I'd just like to thank you for inspiring me to fix up old Nintendo stuff. I got a Super Famicom a week ago, which sadly, turned out not to work, but I decided to open it up, since I've seen from your videos, even the worst condition stuff can be fixed. It was absolutely filthy inside, and turns out all I had to do was go over the board with IPA, remove all the plastic and give it a wash and dry, and I was able to restore that SFC! Cleaning the pin connector thoroughly and cleaning off the board totally fixed it up!
This one time i got a dsi that worked but had issues turning on. After watching Elliots videos, i decided to take it apart, clean everything on the inside and out thoroughly with alcohol and made sure everything was as is, and now it doesnt work at all 🥲
Have seen these floating around a lot lately, really appreciate you showing how to make it! The d pad issues made this so relatable, one doesn't always get things done perfectly the first (or second) time around :D
Hi I always watched your content(Which is very interesting) and I always wanted to ask where do you buy the broken Nintendos and where can I buy them if I'm from Russia?
Now you need one for game boy advance and game boy sp. Look forward to see u come to Norwich again in future. Which is where I'm from same as ashens. You go to a game shop I go to in Norwich too. Keep up the great work
@@marcusjay8103 do you think all that stuff just magically showed up at his house without his prior knowledge? I doubt it! The moment he agreed to make a video about some free stuff they were going to send him, it is a sponsorship. Payments for sponsorships can be in money, goods or services. In this case it is the free goods he received.
@@stevenhoneyman But you are assuming everything you state? If it was an advert then I'm sure he would have said something, yes it's extremely popular for people to leave out the fact it's a sponsored post but Elliott seems to have decent morals and not the type of guy to lie about something that is full well illegal to do. Don't think he would risk losing his channel and possibility of a lawsuit.
You are totally right, I noticed that too and it's annoying. RUclipsrs are obviously paid thousands of dollars for sponsored videos when they consider free shit that is worth hundreds of dollars as insignificant and 'not sponsored'.
This video inspired me to make an art piece of an old, non-working cassette deck that I had lying around. When I took it apart, I realized it was an easy fix, so I fixed it. Now I have a working cassette deck, but still no art piece. Edit: I should also say that using two-sided foam tape would be a lot more convenient for this use.
Ooooo, that looks very nice! Kinda like the idea Logan Paul had for his one. But...not shit, and minus the vomit-inducing aspect. A bit keen to nab a worn down handheld and try it meself haha.
now make one with a functioning gameboy inside, put all the wiring behind the Paper panel and add a nes controller port to the side or something like thath :D
It's a nice idea based on the iconic Haynes car manual artwork, but sadly there's plenty of room for improvement. I appreciate quality print isn't cheap and it's aimed an a niche market (therefore low numbers of production for batches), however the overall minimal design doesn't shout value for money for essentially a basic picture frame. I'm amazed they haven't used pre-drilled screw holes to hang and align the shell halves and motherboard. Vendors such as Retro Modding, Zedlabs, etc do aftermarket screws, so they're readily available. Why try to reinvent the wheel? Also, the Super Mario DX scene would've looked better if it had been a separate print to stick to the Gameboy lens, creating less shadows when displayed. They could've saved materials by making it a pop out piece from the main backing board. As for gluing components to the board, I think the double sided foam pads should be supplied - you can source some from Zedlabs, for example. (Not having a go at Elliott for rushing videos or using package foam rather than ordering and waiting for supplies; he's trying to make the most of his "Covid Alcatraz" downtime - get well soon)
I love the idea of an informational piece of art made from old tech, but I really dont love the design that this company has come up with. The ad lib space fillers like "1UP" and "GET READY" feel really out of place. Its so camp. Just fill the space with more info about the actual motherboard or something. All you get is like speaker, A and B button, yeah I could have told you that. Idk on paper this is a really cool kit idea, in practice I wish literally anybody else was behind it to do a better job
They do look good but £150 is such a rip off - im sure someone has uploaded a photo copy of the sheet by now and with a £5 ikea frame you can do it yourself eo much cheaper
This is brilliant. They'll sell you a printed piece of cardboard and a dollar store frame for 60 bucks, and you gotta put the broken Game Boy yourself! It looks like cheap garbage, but hey, that's marketing right there.
I've seen these posted all over, and I like them a lot. But they're way to expensive. I wouldn't mind making one myself. All I really need is the print out section. And I imagine if I look online, someone may have made a downloadable version I could get printed at a Kinkos or other print shop. Ikea sells a similar frame for only $20.
The site actually sells a downloadable version of the template to get printed for a little under 10 dollars, way more reasonable than the 200 dollar completed display!
@@udawg34 I did not know that. Thanks! I'll look into that. Yea, if that's only $10, and the similar Ikea frame I saw was $20. I already have the proper tools and I think the glue or Command Strips (which would've solved some of problems Elliot had). That's much more reasonable.
Looks like a competitor to Grid Studio, sporting a near identical look. However these guys have DIY which is interesting. Grid Studio seems to have some solid support however; my GBC came damaged and they've sent me a replacement for free without sending the original back!
theres quite a few companies doing this at the moment, its better than chucking faulty gameboys away And as proven, anyone can do it themselves for cheaper!
I’m glad you noticed the spas was off centre. The thing that still bugged me though is the motherboard also wasn’t centred. The lines for headphone surely should line up with the centre of the port. At least you’ve another cardboard in case you want to fix it.
Haha these people contacted me about doing a sponsored video as well, interesting to see someone taking them up on the offer 😅 I must admit the artwork does look very cool - I reckon that frame would look even better with some lighting in it!
My wife made one from one of my DMG for Christmas. She used a shadow box from smiley box company and some craft material she had. Printed her own background display. The device can be put back together and is fully functional. Great video sir!
U use after market shells but you prefere better condition speakers and power select membranes? Why dont u use a original shell? Love the channel !!!🙌❤️
Elliott! They don't have a DIY DMG kit. 😕 I was going to take my brother-in-law's original (not working) and make him a piece. Any chance you can light a fire under them to get a DMG version going? After all, they have two GBC ones. 🤷♂️ Thanks man!
I'm gonna do this with an Ipod Mini a friend gave me that died. Sadly none of the companies that do these shadowboxes have a template for the mini. Gonna be calling up my old Graphic Design skills for the backdrop on that one.

I think the glue you used turns to rubber you should be able to rub it away gently without damage
