The reason for buying/using a bone conduction head phone for my wife is because she only has one ear. That is, although both inner ears are developed well, one outer ear (the shell and the channel into your head to the eardrum) did not develop. As a result, she is basically deaf on one side. This implies that she cannot hear directional sound, e.g., does not know whether a car comes from left or right or aft, and consequently hears everything in monosound. Now with these aftershokz she was able to hear, for the *first time in her life*, stereo music! That was very emotional, even more so because she then realised how much she got used to being handicapped in every day life where all the sounds she hears are, well, without any depth or direction. Medical implants do exist that work with bone conduction as well, but that requires quite an operation. So these bone conduction headphones have really made a significant difference. Just my 2 cts to highlight an additional dimension of use, literally :-D
After this review I will probably pick up a pair, I deliver mail everyday outside and it will be great to listen to music whilst still being able to hear traffic, customers and door bells
Where I work there are 3 of us that all use these on the route and they're amazing. We use the Trekz air, not too different than these and they last the whole day. Great product.
I'm a postie too, using the Titaniums currently. Considering the switch, though will likely wait for a price drop. Bone conduction headphones are definitely worth it, having a pause button is useful too for when you need to talk to someone for a signature/give direction etc. Being able to expand your knowledge base through educational podcasts whilst working has been invaluable, and these seem to be the optimal way to do so.
So I have a pair of Airs and have used them daily for well over a year. They became a necklace for me. I use them for background music and audio quality is not importance to me. It was more important to just hear some music regardless of its quality. I just got the Aeropex today. I have a job coming up where having 8 hrs of audio time would be needed and I've heard the audio is a substantial improvement over the Airs. I wanted to give a personal review using them for that. First off, the audio quality is a substantial improvement over the Airs. I can hear much more of the mid-range while vocals are still there. Bass is an improvement, too, but these are still not an audiophile's headset. They are for melomaniacs like me. These are a massive improvement sound quality anyhow compared to the Airs. I honestly believe quite a bit of the audio generated in the Airs are coming from the vents along the side of the "bone bud" facing the ear. This isn't a bad solution, but for ppl who have hearing loss due to conduction issues (eardrum, middle ear issues) they will still be missing part of the sound. It was missing for me. Granted, the Airs gave me hearing in my right ear I don't ever remember hearing so there is definitely bone conduction occuring, but when I put on the Aeropex the difference was immediate. I could hear the compensation that my brain has been doing all these years turning up the volume on my right side! It felt like the bonebuds were misplaced, but I realized that, no, it was my brain overcompensating on my right side. It took a good 3-4 songs before that wasn't apparent anymore. I also do not have anyone talking about sound leakage from these. Though I rarely have my bonephones up loud enough that others can hear it, they do not notice these at all. Airs would be "hearable" by ppl near me if I had them up to 2/3 max volume. Granted, if Aeroplex are that loud I can't really hear you, but they don't rattle like they do with Airs until the volume is almost maxed out. In conclusion, if you want background music in your life while still easily being able to interact with those around you and you have the dough, get the either of these products! The sound quality alone, however, is worth the money for the Aeropex. Either way, when you learn the real power of bonebuds and that they give you a second set of functioning ears while leaving your natural ears completely intact you'll never take them off!
IP67 means the unit can be dropped into a body of water up to a meter deep for half an hour, while IP68 guarantees protection in water up to 1.5m deep for the same period of time. Both are resistant to dust
The thumbnail you do are genius, I appreciated visually being able to quickly know what is worth looking at :D. I appreciated someone who's a realist and doesn't expect people to actually look through everything single one of their videos.
I purchased a set of trekz titanium two years ago and could not be happier. I use them mostly for music, but they are great for podcasts and phone calls. The left side is starting to be a little distorted, and I have decided to purchase a new set. I think the Aftershokz Aeropex are in my near future. I appreciate the review..
Well, here we are two years later. and I did purchase the new Aftershokz aeropex and I am having the same issue with my new set. I've now had these two years and the right side is starting to fade. It is important to understand that I use them daily, and at least 8/10 hours a day. Is the life expectancy 18 to 24 months??
Another great use case for bone conduction phones is for taking conference calls and general phone calls. With these you can hear yourself talk better than if you use regular phones, so talking feels much more natural. Yet another great use case is for running because you can hear ambient sounds. I love my trekz air.
My husband has had these for 4 months now. They are noticeably lighter than the titanium he was using. Charging is very simple with the magnetic connection. The only real issue is that he started having connection issues. However we filed a warranty claim & shipped them off so they can send us new ones. He drives a commercial vehicle all day long & he can still listen to what's around him
I can say at least for the Trekz Air, the phone call functionality is very good. Also, the distance from the playback device is very good. With the Bluetooth 5.0, I can leave my phone at my desk, and go to the kitchen in the office, close to about 80-ish feet away. It allows the playback and also pause/play functionality still if someone decides to have a conversation with you while you're jamming out.
