I might be wrong but I believe when attacking the units of the same team V4 and Dreadnought rockets do reduced damage. the game calculates it as splash damage done to allies and that is reduced. I don't know if shogun battleship or aircraft carrier have same kinds of calculations put into them, but Dreadnought should kill a 1500hp ship with 200 damage rockets in three salvoes (7.5 rockets).

I just want to point out that the empires "Fortified Fleet" tech is not purchased in this vid. i just want to add, i have played this game a little to mutch so i should poinit it out. their key strenghts. soviet dreadnought is THE best naval seige. since it will fire moving or standing still, it has the fastest firing rate With special ability and can destroy bases the fastets. the Allied air Craft carrier, is THE best naval support unit out of the (naval bombardment classes) wich can give vision up hils With its drones (force fire) and it can emp bases or armies. just in general a good support unit. the empire shogun Battle ship is THE best naval to naval combat (naval bombardment classes) its specail abilty will 1 shoot any naval unit hit, even the mcv. (not buildings) it has a decent fire rate and acuracy and can fire while moving, but is less efficent destroying bases than the dreadnaught. it cannot support any troops or bases With any thing besides its fire rate. they indeed do get more damage, more attack speed, Helth regen and range on heroic status. so all the boats are over all stronger while heroic. out of the bunch the ones to fear the most is the empire shogun Battle ship, mainly. 1 it can get locked Down but it will be able to shoot while retreating or on flanking armies if its not put side ways. its specail abilty makes it so naval to naval attack against a shogun Battel ship can be really dangerus. the dreadnought is the second one to fear the most (keep in mind this is my opinion on the fear) since it cant really fight enemy troops, it can fire against them. and the enemy cannot see where they are going to land 100% its always going to be a hit or miss. so the enemy army gotta keep moving, making the enemy constantly having to micro their troops. since they can destroy bases really rapidly their not Nice to face off against either. you will lose Your refineries in ish 4-5 attack (not misslis but attacks all 3 shoots) so do not delay in removing them from the enemy if you can. their weakness lies in beeing easy to kill. they are rather weak. 4 vindicators can blow 1 dreadnught up. but they cant kill a shogun Battle ship in 1 bombing run the Aircraft carrier has a bugg in the game wich is beeing patched, where a terror drone can sap it (disabling movement) but for some reason it will also stop all the drones from spawning. making it usless in attack (not stop them from spawning but the drones instantly dies, even those who are already up in the air) its emp strike is also not to be messed With, a good hit form that and Your base or army is done for. and thats why i usally fear them the least, but their support strenghts are not to be messed With. do not underastimate any troops in red alert 3. If there is any unit comparisions you want me to answer just send a Message here and ill answer. in the mean time ill go play red alert 3 online :) see you on the Battle feild
I know the the emp can be deadly. I just never used the window it opened properly. The shogun is also good at shelling groups of units because of the spread of the volleys and the suppresion effect it causes on infantry.
@@rocket_sensha4337 prehaps but that's the key on the dreadnought you can force fire in a rythem to make it so the enemy cannot predict where it's going to land. @@cwedvin5748 thats more easily said than done tho, tought its truth that the spread is weird to use properly when forced to attack ground instead of directly. And against land units just retreating inland its easier because of the shorter range.
Bruh, Carriers are clearly better due to its longer range. Even if the shogun can close the distance, the carrier can just use its black hole missile to stop its approach, then retreat to a longer distance and continue sending its planes.
Keep it up with the great content! Would be great to see some other naval units comparison, for instance Dolphins vs Riptides?. Dolphins should be faster in water but they are longer to produce. I read somewhere they deal group damage but I'm not sure what that means I just find riptides more useful overall so I can't really understand the utility of Dolphins.. maybe i'm wrong!
I am impressed with how equal they really are. Now is hard to compare since they all have their advantages and disadvantages. And is a lot down to micro and unit composition in real match up. Personally I prefer the Japanese Navy in the game taken as a whole. And for the most part I prefer the battleship over the other two. But the other are strong given the right situation and should not be underestimated. And it might simply be down to my play style that I prefer the Japanese on water. (I prefer the soviets more when it comes to base building however. And I find the allies to be all around a very good faction. No faction I feel is bad in the game and all are fun to play having their unique style to them.)
