I had a very close call the other day. A grain semi crossed feet in front of a full-speed CP train. Sadly my camera was faced the other way!

Ah! It’s good to see how railfans can document so much stupidity! I bet if it wasn’t for railfans, it would take much longer for crossings to become as safe as they are today! As railroad workers probably watch videos like these!

Yeah. Most of this the engineer and conductor will see and report to a maintainer or dispatcher. But they can't be there for everything such as 0:27 and 6:25 which is where we come in!

Wow that is a ton of idiots! I hate gate runners, I saw one about a month ago here in Bakersfield CA at the L St crossing when a southbound pickup truck slowed down as he approached the gates which were down for an eastbound BNSF Q train only to once again hit the gas and rammed right through the gates, nearly snapping the gate in two and almost got hit by the train! Thankfully he wasn't hit.

Interesting story, wish railroad crossing cameras were more common so they could've got the plate number and made them pay for the new gate lol. Yeah unfortunately people don't learn.

@@kyleb06 now that would be cool to have. We have red light cameras on some of our traffic signals at busy intersections (I think like 10 of them have red light cameras, many of which are in the southwest where I live, I have to go through 1 of them when I go railfanning). I also wouldn't mind seeing speed cameras put up, we have a big problem with speeders and street racers here and gate runners. If they had to start with 2 RxR gate cameras here in Bakersfield I would say Sumner Street and Baker Street would be the best places to start. You are pretty much guaranteed to get multiple gate runners each time the gates activate and those crossings are very close together.

@@kyleb06 and the L St crossing here in Bakersfield is in a QZ too and 2 buildings on the west side (1 on each side of the tracks) makes it almost impossible to see anything coming EB.

Incredibly stupid idea to do this type of thing, a train cant stop for sometimes miles after applying brakes,if you happen to get stuck, youd better jump outta the car, or say your prayers and hope that by some slim chance you'll survive,OR,you could simply obey laws, and let the railroad crossings do their job, which is keeping you alive, personally i think they should have a motorized pole that would rise up out of the ground on both sides of the crossing so people would be forced to wait