My titanium make phone calls just fine. I'm not claiming I've got compliments on it, or that you can talk on the phone while you're riding 20 mph, but stopped or maybe ~5 mph, people understand new just fine.
I used Trackz Air for more then a year and now i bought Aeropex just yesterday! I am super happy! They made good improvements! Two charging cables - bravo Aftershock! Sound quality raised significantly! The sound is more deep now. I use to wear my Air for the whole day! I just can’t live without them now;)))) Best purchase ever
I wear mine 12 hours a day. I love them! Podcasts while getting ready for work in the morning. More while in the drop off line at school. Off and on throughout the day in my office. I finish off the day cooking dinner and and cleaning up afterwards. I had to find more podcast to listen too!
I spend a lot of time at work on the phone and on video meetings. I was suddenly having an allergic reaction inside my ear canal on both ears from my old ear buds, even after regular cleaning of the latex ear pieces. Not any more thanks to Aftershokz Aeropex. I'm on my second day with these and no more sore ears and the sound is actually better than I expected. And the microphone has good and clear audio for those I'm speaking with. So glad I spent the money on these.
I am watching this video with my Titanium and I just paused your video with the shoulder push. The discovery of this maneuver opens up a lot of opportunities for me.
Wearing my new Trekz Titanium headphones while watching this video and I tried the shoulder-button-press thing you discussed at 10:30... what a useful trick!
that shoulder button-pressing story is amazing. I bet they didn't think of that and it also shows that the host is not actually joking when he says he uses them as a daily driver.
Great review! Honest and to the point, answering all the questions I had as well the ones I didn't beforehand but should have had, without being too detailed or geeky! Well done! 👍
Your second EQ setting (the one for plugged ears) makes the music come in clearer and sounds like in ear headphones. Also the battery lasts 12 if you listen at under 80% volume
I recently started as a delivery rider (e-bike, I live in the Netherlands so cycling is very safe already), and found out that even one earbud in is still dangerous, as it pretty much leaves you deaf on one side. I got these yesterday and got to use them in the evening, I could not be happier! I mostly listen to music, and they are just fine for that. I want the music to be in the background, because I need to focus on riding safely, I don't want to focus on the details of the music. These are just great for that! I can highly recommend these for anyone who wants to listen to music while out and about. The music still sounds good, just when you focus on it, you realize you're missing a lot of detail. But, it's background music, so it's actually a good thing.
just ordered them. friend called me and the audio was pretty good. Currently using the jabra 65T elite, but maybe these will be more practical for podcasts around the home.
Great review! I have been debating for ages on getting the updated aeropex as I use my current ones all the time - will give it a go! Thank you for taking the time to make the comparisons :)
Great review. I ended up purchasing the aeropex and found a purpose for the case. If you live with cats the case is necessary to prevent them from stealing your headset and hiding it under the couch. I also use it to hold the charging cord (also away from the cats) and for traveling. Anyway, the case is great and I too like the magnetic closure.
These are perfect for my ASMR videos at night. I always fall asleep in them and they can withstand all my rolling around all night---unlike my Beats by Dre---I pretty much mangled and destroyed them falling asleep all the time in them.
So the bar around the back isn't uncomfortable? I was thinking of these for guided fall asleep meditation type stuff so I'd probably use them more while falling asleep/sleeping than when I'm up and awake.
G C the headset is very good, but the bar in the back is a real problem, you can not comfortably sleep or even be sitting in a coach relaxing, as it is hard and in the way, or it will push the headset away from the bones where it is supposed to conduct.
@@patrickvandenberghe9529 I found that they didn't perform any differently than my ear buds either. Good for those that need to keep their ears open but I'm just not the target audience.
G C I agree with you, in the same time that’s the point for me, I wonder if my ears have a normal shape :-)) . I can not keep anything in my ears without feeling disturbed from it, so for me the solution is the Aftershokz, the inconveniences I take them with it. Honestly if you put some earplugs in your ears the sound experience isn’t too bad.
Where I work, we are not allowed to use headphones or earbuds, or anything that covers the ear canal. Several people walk around with bluetooth speakers, but I don't want to mess with that. I already had a pair of Aftershokz Trekx Titaniums, but never wore them because they squeezed the sides of my head and became unbearable after just a few minutes. I just bought the Aeropex and received them yesterday. I've worn them for a couple of hours, and they are very comfortable (especially compared to the Trex Titaniums). Today will be the trial by fire, but I already know that these things are going to crush it at work.
