I own the stargazer version. I really like it. I can't compare it to other bell tents but my experiences with backpacking tents and tarps tells me it s of good quality. I also spent over a week in it and experienced high winds and rains and stayed very dry! The condensation lingers a while longer on the plastic/clear window material but its a neat feature and let's a ton of light into the tent, which also heats and drys it out.
Very nice! I could see the condensation being visible and possibly sticking around longer as it's not breathable like the canvas. Our tent did get some water inside on the first rain, but that's normal for canvas tents. Glad you're happy with your stout!
HI. Curious to find out what tent brand gas held up the best for your commercial use? We also run a glamping business in South Africa and are now testing a US brand for our bell tents..
Hey Kenny great video…my niece wants me to set up my tent for bday she’s turning 6. What would be a good option when you have to pitch a tent and there is a sidewalk you can’t avoid which makes the ground unleveled? I hope you can help.
We place tents on/over sidewalk all the time. No big deal as long as you can stake the groundsheet/support ropes. Sometimes we won’t be able to stake the groundsheet in 2 or 3 spots because the tent sits on partial concrete. Won’t cause an issue unless you get strong winds and have the support ropes properly staked.
Interesting point about the floor feeling thinner than Canvas Camp. I'm shopping between the two and would plan on having this tent up for several months at a time, so durability is key. I do like that Stout has the tent stove jack already installed though.
Unless you set up regularly on rocky soil, you should be good to go with it being permanent. Canvas camp ProTech is the only model that has better ground sheet in my opinion. Also, I came across an almost identical tent to stout. Worth checking out/comparing as there are drastic price differences. “Glamcamp” on Amazon. Pretty identical tent with the exception of stakes. I prefer the glamcamp ones to stout.
We use stout and overall like them. They’ve all I’ve used, so nothing to compare to. The bags are definitely not lasting as they are stating to tear where the handles attach. And I’ve bent several of the ground stakes. As for the tents themselves, so far so good.
Thanks for watching Darrell! I like the stout, but not my favorite when compared to others. I have a couple holes in the groundsheet from placing on rocky areas. A bent stake is inevitable, regardless of where you purchased the tent. 😂
Depends on your area. If your climate gets a lot of rain, you may have to weatherproof it more often and take extra steps to ensure it is SUPER dry when storing it away. Any moisture left on the tents can cause the tents to accumulate mold. I’ve worked in both climates…so much easier and less maintenance in arid climates
based on this video, I would not consider stout for our business. Once our tents are up, we don't take them down unless we need to do a repair. For us, the issue we experience with all the brands to date are that the zips tend to go first and then the mesh.. its a shame nature hike don't make a classic bell tent because their overall quality is the best I've seen. We are excited about the US brand we have just starting using.. great quality
If your tents are stationary, life in tents is amazing! SUPER thick and durable canvas. They have higher side walls which makes for a much roomier experience. www.lifeintents.com
@@kenryoung Thanks, I will check them out. We have just starting using the 5m White Duck Avalon. We love the brand and overall design and quality of this tent.

@@kenryoung ok ty. Someone in group said I could place plywood and cover it to protect the tent.
unless your groundsheet is really low quality, shouldn't be a problem. most tents are made to be set up on dirt/rocky surfaces.

@@kenryoung Why do you prefer the glamcamp one? Is the quality of the tent itself similar?
@@samantha-p almost identical in terms of quality, hardware, tent bag, etc. half the price! Test it and if you don’t like it you can return :)
@@kenryoung Thanks so much for the reply!
good review. i would like to see a video of it whenever you have it all glamped out.
Check out Pitched Glamping on IG. Photos & videos there. We don’t use the stout as often as our other tent models.

Is there a lot of maintenance involved with canvas tents?