10:47 I can’t understand: how does the Shogun manage to smear? Okay, some terror drone, which is smaller than a dog and moves at the speed of the Apollo, but along a completely motionless aircraft carrier? Words about shooting down because of recoil do not work: were the Japanese able to even fold skyscrapers into compact enough cores and make them reach the place themselves, but could not put recoil compensators on their most advanced ships?
Comparing prices might be interesting. Get as much of these units for 2000 credits? Also as mentioned here before, what about range? And a future test, assemble a taskforce and compare the different taskforces(build an army for 7500 credits and see what you can achieve with it)
It's hard to do army tests as unit composition changes with what enemy you are facing. For example, you will probably make an AA heavy army if your enemy has more air units.
With good Micro, the Aircraft carrier is king, as a regular unit, the Shogun does it's role as naval artillery the best, however, and the dreadnought is somewhere in the middle. However, you really need to micro the carrier to get the best out of it, and you can always shoot the drones down.
For me it's more fun playing the aircraft carrier, since it has a very long-range attack comparing to other capital ships, having a cryo-copter or any sort of scouting to the enemy from far away giving you an advantage to engage land or sea targets effectively without going too near the battlefield. I always use the blackout missiles if engaging with other capital ships or minor ships since the drone bombers can either finish them off or other support units. It's the best siege and support unit for me.
You can do this by right-clicking when you move a unit. With the click maintained you only need to move the mouse to indicate the orientation you want in your units.
I'd say the empire has the strongest navy, their frigates are durable, have a high burst damage output (higher than the akula if you micro it enough) and it can attack submarines. The shogun battleship (if it gets close) can instakill the other battleships and can beat the others if they use both their turrets with some micro. The issue with the navy is actually on the aquatic only maps. Their anti air isn't good (I wouldn't want to use giga fortresses for defense), the sea wings can't catch fast bombers and can easily get destroyed by harbingers, they take just way too long to fire and they don't get chopper vxs or jet tengus on those maps whereas the other factions can still access their aircraft. Another threat is the blackout missile, especially if it's upgraded.
@LOAN NGUYEN That one is a bit debatable, the apocalypse tank is the strongest ground unit, and they have the strongest infantry unit. They don't have good artillery however and statistically have the worst commando of the 3.
@LOAN NGUYEN in a straight up tank vs tank slugfest the Soviets are unmatched but the problem is that their tanks are slow and easy targets for enemy air and artillery bombardments. You can try and counter enemy artillery with V4s but their missiles are slow and easy to avoid.
lets be Clear about this, yes you are right about the shogun Battle ships here, but 1 thing is certain THEIR SEA WINGS ARE STRONG they are really good anti air With some micro. this is why 1 it takes a bit to Surface but thats alright, once they start shooting a harbinger gun ship will try to kill it, 2 if you move the sea wing a little bit before impact it will take 0 damage. 3 if you tell it to attack again before its all the way Down again it will instantly start to shoot again. the reason for this is rather simple. the seawing while moving is threated as a submerged unit, so the harbinger gun ship cant shoot it. but since the sea wing has a animation before going fully submerged it will be able to go back up and start firing if done at a proper time.
Does anyone remember allied cruiser ship the most powerful ship allied has in ra 1. It got an insane range and the power of each shot was as powerful as a mammoth tank(appcalypse tank ra1)
All in all: -The Carrier has the best single volley damage, but is prone to overkill and has a LONG reload time, making large numbers of them have progressively diminishing returns -The Dreadnought is the middle of the road, although it can reach great DPS at the price of health -The Shogun has the best DPS as well as the attack that reaches it's target the fastest, but neets to be turned sideways to compete (btw in the duels we saw the dreadnought use his ability, but not the Shogun or the Carrier)
@The JB You handicapped the shogun in your last two direct comparison battles. When you compared each ship to the other, why didnt you use the shogun Special ability? Same for just the test without Special ability. Why Die you only use half the shoguns fire Power, while the other Ships attacked with all they got?