I have Trekz Titanium and Air. I use them around the house, the office, cycling, and snowboarding. AfterShokz is my preferred headphone brand now. Love being able to hear around me while listening to podcasts and RUclips videos. Their warranty is awesome, too. Any issue, just submit a claim, ship it back and they'll send a brand new one.
Lost my airs on a plane, but they were excellent. Also used to use them with the earplugs when go carting. they are pretty low profile, but very snug on your head, so can squeeze into the helmet and give you a great soundtrack as you drive.
I would want to use them for snowboarding, how do they feel with a helmet on if you where one? Have you had any problems while wearing them snowboarding?
@@bbolanda18 They felt great to me! The Airs probably apply less pressure as they are smaller than the Treks. My helmet has padding around the ears (helmet is in my profile pic, but not easy to see). The play/pause button can be pushed through my ear padding without taking off my gloves. It doesn't feel squished to my head, but I'm used to it on my skull. I let my step-dad wear it one run and he did not like it (he'd never worn them before that, too). He went straight back to his AirPods. So, I guess wearing them regularly and getting used to them prior to putting on a helmet is ideal. For me, AirPods put too much pressure in my ears with a helmet on. Without any ability to push a pause/play button during a run, plus could fall out (and are white as the snow!), they don't seem like the best for snowboarding to me.
Good point on being able to shoulder the button. I'm thinking of getting it to use when I'm indoor rock climbing and I'd rather not be getting chalk caught in the button or over my face from pressing the button with my fingers
Seriously ... I watched your video on the TrexAirs and a few weeks later QVC had them on for a good price. I bought them and luv them. I like to listen to audiobooks and they’re great. I enjoy your videos a lot. You’re very thorough and add some humor to things which I enjoy about your videos. Keep em coming .... Joe
Super* Review I’m currently reading “Thirteen “ by Steve Cavanaugh. Great myster so far. “The Inn” by James Patterson was good. “Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate is worth reading. That’s my past 3 All we’re worth the time. Anything you recommend? If you’re into reading like me there’s a website called Goodreads. I belong to it and always looking for “reading buddies”. It would be fun having you as a reading friend. Check it out and see what you think. You’re the best! .....Joe
I wear the TREKZ Titanium nearly 24 hours a day and they last around 2-3 days on and off on average. They're comfortable and you'll barely notice they're there, but you'll have some problems if you use glasses.
Hmm I'm listening this with my new aftershokz openmove, they're great because of USBC. You haven't reviewed openmove or opencomm, yet... I shouldn't force you to check out every headphones from aftershokz but I really enjoying my pair of headphones. I'm both surprised and happy you're answering these comments at all.
For people who is wondering if this can be used for swimming or not. You can't, its not because of the button like the video mentioned. That's because Bluetooth can't go through water. While the Xtrainerz have built in mp3 player in it. Cheers!
You raise chickens. Damn! I’m impressed. As a blind person who has raised sheep in the past, and who takes care of horses, I have thought about raising chickens in my backyard. I love working with livestock, and I’ve heard that raising chickens is very, very easy. I can’t wait till I have money to buy chickens. I’ll let you know when I do.
Great revue. I use em all the time for all the reasons you said. Battery life, comfort. Great for low level background music whilst dealing with life, reliable Bluetooth connection. When I can sit down, relax and properly listen to music, they do ok. But nothing beats proper big speakers eh? A bit of distance between cone and ear improves listening pleasure.
Hi. Does it hurt any part of your sides after using it for quite some time?If you have a nice-sounding music player like PowerAMP for android, does the sound quality improve a lot? Thanks again. Always enjoy watching your reviews--soft background music, no bad words and you test the units first. God Bless.
Nope, no discomfort on the sides of my head -- I literally will forget I'm wearing it for hours. That said, no, I don't think Poweramp is going to improve the sound quality -- the limitation is at the transducers.
As an aeropex owner, I love them, I use them at work for background noise since I wear ear plugs (way better sound) and on average get around 9-11 hours of charge time, usually only have them at half volume or less since I still have to hear my surroundings, but battery is pretty good compared to my other Bluetooth devices I’ve used
@@victoriawaitz7366 even at loudest volume there’s only a very faint hum to others. It’s bone conduction not air conduction so they can’t really hear anything if it’s on their bone.
They are probably just fine for swimming, but Bluetooth doesn't travel more than 3 inches through water. They will skip/disconnect everytime they are submerged.
Picked up a pair of Trekz Air after watching your review, spot on conclusions, couldn’t agree more. I’m an audiosnob too, but for listening to podcasts while doing chores or jamming out to music when I’m riding my bike, they are superb. And now I’ve used them, I totally get your button/shoulder dab move!
