    2:45 You can see how the distortion is warping here. I've noticed the same thing on the 24mm, the profile correction in C1 actually changes throughout the focus range.

    I'm always glad to hear about any focus breathing, it's not just for video! Focus stacking for wide angle landscapes are annoyingly affected by focus breathing. Thanks guys!

    • @dannyli9424
      @dannyli9424 2 года назад

      Yeah, focus stacking, if you asked me, this is a pretty bad lens for landscape if you a lot of focus stacking, and he never even mentioned the massive massive distortion and the heavy vignette if you do a lot of interior and architecture, the two biggest take away from this lens.

    I wouldn't say that focus breathing isn't a big deal in still especially when it comes to shooting landscapes since if you try to do focus stacking with a lens like this that breathes hard it would be next to impossible.

    • @joezuu
      @joezuu 2 года назад +3

      Not next to impossible, just annoying. I've done tons of focus stacks with heavily breathing lenses. You just have to make sure you do your framing where the fov is narrowest, which may be at the closest focusing distance.

    • @mattdebyl8806
      @mattdebyl8806 2 года назад +3

      The majority of breathing happens going from close focus (in this case really rather close) to infinity. Not much occurs when going from say a few meters to infinity. This is something people seem to forget when talking about breathing.

    • @jensdanbolt6953
      @jensdanbolt6953 2 года назад

      It shouldn't matter for the lens review; distortion and vignette can always be removed in post, at a certain cost in noise and resolution in the affected areas. The lens has the qualities and flaws that it has, independent of which edits you or an algorithm choose to do in post.

    Excellent concise & uplifting review! You could do more lenses!
    Still, the most outrageous element of the video is the marketing claim - architecture resembling germano-austrian alpine style. Does that mean
    - Canadian architecture with a super-light, digestible flavor of European tradition
    - architect has never been to Europe, neither bothered using google images / instagram. Not to mention consulting a book or anything
    - AI design program keen to be fed with real world data, in order to become usable
    Any other suggestions? discussion points?
    Another question about comparison - many Canikon people also own Sony ff bodies. I happen to be one of this crowd. The not very old, highly acclaimed Sigma art f1.4 20mm is available for like 400 USD used, the f2.0 won't offer such prices until the next higher performing model comes out.
    For me, nuances in image quality on the Sigma art series' level of perfection - can't be bothered. I own & use far worse. I buy such a toy for fun and scenes with people. I also do a lot of landscapes and some architecture . Who tells me to go for top quality? My hero in shooting landscapes is a cinematographer, Bernard Knowles. Who in his great days was not offered anything worth using the word resolution. I am tempted to use a 4 letter ... in front of resolution for what he's left us from the 1930ies. Great art!
    (Obviously, you could not review according to my standards. The pixel-peeper mafia would kill you, not leave much for your families to be buried. And who on earth should take me seriously?)
    The art - record luminosity for an ultra wide - quite a temptation. With digital bodies nobody needs f1.4 or faster, agreed. I buy glass for the look, not to produce test charts

    austrian - german moutain "towns" does not look like that fake town ;) in NO way this is similar. i think it's more like a canadian dream about that, but has nothing to do with the real ones.

      Fanboy alert 🚨 You know you can’t get this lens for your Nikon right? Nothing to ‘stick with’ because you can’t possibly change.
