- Today, we hiked into the woods to search an old homesite where I have metal detected many times. This site dates to the mid-1700s and has yielded many old colonial coppers and U.S. large cents. I wanted to test the new Vortex metal detector to see if I had missed any signals in the past.

Glad Garrett has gotten multi freq going for the Vortex. Though we both know Minelab's had it for a long time now. Started with the Minelab Sovereign circa 1991. Back then they called it Broad Band Spectrum (BBS), these days they call it Multi-IQ+ with the Manticore. Not throwing shade at Garrett though, wish them well with the Vortex line.
I think the high squeaking iron y'all find is wrought iron from bog iron sources, it's high in phosphates and sulfide. MUCH different chemically than mined iron.
There are two types of people.
The first type could just walk away from the sinkhole & never think of it again.
The second type include Chigg and most of his viewers.
We're goin' in.