@@markproudfoot5427 Wind noise above 20kph starts to intrude. IMO at "road bike" or "fast commuter" speeds (25-50kph) they are not that practical. For trail riding, mooching around town, or cruising down the beach they are superb. I also use them in the car for podcasts. My previous set-up was Koss KSC75Xs with a Fiio BTR3 Bluetooth dac/amp velcroed to my helmet. That sounded fantastic, and blocked wind at higher speeds, but the wires were a hassle.
@@markproudfoot5427 Haven't tried this yet, but in winter when you're wearing a buff under you helmet (and over your ears), I reckon they'd work well at higher speeds.
Helpful review. I was thinking about getting these for work. I work retail and have to talk to people a lot, but also like to listen to mine own music/podcasts to help pass time easier. Hearing the same songs the store plays over and over can drive one crazy. I currently use one wireless earbud, but that can make it hard to hear people sometimes, hurts my ear after a bit, and the battery life is not good.
I hadn't tried before, but just did -- you can definitely put them on with one hand. I held them by the back of the band, and from there you can flex the band outward to spread the arms and put over the back of your head. Not too tricky, surprisingly.
I just unboxed mine and it's charging now. Like you, I'll mostly listen to podcasts with a little music, while I ride my recumbent exercise bike. Should work just fine for me. Thank you for the nice and honest review.
@Richard MacLean , prices of the trekz air are half of those of the aeropex. Still I'm hesitating about buying one of both because I'm expecting some new aftertrekz bonephones coming up soon.. You think it's worth the wait or should I bite the bullet just now? :)
I had a bad day at work and it instantly made me feel better to see this in my feed when I got home! To cheer myself up more I’ve bought one of your shirts! (The blue one with the swanky t2 illustration). I’ve seen you wear some super review hats in some videos and was wondering if we will ever be able to buy them as I would love to rock one! Great video as always! Love from Scotland!
I'm not sure how to make the hats available, the ones I have I've had made custom on Etsy. If you know an embroiderer you'd want to use, I could share the image file for the logo to use.
Super* Review That would be great! I’ve never really wanted to wear youtuber merch before but your designs are really nice and your videos are amazing!
I would like to know how the sound quality of the mic is during calls. I'm looking into this as an option for use while using a respirator if it helps with that.
Good day, I hope you get a hand on TSMR-3/TSMR-3 Pro of Tansio Mirai, you're the only dude that makes video reviews that are complete (unbox, fit, how it will look on your ear and stuff, your descriptions of SQ is easy to understand) i'm planning to get one but there's no demo unit available near me so i'm going to risk a blind buy but i want to know a lot before clicking the purchase button
This headset is so good it's life changing. With sound quality, remember you can pop a pair of ear plugs in and blow your mind with beautiful sound. I would have liked to see how you fit them in their case though!
The main difference with the Xtrainerz is that those doesn’t have Bluetooth but instead built in memory to use as MP3 player, the reason Bluetooth doesn’t work well in water, so they tell that Aeropex are not intended for swimming, because they prefer you to buy the other product creating segmentation and possibly increasing sales, but they didn’t apparently handycap the “waterproofness” of the Aeropex to encourage you to get an Xtrainerz, so in reality as long as you have close enough the source the Aeropex also would do the trick, but I didn’t try it yet, but I’ll do
@@jihedyacoubi5381 Actually yes, in fact it can work but Bluetooth range is greatly diminished, to the point that actually with my phone (also water resistant but anyone could use a waterproof case if they use the phone as their Bluetooth source) if I remember correctly because was quite some months ago, didn’t work from hip height and also not with the phone just above the water and you slightly under as the superficial tension of the water was probably hampering heavily the signal, so in order to the Aeropex work well for swimming you need the source clearly near your head probably as a some sort of collar, maybe with a Bluetooth MP3 player have a stronger signal than an iPhone SE 2020 it can work further away, and maybe an armlet case or something in those lines, if you can do that it could be used underwater, well you can also have your hand with the phone near the head all the time but that isn’t useful for anything else than a test. That been said, that’s UNDER water, if it’s more for showers or things that not involve complete submersion it works fine, you don’t have to have it even on yourself, can be meters away. So unless you can get a creative solution to the very, very very restrictive range underwater you better get the Xtrainerz, but I must say I didn’t test just swimming per se just those tests, as I didn’t have a way to keep the phone on my while swimming I didn’t even bother to try but when swimming depending on the style you can have a good chunk of the device outside the water so it may work from meters away but I didn’t test that
On the Trekx Air, three taps on the left button will back up 15 seconds on most podcasts, audiobooks, and music apps. Skipping forward or back on a track is a nice bonus on the Aeropecs! Thanks!
