Just a drive down Old Spiral Highway in Lewiston, ID. Recorded 08/18/2009 on a Sanyo VPC-FH1 with a (low-quality) wide angle lens attached (see blurring around edges + chromatic aberration). Sped up 4X regular speed.

The camera was attached to the top of my car on a Panavision CCTV suction mount (very sturdy). Sorry for the rough pan at the beginning, my tripod+fluid video head were left at home, and the pan was sped up as well so it looks extra shaky.
Ran through deshaker in VirtualDub to smooth out some of the really hard bumps along the way.

I traveled down the Spiral Highway in August. This video is great but you have to experience it first-hand.
No WONDER I got carsick every time I came down this as a kid! I was born in Lewiston & my older brothers & sister went to UI so I had plenty of chances to experience it.
This is one of the best parts of coming down from Spokane on my Motorcycle. Love it. Great job, great pace.
I was a kid when I lived in Lewiston. Correct me if I'm wrong, it's been at least 35 years since I was on that road. wasn't the pink building at 1:00 a restaurant in the 70's? Seams like I should know that place.
The song "Hot Rod Lincoln" was composed about an actual race up this hill in the 1940's. It's documented.

Wow! I got to the end and saw some favorite places I had forgotten. At 2:19 is the same two yellow directional signs that I loved to see as a kid in the back seat. They meant that we were REALLY almost home. And of course, The water tank, just after the hairpin, was ENORMOUS to a 6 year old.

@duanekemp: The pink building used to be the Chicken Roost Supper Club. Later on it became a bar (called 'something-on-the-hill'), but closed in the 1980s. I grew up in the valley and went up and down that hill ... a LOT.

Clawless here,I usually take the steep hill when I go back to my hometown but I have driven it but have not taken changitzie down the old highway
It's been awhile since I've taken the old road....its fun on a Bike! You can still Get Your Thrills on the Lewiston Hill!
What a beautiful view. That road has some peg-grinders, though. I'd love to get out there on the bike.
Other great twisty drives in the area: Central Grade, Coyote Grade, Old Greer Grade, Old Whitebird Hill, Asotin Grade, and Rattlesnake Grade. If you go to Lewiston to do these, have several barf-bags handy for passengers! :)