@LOAN NGUYEN the emp missile is the strongest ability, since it can basically turn an equal battle into a complete stomp+ it prevents the enemy from retreating to repair.
@LOAN NGUYEN well every artillery is vulnerable to air. a couple of twinblades will decimate any of these. and i don`t really get that point about the carrier being more vulnerable while launching the missile. i don`t expect any of these ships to fight alone. if you want to raid your enemy`s refinerys please don`t use artillery.

In the Head to Head matches it seems like the Shogun Battleship's Volume of Fire is reduced by half in a Straight on Engagement the second test where you had them broadside to the targets seemed to bring both turrets into play which I think without the use of the other ships Special Abilities would have them overwhelm them fairly easily. Shogun Ship:”Yawn! You guy done yet?”
I knew my beloved carrier would suffer. Despite its damage, it's slow firing speed is its sole weakness.
Aircraft carriers have the best secondary fire option...
I just want to point out that the empires "Fortified Fleet" tech is not purchased in this vid.
Im pretty sure that the Shogun Battleship can destroy them much easier with that tech because it doesnt just provide armor boost but also attack speed.
But its pretty obvious from the start. The Empire has the greatest Naval units in the game. Not being biased or what.
The Imperial Japanese have the best Naval Fleet. Just like In real life Blyat
I think only their battleship is the best, even if dps of all battleship were the same, still the shogun would dominate because of constant fire and accuracy.
But other than the shogun, empire really doesn't have that great navy, I mean, hydrofoils mixed with anything will win any naval battle...
Yari are a great unit but you can't just micro their suicide perfectly..
At the start of ww2, they had the most competent, but they failed to retain it, abd eventually, US industrial capabilities to pump out quality ships continuously and training organization for veterans to teach cadets prevailed. @@YuriYoshiosan
i just want to add, i have played this game a little to mutch so i should poinit it out.
their key strenghts.
soviet dreadnought is THE best naval seige. since it will fire moving or standing still, it has the fastest firing rate With special ability and can destroy bases the fastets.
the Allied air Craft carrier, is THE best naval support unit out of the (naval bombardment classes) wich can give vision up hils With its drones (force fire) and it can emp bases or armies. just in general a good support unit.
the empire shogun Battle ship is THE best naval to naval combat (naval bombardment classes) its specail abilty will 1 shoot any naval unit hit, even the mcv.
4 vindicators can blow 1 dreadnught up. but they cant kill a shogun Battle ship in 1 bombing run
the Aircraft carrier has a bugg in the game wich is beeing patched, where a terror drone can sap it (disabling movement) but for some reason it will also stop all the drones from spawning. making it usless in attack (not stop them from spawning but the drones instantly dies, even those who are already up in the air) its emp strike is also not to be messed With, a good hit form that and Your base or army is done for. and thats why i usally fear them the least, but their support strenghts are not to be messed With. do not underastimate any troops in red alert 3.

Shogun Battleship is the best as the video(and 2200 price) show (as long as you control him properly)
Except that the Carrier out ranges the Shogun, it can Reach Out and Touch Them.
@@kabob0077 it's trading acc and range tbh
Bruh, Carriers are clearly better due to its longer range. Even if the shogun can close the distance, the carrier can just use its black hole missile to stop its approach, then retreat to a longer distance and continue sending its planes.
@@guntherdoesaliltrolling5757 not quite. The missiles are slow and shogun special one can help them dodge and instakill the carriers

Would be great to see some other naval units comparison, for instance Dolphins vs Riptides?.
Dolphins should be faster in water but they are longer to produce. I read somewhere they deal group damage but I'm not sure what that means
I just find riptides more useful overall so I can't really understand the utility of Dolphins.. maybe i'm wrong!
where is my soviet bias, comrade?