Thanks for the review. I used the Titanium for 2 years and had them replaced twice on warranty. Once because it kept switching off. The second time because the band broke (very nice of the customer service to replace it for me). Fantastic headphones but every so slightly uncomfortable. I listen to podcasts mainly and I found them amazing for this purpose. All I really need is slightly better comfort. Based on what you've said the Air the way to go. The Aeropex, at current prices, seems still a bit too much for me to invest.
As a professional Chicken Paraphernalia Transporter and cyclist I might save myself some bucks and go for the Trekz Air. That triple-click back button is appealing though, I listen to hours of podcasts myself.
Antoine P : the thing that “bother” me is the proprietery charger . It mean I have to take extra charger on top of the 2 chargers thay I have to take daily ( 1micro usb for android and 1 lightning for iphone/ ipad)
I'm only going to use these for audiobooks, so I'm glad you mentioned that. I only ever listen to music in the car or at home with good over the ear headphones.
They have an IP67 rating. The second number determined water- resistance and a 7 means that they can be submerged in water up to 1m deep and they have to last there for 30 minutes without damage to the device. Could you take them swimming? Maybe. Just keep in mind that 1m is not very deep.
Dude amazing vid! Thank you so much appreciate you man! Don’t have a pair yet but after watching this just ordered mine. Was between these or airpods but am more looking for spoken word so you sold it to me for that! Thanks again buddy 👌😁
I know the incoming sound is good on the Aeropex but can you verify an Amazon review saying the microphone on the Aeropex is poorer than the Trekz Air? I.E. When you call other people other people on your Aeropex, do they say you sound worse on their end compared to when you call them on your Trekz Air? I recently lost my Trekz Air and was wondering what to replace it with.
I think aftershockz had a bad batch of aeropex units. I had to return my first set due to microphone quality, but the second set is comparable to my titanium. Hope this helps.
I use the Trekz titanium and I have had them for 2 years now, only problem I have ever had with them was the shortened battery life so I just ordered the new Aeropex. from the looks of it I won't be dissapointed.
Does it actually have magnetic *_induction_* charging? Their website says that it has a "magnetic induction cable" which sounds confusing and maybe misleading, because when you say "induction" you'd think of wireless induction charging (like Qi charging in our phones). But, looking at the charging port from pictures and your video, it looks like it just has contact pins for charging, secured with magnets. By the way, I had one of their first-gen bone-conduction headphones from a few years ago. I already forgot the model, but I remember it was a wired headphone (no BT) and the bone-conducting pad was orange in color. The sound quality wasn't great and for the first few times of using it, it felt weird being able to hear music in your head while still hearing the environment around you, clearly. Also, when you max out the volume, it would tickle my head with the vibration from the pads and the sound would leak out. I wonder how better the newer models have gotten.
Not sure on the technical definition of "induction charging" or how I would verify it. These might be able to still tickle your head at max volume, but I don't listen that loud. Generally, I find the bassier models (Titanium and, to a lesser degree, Air) more tickly.
Amazing review. I am buying one right away. I watched lots of other reviews on this product but nothing even came close to this review. I listen to Music/News about 3 hours every day using bluetooth earphones and I am already experiencing hearing loss and my doctor advised to give Bone conduction a try. Thank you for such a clean and to the point review.
Will depend on how loud the external sound is. I can hear these over traffic, but I usually have to turn them up quite a bit. IMO they're better in quiet areas.
I just recently sent back my tracks air by aftershocks headphones and I received back a box that says air by aftershocks headphones. My question is is there a difference and did I get ripped off? Also to let it be known I am blind I am fully blind and I use these while I am walking around town so I can still use my walking apps and hear traffic.
I would say that they don't claim that you can swim with them because there's no reason to Bluetooth connection does not work underwater. The other pair is MP3 and not Bluetooth, and made for underwater
Better sound quality requires earplugs, IP67 is waterproof to 1 meter (minimum, international standard) but they sound funny underwater, they're not for swimming. About to buy my third set after TSA and baggage handlers destroyed the first two. I've gotten 2-3 years per set of headphones so I'll definitely buy a hard travel case this time.
Yes, they work well with glasses. I wear them with sunglasses often, and my wife has her own pair she wears with prescription lenses almost as much as I wear mine.
Yes you can! depending on your glasses, maybe you will feel a little discomfort the first times, but i use them every day and got used to it, it´s no a big deal. i own the Titanuim ones for almost a year now, and they are super comfy but im looking for the next level!
I saw bonephones for the first time ever about 2 weeks ago (sony wf-1000xm3 user) bonephones looked cool as F. Didn't know if it would be any good. This morning I saw someone using bonephones, was allowed a listen.... this evening this pair will arrive. Bought them on the spot. AND now I found out they work great for podcasts???!!! Mind blown!!! I listen podcast for about 9 hours a day!
