Haha I'm just trying to figure out what it's for and what difference sharp pointy ends make ☠️🤦♀️🤷♀️🤣 I love watching these videos even though I've NEVER welded anything. I used to love watching my engineer father being able to fix anything and everything. Now I get my fix from RUclips 😂
@dustymccloud1840 that is true, but dulling the very end of the tip just slightly helps. I've seen an arc bounce around a bit with a perfectly sharp point, and placing the tip on the grinder very lightly solves that issue.
On steel a sharp point allows for a more concentrated heat transfer. In other words the puddle is smaller and hotter. It makes it easier to control. Aluminum is different, as when it starts the tungsten creates a small ball at the end.
@@TheWeldProfessor Unfortunately due to covid I'm stuck in a shop full of golden arms. Can't wait to get a rig back together and gtfo of here. Been watching your videos for years now dude. You're definitely an inspiration.

I like sharp as well. Good job. I like TIG for stainless and aluminum. Clean welds, less smoke, very little slag. Love it.
That's a weapon right there
That's a tungsten right there
You should not get them that sharp… nah I’m fucking with you I know absolutely nothing about TIG welding 😂

I think it helps concentrate the arc for a more controlled welding experience. But I'm not sure I'm not a welder.

Why do you sharpen them? Is it to get an Easier start on your lines? I dont weld so idk 🤷🏻♂️
Sharp point makes my lighting bolt ⚡️ perfect 👌
It makes that puddle dance like how it should
If you don't see the lighting bolt your doing it wrong
35° angle will be best, brush the heat marks off before, when you hit the arch the heat marks will blow in to your weld and contaminate it.
I like what I do. No contamination silly
What tungsten you using?👍🇬🇧
Red
100th like for ya
👍
Grind marks should be parallel with the length of the electrode IMHO
🤙
Same for me. I catch shit for it. But its my money not theirs.
I don't work around idiots so i don't get nada

can i work with you
Bro. Gotta get on my application list that's where I'm picking the talent from.
bro these look like what the torturer was sticking into Griffith
I mean that’s definitely not how it’s supposed to be but if it works for you it works🤷🏽♂️ 👍
Not how it's supposed to be done. Lol 😆 funniest thing ever
I only sharpen a 30 degree angle on mine
Yeah I never do that 😆
I cam get them that sharp using a cutting torch😊😊😊😮😮
The weld professor knows how to tig ? He has no footage of him tigging. More money in stick anyways
Not yet done a bunch bout to push. Keep telling yourself them things 😆
You get more penetration with more of an angle and less tungsten breaks off, just FYI
Yeah sure whatever ya think
@@TheWeldProfessor Go read the modules and get a red seal brother
@jg8060 how about stop wasting my time ⏲️