I was wondering when i see last test, damn its so fun
Soviet:hey comrades , you going with me;)
Dreadnought: best DPS
Aircraft Carrier: best ability
Shogun: simply the best
10:47
I can’t understand: how does the Shogun manage to smear?
I really prefer the soviet's navy from Red Alert 2 to the one from the 3rd game, soviet's navy is underwhelming in this game and I find it sad
Erectar Denara ra2 dreadnaught reminds me of the allied cruiser from the original red alert
The soviets prefer wolfpacks in RA3
Kirovs, man.
0:24 How to make?
You can do this by right-clicking when you move a unit. With the click maintained you only need to move the mouse to indicate the orientation you want in your units.
Left and right click at once for formation move
You can try and counter enemy artillery with V4s but their missiles are slow and easy to avoid.
lets be Clear about this, yes you are right about the shogun Battle ships here, but 1 thing is certain THEIR SEA WINGS ARE STRONG
they are really good anti air With some micro. this is why
1 it takes a bit to Surface but thats alright, once they start shooting a harbinger gun ship will try to kill it,
2 if you move the sea wing a little bit before impact it will take 0 damage.
All in all:
-The Carrier has the best single volley damage, but is prone to overkill and has a LONG reload time, making large numbers of them have progressively diminishing returns
-The Dreadnought is the middle of the road, although it can reach great DPS at the price of health
-The Shogun has the best DPS as well as the attack that reaches it's target the fastest, but neets to be turned sideways to compete (btw in the duels we saw the dreadnought use his ability, but not the Shogun or the Carrier)
Carrier used EMP against Dread, but everything else you said is true
@The JB
You handicapped the shogun in your last two direct comparison battles.
When you compared each ship to the other, why didnt you use the shogun Special ability?
Same for just the test without Special ability. Why Die you only use half the shoguns fire Power, while the other Ships attacked with all they got?
I'm pretty sure all his tests were made without all protocol upgrades to give all the experiments a fair limitation.
With Fortified Fleet, no shit the Shogun Battleship would win.

I strongly suggest you to test units on vanilla version 1.12 of RA3, not uprising. Since this version is where most pvp battles take place.
Allan Wong mind if I ask why is The regular more chosen over the Uprising version?
@@madwolf0966 gigafortress
@@madwolf0966 because 1.12 is the most balanced version of ra3, and it's the final version.
Some might think Uprising is the latest RA3 because it's the last and final expansion. But no, Uprising came out somewhere in the summer of 2009, while 1.12 came out in 2010. Right before EA shutdown EALA, the studio that made this game.
Also, you might notice how Uprising doesn't even have ANY multiplayer mode, I mean ANY, not just gamespy or online mode, but the LAN mode is not in Uprising too. This expansion was never meant to be balanced or even well designed, only to be fun.
Someone below said it's because giga fortress. The thing is, Uprising is also not balanced even excluding those new units.
If you test those vanilla units (basic infantry, main battle tanks etc.) in 1.12 you will get slightly different result.
I've been playing this game for more than a decade since it came out, and I can tell the test results are not useful if you want to play this game competitively. But it's not like you must do the tests for competitive pvp battles. It's just a personal opinion that, the purpose of unit testing is to serve pvp players. For Red Alert 2 unit testing, it's unfortunate that RA2's pvp is the imbalanced version, so it's no surprise that other youtubers such as tg test RA2 units in YR.

@@Wave_Boi With mass production Dreadnoughts can out number both other nations. Beside carrier is kinda useless when it comes to close combat. Carrier has great range but it's useless in most of the naval combats if it's not base invasion. Also maxed dreadnought is all you need. It also out heals the damage it takes from it's ability thus it's damage is significant. Dreadnought might be the best bombardment ship of Red Alert series. Even in Red Alert 2 it was awesome. -Soviets (Firepower)
-Empire (Fire rate)
-Allied (Precision)
When you make ships vs ships and be fair make sure none of them use abilities. And the empire's ship should use both of the main gun, no need one main gun. We need to observe the firepower.
Shogun Battleship: Tenno heika banzai
Very nice video... there is only one thing that I think I noticed.
(Well X times out of Y... their seems to be a decent percentage miss chance on the beam shots.)
Apart from that I guess that the Shogun's charge ability can only run over smaller targets and would be ineffective against these tier of ships?