I have a question I hope you can answer. I sent my first set of Aeropex back because it stopped charging. Well, I never charged it honestly. I hooked it up to the cable and the headset didn't charge. So, the company sent me a second pair and now I am having the same problem. I made sure that the charging base is the correct voltage but they still will not charge. The light doesn't even come on to say they are plugged in. The company that I purchased these from wrote me and said upon arrival they were able to charge the ones I returned back to 100%. For the life of me I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! HALP!
My Aeropex came with two cables -- did you try both? Could be the cable. Otherwise, I'm not sure. I've charged my Aeropex off of (1) my MacBook USB ports, and even (2) my monitor's USB port.
@@SuperReview Yes, I have tried both cables, charging in my laptop, etc. Its so weird this is the second pair to do the exact same thing. Currently, they have been on a charger for about 12 hours now. I'm so sad by this!
What's the experience wearing these in the wind? These look interesting for cycling. Would you get the same sound experience at 0 mph vs 20 mph or is there a baffling(?) wind noise?
Wind noise will cause me to increase the volume on these. I don't suspect the Trekz are creating any additional wind noise, just the sound of wind going by ears.
If you work in a factory and wearing otoplastics/earplugs these are a very good way to listen to music, though the music might sound a little bit hollow. If there was a way to make them a little bit tighter to the bones the music will sound better. I proved this by pressing both parts to my skull.
Most important thing to understand is to charge with only a 1 amp or less charger. Yes they come with 2 charging cable but they do not come with the charger. So the one you use must not be s fast charger. Use a 1 amp or less charger. Fast charging will charging will kill them!
Good Tip DEVIN. I wish these companies would provide a Plug for the USB, Penny pinchers. You may be on to something, I killed two small battery products by using a Walmart/China made strip + USB's. Never again will I plug anything sensitive into a powerful Strip with USB's.
More info that's missing from this video... IP67 means 5 feet (1.5m) of water submersion. Manufacturer website says not intended for swimming. Also the site says "PremiumPitch 2.0+ Powerful bass and higher volume" (for what that info is worth)

This comment made me hit the addtocart button 🥴🤣
I work in construction and having my ears open has been no lie life-saving.
I bet!
Shouldn’t you be wearing ear defenders to protect your hearing?
@@Liofa73 Depends on the job and which trade he's in. Some sites aren't loud. Most sites I work on are quiet.
IP67 means the unit can be dropped into a body of water up to a meter deep for half an hour, while IP68 guarantees protection in water up to 1.5m deep for the same period of time. Both are resistant to dust
nice additional info
The thumbnail you do are genius, I appreciated visually being able to quickly know what is worth looking at :D. I appreciated someone who's a realist and doesn't expect people to actually look through everything single one of their videos.
I purchased a set of trekz titanium two years ago and could not be happier. I use them mostly for music, but they are great for podcasts and phone calls. The left side is starting to be a little distorted, and I have decided to purchase a new set. I think the Aftershokz Aeropex are in my near future. I appreciate the review..
How loud can these play music?
Well, here we are two years later. and I did purchase the new Aftershokz aeropex and I am having the same issue with my new set. I've now had these two years and the right side is starting to fade. It is important to understand that I use them daily, and at least 8/10 hours a day. Is the life expectancy 18 to 24 months??
Another great use case for bone conduction phones is for taking conference calls and general phone calls. With these you can hear yourself talk better than if you use regular phones, so talking feels much more natural. Yet another great use case is for running because you can hear ambient sounds. I love my trekz air.
Totally agreed.
How is the mic quality? Do people here you well when you are in a relatively loud place?
My husband has had these for 4 months now. They are noticeably lighter than the titanium he was using. Charging is very simple with the magnetic connection. The only real issue is that he started having connection issues. However we filed a warranty claim & shipped them off so they can send us new ones. He drives a commercial vehicle all day long & he can still listen to what's around him
Because these headphones stay outside of the ears does that mean that when he wears these other people can hear what he's listening to?
@@victoriawaitz7366 no, unless someone is right at his ear or he is blaring something.
"I assume it probably picks up phone calls.... but I don't make phone calls." Well, there's a relatable statement.
You call this a super review? How hard would it be to make a phone call, even if you don't personally use phones, to include that info in the review?
As someone who rarely calls/gets called, my Trex Titanium bone phones do allow you to pick up calls
What are you a 16 year old girl? You don’t make or receive calls. Wtf
I just can’t live without them now;))))
Best purchase ever
is it quite good for calls? and are you using an iphone?
Call quality???
is it sweat proof?
