As a mother of an adult child with special needs, I know how vulnerable these special people are. Sending prayers for her family & all those who love her! I pray they find her soon. It seems the possibility of finding her alive & safe at this late date may be slim, but you never know. Even a recovery would help the family get some closure. It would be difficult, but it would allow them to bring her home & be laid to rest with the family. I pray God answers the family’s prayers for answers quickly!! Amen!!🙏🏻

Ok, Aurora LE clearly did not get the memo that a person's safety trumps the "adults can do what they want" idea. Give me a break, law enforcement. You work for this family not the other way around. Local news, you are borrowing the airwaves from the public, you also work for them. Do better Colorado, I know you can. Adults can not, believe it or not, "do whatever they want". That is why we have laws, protection of the police department, and live in a society. This beautiful person has some serious issues that makes her vulnerable to bad characters. Thank you John for making this missing person a real PERSON.

Exactly! No matter how well she handled her disabilities, Felecia could *not* just "do whatever she wanted". She could not walk without assistance! I live with chronic illness and invisible disabilities, and I hope that, should I ever go missing, local law enforcement would not treat my family like they did Felicia's, and disregard that there are some things that I physically cannot do, and need meds that are every bit as vital as Felicia's wheelchair. I've worked with chair-bound people, and though they're capable of a whole lot, they have very specific vulnerabilities too. That the police overlooked this is inexcusable.

Hello John. Thank you for covering this case. My thoughts go out to the family in this instance. Given her medical condition why would she not be classed as an endangered or vulnerable missing person? Does LE have CCTV or ANPR to track? Has she received prescriptions or medications or the treatment necessary for her condition sunce she left? I have so many questions.
You and her family have described her character and soul so well. Given the humungous number of missing people across the US it can become easy to devalue that person to a missing statistic.
All missing people deserve respect and dignity, regardless of background and circumstances and you always cover these cases professionally.

That's what I'm wondering most too - how did the police brush off the family of a missing woman with CP who needed mobility devices and regular medical care? Was it simple incompetence and laziness, or were other factors involved? How was she not considered to be endangered missing from the start? Cops like these are the reason why so many people don't trust the police.

This is a really painful case. The police response is beyond frustrating. It's infuriating.
It's depressing, sickening, and enraging, that what the people from the news told the family is true.
The term "missing white woman syndrome" is used, as white women and girls from middle class or upper class backgrounds often get disproportionate coverage in the media compared to other cases.
But on top of that, the way this has been handled by law enforcement is really inadequate. When someone goes missing that should be enough. But she has Cerebral Palsy, on top of that. I don't think it's acceptable to just suggest that a person has probably just left of their own accord without even looking into it, let alone a woman with Cerebral Palsy.
I really hope that this case gets resolved, and that cases like this get the attention they deserve from the police and the media.

Colorado is beautiful but it’s stunning how many bungled investigations & missed opportunities to prevent incidents have happened. From JonBennett to James Holmes to Lori Vallow.
No force is perfect. But some states don’t learn from their mistakes. I think columbine was handled well, though preventable. And I guess they died so it was just tactical response not investigation.
The Watts family. Ugh- I’ve had nightmares about the officer handling them-missing Suzanne Morphew’s bike with his bare hands. Just dragging it up to the street without so much as a photo from where it had been tossed over the edge.
It was entertaining but I still don’t know why Marvin Heemeyer wasn’t stopped quickly. My heart broke for Dylan Redwine.
I’m in an area with more than it’s share of serial killers. People across the country could probably easily list a few infamous cases. But at least our law enforcement tends to take violent crime seriously, regardless of the victim.
There are a few southern small town sheriffs departments living up to corruption stereotypes, and Colorado where you just can’t rely on police in the moment you need them most.
They exist as part of the social contract. We pay them, cover their training, make it a job unlike the many towns with all volunteer fire departments, and when we need it, they use their training, expertise and experience to help us.
If they don’t help, they aren’t holding up their end & shouldn’t get a taxpayer funded paycheck.

In my state I believe there is a law that if a person has a disability the Police must file a missing persons report immediately, but that may not be the case everywhere. The fact that the Police do have a couple of people they want to talk to offers some hope that they are making progress.

Just based on that dumba$$ name I would be suspicious of that man. And then a man named Dave. Surprised it’s not Jack Smith.
made me cry when her sis questioned the whole SM influencer- missing pretty white woman syndrome. Media to be blamed. A black geologist went missing at the same time as Gaby, pursuing a way more useful career than van life 🤦🏽‍♀️, but his dad is a lone warrior on his case.
Who knows the name Evelyn Hernandez, While we get Laci Peterson uploads ad nauseum. Even now there are multi part series here on YT. I told the creator to cover Evelyn next, let’s see if she does.

You know you can have your opinion. Gabby petito is not to be blamed, the media is. Gabby life was just as important as the geologist and felicia. Actually social media is the reason a lot of cases get covered.

My comment is in no way an attack on Gabby Petito, who is the victim of a horrible crime, but I do think there's some truth in the pretty white missing woman syndrome, sadly. However this shouldn't affect police work whatsoever! This syndrome is something the public at large can buy into, but not LE.
Something that I think helps catch people's attention and imagination is video footage, of which in the Petito's case we had an abundance of: think of the police body cams as well as her own vlog posts. There's something a little morbid about this perhaps, but it's also natural.
That said, I firmly believe everyone deserves the same police resources, attention and commitment and I pray we're getting closer to a society with no second class citizens.

@@kathybartlett624 infact I think Gabbys legacy was she helped us start this conversation. I felt it even in the throes of it. I would find myself saying “Gabby in death you helped open our eyes and start a conversation”. Media is the culprit. After 23 years in media- we were obsessed with the Nielsen Audience rating. OMG 🤦🏽‍♀️

Someone’s occupation should not make a difference in how much media coverage they get, any more than their race, gender, age, etc should.

@jasminesploots6986 She is white tho... Just look at her and her family. They all look *VERY* white. Just because someone is Hispanic & has the last name "Martinez" doesn't mean they aren't considered "white". Look at George Zimmerman - everyone referred to him as a white male when he was also Hispanic.
The media likely didn't cover this case as swiftly as Gabby Petito because of the large age diffference, lack of information, and lack of social media presence.
