    The Kobudo Asayama Ichiden Ryu, of which Seki Sensei is the 22nd headmaster, was one of the most popular Ryuha styles during the Edo period. In our golden age, we had over 7,000 students nationwide. Today, we only have 100 students. Our dream is to revive the golden age of Asayama Ichiden Ryu while Seki Sensei is still the headmaster. We want future generations to remember Seki Sensei as the legendary Sōké who brought back the glory of our Ryuha. Your donations will be used to cover Shogo's travel expenses to visit the main dojo from Kyoto, RUclips video shooting costs, online lesson operation costs, and training camps in Japan and overseas.

    Online seems like a way to pick up bad habits.
    When I was learning kenjutsu, it was good to have my sensei correct my form in person, as well as being able to judge when I was ready to learn something new.

      @@letsasksekisensei understand I mean no disrespect. I just haven't seen people train online and have proper form. Elbows too bent or straight feet not in quite the right position and so forth. Sometimes a teacher needs to whack a student when something is wrong.

      Hi mate 👋 We are his students and we love it! Where we live there is nothing anywhere near us to train so we have no choice. Master Seki is the best, he is meticulous in his teaching and really works hard for you to get it right! Believe us we would rather be in Japan, training at his dojo! Having said that after training with Master Seki even if we got the chance to train anywhere in a dojo under someone else we would rather stay on-line with Master Seki! Twice a week we get, in our opinion, the best Master in the world teaching the fantastic historical Asayama Ichiden Ryuha in our living room! Epic!
      Take care. Stay safe 🙏

    I've always really wanted to study TSKSR, but the only US dojo I know of is in Washington, and I am not :/ in lieu of that, I've been soaking up as much information as I can, and your channel has been a daily staple for me in recent months. I think I absolutely will be signing up for online lessons. Seki Sensei just seems like a very very good person to learn from, and displays a lot of character that is admirable in many ways. I'd love to be a student of someone like that that is also so masterful at his craft 🙏

    Hi Sensei. I have a question based on this video. In the european styles I study, we are taught to lead with our sword, i.e. extend the weapon then step such that the blow lands at the same time as the foot lands. This is done for safety reasons, as the opponent is threatened during the advance, preventing them from striking with impunity.
    It looks from this like you are stepping forward then striking? Is this correct? And if so, why is it done this way?

  • @rolbar9406
    @rolbar9406 2 месяца назад +1

    what is the weight of the sword?

    • @N192K001
      @N192K001 2 месяца назад +1

      That would depend on his height, since katana must be customized to the swordsman. (Too long & heavy will hinder movement, and possibly result in defeat. Too short & light will rob attacks of power & range.)
