  • Join me and Jocelyn (the "Relic Recoverist" on RUclips) as we have our first metal detecting hunt in the first evening we arrived in Shropshire England courtesy of Metal Detecting Holidays. This was a hunt we went to after our Garrett Metal Detecting appearance at the Detectival event. We were later joined by "Ringy" of "The Diggers" and Carlotta for a week's worth of metal detecting for treasure, hanging out, and having fun. Jocelyn found a ton of cool coins in this video. It's a must-see!!!

The item at 17:00 is WW1 trench art, its a little crucifix made out of a bullet. I found one recently on one of my own sites that looks almost identical.

Simple rule of dogdom. If you throw the ball once you must throw it till the dog gets tired.

MajWMartin I’m convinced that dog was a robot. There was no tiring him out.

If you get a nettle sting, rub it with a Dock Leaf which you will find growing nearby. I happened to watch this video for a second time, and can see Dock Leaves below and to the right of the nettles.

There are usually 'docs' leaves growing nearby nettles in the UK - in fact I can see there are some right in among those nettles and around about - squish up a leaf or two to get the juice and rub on the nettle sting, works to neutralise the sting a treat :)

The hooked iron piece embedded in pointed lead could possibly be a discarded garden "wall hook" for suspending plant containers? The lead is driven into a hole or crevice in the brickwork and "plugged" by hammering a tool to expand the lead and lock it in the hole.

The bullet looking find is a wall fixing for a pipe or something similar. The metal hook would go around the pipe and the other end would be hammered into the mortar of a wall.

Metal Detecting holidays; what a great idea! Especially with *PUBS* - Perfect! Sadly Pubs ARE now shutting early [except subsidised House of Commons bar] as supposed antivirus measure; just hope Gov don't let them go to the wall. One of my favorites on youtube is Aquachigger. He is more realistic than some on youtube. For instance he will hunt for most of the day and not find much. The brass tube is the broken end off a bamboo drain rod. female socket. the paths with all the signals is without doubt old coke/coal boiler clinker , crushed to make paths, used in a lot of gardens until the 1960 when oil heating came in.