@@mohdaslam-zg7dy 100% i suppose they are even shower proof but i made a gap in button covering rubber and i don't want to take a risk.
I wear mine 12 hours a day. I love them! Podcasts while getting ready for work in the morning. More while in the drop off line at school. Off and on throughout the day in my office. I finish off the day cooking dinner and and cleaning up afterwards. I had to find more podcast to listen too!
Oh yeah, the hours of podcasts I go through with these is nuts.
do you really get 12 hours of use? im working 12 hour shifts and online it was saying they only get 8. but i really like the idea of these
I lost mine
How loud can these play music??
I use the Aftershokz Trekz Air everyday at work with earplugs. Earplugs are a must for louder, clearer sound.
Beware to keep it working. The moment its out of warranty itll magically break. Been there.
Kars Van der heijden mines been fine for nearly 4 years now.
that shoulder button-pressing story is amazing. I bet they didn't think of that and it also shows that the host is not actually joking when he says he uses them as a daily driver.
I feel him. I have to open doors with my knee sometimes. All the handles on my doors were switched from round knobs to sideways levers.
Great review! Honest and to the point, answering all the questions I had as well the ones I didn't beforehand but should have had, without being too detailed or geeky! Well done! 👍
Good overview
Your second EQ setting (the one for plugged ears) makes the music come in clearer and sounds like in ear headphones. Also the battery lasts 12 if you listen at under 80% volume
After shokz air are my daily drivers I forget they’re on. I pretty much only listen pod casts so their perfect!
How are they for walk & listening pod cast while walking?
Because these headphones stay outside of the ears does that mean that when you wear these other people can hear what you're listening to?
just ordered them. friend called me and the audio was pretty good. Currently using the jabra 65T elite, but maybe these will be more practical for podcasts around the home.
I tried it on yesterday. It’s a much much improved version with very minimal ear tickle even when the volume is loud.
Yeah, I think that's a side effect of lower bass. I'm happy with it.
I want that ear tickle. I need that for the asmr experience. What bone conduction device will give me that kind of sensation?
This guy definitely uses the trekz air, I always hit that the button with shoulder, great vid.
Oh man.. ASMR in my bones??
Where I work, we are not allowed to use headphones or earbuds, or anything that covers the ear canal. Several people walk around with bluetooth speakers, but I don't want to mess with that. I already had a pair of Aftershokz Trekx Titaniums, but never wore them because they squeezed the sides of my head and became unbearable after just a few minutes.
I just bought the Aeropex and received them yesterday. I've worn them for a couple of hours, and they are very comfortable (especially compared to the Trex Titaniums). Today will be the trial by fire, but I already know that these things are going to crush it at work.
This has got to be the coolest review I have ever watched! Dude is good....even enjoyable!!!
These are the BEST. I have had Bose, Sony, Beats and the $20 pair. Used for driving, running, biking & every thing else.
Way better than "Hey Siri/Google."
I wear the TREKZ Titanium nearly 24 hours a day and they last around 2-3 days on and off on average. They're comfortable and you'll barely notice they're there, but you'll have some problems if you use glasses.
that's interesting, what is the reason?
Hmm I'm listening this with my new aftershokz openmove, they're great because of USBC. You haven't reviewed openmove or opencomm, yet... I shouldn't force you to check out every headphones from aftershokz but I really enjoying my pair of headphones. I'm both surprised and happy you're answering these comments at all.
I probably should review them, but I'm pretty happy with the Aeropex so not seeing a need for myself.
Yeah, chickens are pretty low-maintenance. We clean out the coop once a week and feed them about as often.
Super* Review thank you so much.
I constantly take every opportunity to listen to podcasts and audiobooks 🥺😩 this thing was made for me! Thanks for pointing that out
Great revue.
This video made me decide on the air's for the extra bass since i'm mainly interested in music in the backround. Thanks a lot!

As an aeropex owner, I love them, I use them at work for background noise since I wear ear plugs (way better sound) and on average get around 9-11 hours of charge time, usually only have them at half volume or less since I still have to hear my surroundings, but battery is pretty good compared to my other Bluetooth devices I’ve used
Because these headphones stay outside of the ears does that mean that when you wear these other people can hear what you're listening to?
@@victoriawaitz7366 even at loudest volume there’s only a very faint hum to others. It’s bone conduction not air conduction so they can’t really hear anything if it’s on their bone.
They are probably just fine for swimming, but Bluetooth doesn't travel more than 3 inches through water. They will skip/disconnect everytime they are submerged.
The more expensive version has build in 4GB mp3 player
@@rafakruczek5622 that's the cheaper version but you can't use it as a talking headset. There's no mic.
When MKBHD adopts the shoulder dab in a video, then we'll know we made it a thing 👌
Is the sound quality ok when riding a bike? Does the wind noise drown them out ?
