythm. Cannot lag with an upbeat song like this.

Hey, an up tempo number by her! The comments about her timing and rhythm seemed a bit harsh to me but maybe my ear isna good enough to pick it up. The overall balance was bad as the backing tended to drown her out. She'd have sounded more impressive if they'd miked her up more against the band.
"there wasn't a lot to choose from." what does she mean? I know there's a list of songs the competitors have to choose, which doesn't seem fair (but hey, that's show biz.) what if nothing on the list works for the singer?

She killed it!!!
she did not sound good on this song, she missed the pace a couple of times and she went high in places that made it awkward. Jennifer was right that you need to keep that pace, Jessica's voice didn't keep it. her voice is killer but not on this song. Randy said it best, it didn't show her strengths as a singer and she struggled because of it....she had fun, she made a good attempt, but she didn't NAIL it
William Skelton the problem was when she growled (the upside DOWN,” and especially when said sang the phrase “your thing OUT”), she ran out of breath and sacrificed the rhythm in a couple of parts there for moments of those impressive growls.
