    The best tip I could get from a customer is recommending me to their friends and family

  • @yngndrw.
    @yngndrw. Год назад +23

    Not really a surprise that an MICC manufacturer wants MICC cable to be used.
    Tipping is an absolute no. The general practice of tipping (Or more, the expectation of tipping) needs to go - People should be paid a fair wage from their employer without needing to top it up. If there's an expectation of tips, it becomes a hidden charge to the customer.

    Electrical van driver here. Had it for nearly 2 yrs now. Best thing I have ever bought for my business. Absolutely would never go back to Diesel by choice. 44000 miles on it and its absolutely incredible.

    • @benespection
      @benespection 9 месяцев назад +1

      What do you drive? How's the range for you when the van is full? I love driving electric but have only heard grumbles from tradies driving electric vans. Maybe their expectations are unrealistic.

    • @iandonnelly542
      @iandonnelly542 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@benespection honestly, people are generally just either afraid of what they don't know about, or reluctant to change. My view is that I stopped using a brace and bit a while back, so imagine core drilling a wall with a twist handle. Times are changing, and I have said for a long time now, I don't think electric will be the be all and end all. I think we will see a blend of electric (with much better batteries once the technology has caught on) and hydrogen. As for mine, weight doesn't make as much of a difference as you would think. Mine is more often near fully loaded than empty. Performance on acceleration is slightly noticeable, but unless you are doing a lot of start stop stuff, range isn't hugely affected. Put ladders on the top and that seems to make a notable difference. Round town, I can get near the 200miles claimed mileage if I'm going easy. I rarely do, I like flitting about, so reality is closer to 180. Stick it on a motorway and it's eating the range, probably realistically 130miles (unless you are cold generally, then it can chop that down a chunk). I do a lot of travelling, and have a lot of clients who allow me to charge on their sites FOC, so isn't too bad for me.

      @@iandonnelly542 Perfect! Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your detail. I expected adding ladders and tubes for conduit would add drag, but if you're actually getting range as good as advertised with a van full of tools and stock then that's excellent. Cheers!

    • @iandonnelly542
      @iandonnelly542 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@benespection drag is for sure the biggest discernible difference. 60mph can give you significant increases in range compared to 70mph on motorways for example.

    I was called to a doctor’s house to replace a ceiling rose he’d removed and after I finished,10 minutes,he offered me a tenner. I told him we didn’t accept gratuities but he stuffed it in my shirt pocket.When the company invoiced him for my visit he complained that he had paid me on site!

    When I was working with consumers in their homes i never asked for a tip, I would not have the nerve to do so. I feel i did better from tips without asking. In general i would prefer we did not do tips. I got more of a buzz when i got back to the office and the boss tells you a customer called in to say what a great job you did today.

    In Australia: All exits and emergency lights must be inspected and tested every 6 months to ensure they run for 90 minutes on battery by simulating a loss of power. The results of the duration test, any defects/non-conformances and maintenance history shall be recorded in a paper or digital log book

    I want to be all for positive EL reg changes but high risk areas and the interesting idea of adpative EL light aside (imagine the cost of replacement of one those outside of warranty, bet they would have to be net connected too for AI updates?!).
    I can't help but feel if there really was a lighting failure most people would probably have their phone torches on quicker than a sea of phones at a modern day music concert! So kind of whats the point in more regulation 🙈

    Well pushing smart meters is going to have to happen. Just reminding people that if your on a Radio Teleswitch based meter or a seperate teleswitch for E7/E10 switching. These meters will go obsolete in 2024 when the BBC pull the transmitters that send the switching signal. They will no longer switch.

    I don't think tipping is a good idea, especially now people are low in money and everything is very expensive. If the electrician is badly paid by the company they shouldn't work for this company, like there is more work in the market than the electrician can do. The tipping culture in the US start to break apart anyway because it abused by all the way possible ...

      I have never expected a tip in my life. I charge what I charge and that’s that. If your company pays so low that you need tips, you’re in the wrong company. If you’re a Tradie and expect a tip, you’re a cunt!