Yeah this should be a much better solution than one earbud 👍
Dude! Your reviews are awesome...someone needs to send your all the iem's that BadGuy is reviewing! Cheers.
I'm considering buying the Aeropex.
Is it possible to put them on with one hand?
Due to my disability, I cannot use my left hand.
I hadn't tried before, but just did -- you can definitely put them on with one hand. I held them by the back of the band, and from there you can flex the band outward to spread the arms and put over the back of your head. Not too tricky, surprisingly.

This headset is so good it's life changing. With sound quality, remember you can pop a pair of ear plugs in and blow your mind with beautiful sound. I would have liked to see how you fit them in their case though!
I personally don't use the case.
The main difference with the Xtrainerz is that those doesn’t have Bluetooth but instead built in memory to use as MP3 player, the reason Bluetooth doesn’t work well in water, so they tell that Aeropex are not intended for swimming, because they prefer you to buy the other product creating segmentation and possibly increasing sales, but they didn’t apparently handycap the “waterproofness” of the Aeropex to encourage you to get an Xtrainerz, so in reality as long as you have close enough the source the Aeropex also would do the trick, but I didn’t try it yet, but I’ll do
Can u share ur results here ?
Thanks!
They must've updated the Air, I still use mine regularly, they don't skip back 😔
Thanks for the review.
Both Air and Aeropex are big improvements in comfort over the Titanium, IMO.

They have an IP67 rating. The second number determined water- resistance and a 7 means that they can be submerged in water up to 1m deep and they have to last there for 30 minutes without damage to the device.
Could you take them swimming? Maybe. Just keep in mind that 1m is not very deep.

That's interesting that doctors recommend this technology. Hope you dig it 👍
Going from Titanium to Aeropex is an insane difference! Love my Aeropex
What're the big differences for you?
You got very good camera. Which camera you are using?
Panasonic G85.
Ordered mine yesterday! I can’t wait!
Lemme know what you think 🤙
If I go to the gym are the headphones loud enough so I can cut off the music already playing in the background?
Will depend on how loud the external sound is. I can hear these over traffic, but I usually have to turn them up quite a bit. IMO they're better in quiet areas.
You could try using them with motorcycle/concert earplugs
I just recently sent back my tracks air by aftershocks headphones and I received back a box that says air by aftershocks headphones. My question is is there a difference and did I get ripped off? Also to let it be known I am blind I am fully blind and I use these while I am walking around town so I can still use my walking apps and hear traffic.
Sorry, I don't know. I would guess that, more likely, they just changed their packaging.
Just bought a pair of new aeropex on ebay for £99 instead of £149!! I am excited.
Woo, nice.
Thanks for your honest review. Very helpful 😊
I would say that they don't claim that you can swim with them because there's no reason to Bluetooth connection does not work underwater.
The other pair is MP3 and not Bluetooth, and made for underwater
Could be nice for surfing.
Interesting video. Never seen these before. Is the watch yunwere wearing in this video a pebble time 2?
As a mountain biker, I think you'd get a lot of utility out of bone conduction like this. I use mine all the time.
What about if you have glasses or during the winter when you wear a hat. How dose it fit/feel then?
I don't have any issues with these and sunglasses, also wear them with a baseball cap sometimes and they fit great.
TSA got you twice? Wow.
Will be ordering and am thinking wow.. a way to listen to audio personally at almost all times.
That's exactly it!
Nice video, man!Love the way you make your thoughts so organized and thorough!BTW,do you know if I can wear them with glasses on?
For a podcast listener, absolute game changer.
I am a climber and mountain biker. I love these because I can climb and ride with the ability to have my ears not obstructed. Game changer.
It really makes a big difference.
If you work in a factory and wearing otoplastics/earplugs these are a very good way to listen to music, though the music might sound a little bit hollow. If there was a way to make them a little bit tighter to the bones the music will sound better. I proved this by pressing both parts to my skull.
Have you tried the EQ change? They have a mode where they change the sound a bit to work better with ear plugs.
I don't really into the products that you reviewed but I end up watching so many vids of yours.
What would you like to see?
@@SuperReview I usually come to RUclips to watch and learn about workout routines, health care tips , skin care product reviews. However, I find your voice very soothiging , handsome face to look at. And you're quite funny 😊
Oof, yeah my skin care videos would be pretty bad.
Listening to this on my brand new Aeropex because I jumped into the pool with my Trekz Air. That’s how light these things are. You definitely forget that you have them on.
LOL
The x trainer was an mp3 player only, but the aeropex were bluetooth
I see a lot of talk about hours of podcasting... What are your favorite podcast to listen to?
