It can be even worse... In Japan they make Ikizukuri - basically cuts meat from the fish while fish is still alive and plates it with the body so you can watch the fish slowly die while you eat.
I love watching the preparation of the food but I can't eat raw seafood or anything still moving after you chop it up. In my mind I'm broiling or frying it.😊
Well I'm not a big pro animal guy but at least kill them before you prepare them, they don't have to die in agony while you are preparing a meal. This 30s or even 2 minutes between killing and preparing them will not destroy the taste
yeah, still got the 4 hour old infected blood of the previous sea creature on your food from the unwashed slicing machine. just add wasabi and eat it raw. Hopefully no parasite.

Respectfully, I'm not sure how "traditions" of a culture make an act any more or less cruel and "unfair" to "judge harshly". Things are what they are. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just pointing out that facts are well, facts and worry over culutural sensitivies are perhaps misplaced.
I respect this kind of street food, or just food preparation in general. To some it seems barbaric, but I think it's very honest food in that you see exactly where your food comes from. You appreciate the circle of life and the animal that died for your sustenance. It's not some more-or-less guilt-free slab of beef or minced meat that's lying in a freezer disk at your local supermarket. It's an actual animal being butchered in front of your eyes, and I, for one, would appreciate the meal a lot more after seeing that.
Yeah true, most people dont want to see the animal being killed but want the food nicely cut and stored in plastic..... If everyone had to kill his/her own food... there would be a lot less animal food consumption. Think the main part is altough most like the food but dont want the animal to suffer... so when the kill is fast and clean then i dont have a problem with it. Things like boiling or steaming when animal is still alive i do have a problem with it...
@@RK-fp7ob Yea, this is the only improvement I want to add to this. It takes no time at all to make a quick incision to kill the animal near instantly, it is cruel to let them suffer for more than what's needed.
