UPDATE: The verbal NDA just lifted and basically confirmed what I suspected. They barely have one zone, the riverlands, and not even that one is finished.
@@Neeko2lo did you hear the riot interview? ive been playing every mmorpg ever for like 20 years now and they stated, that back then league of legends was just a project to get the company started and became so huge they didnt have time or ressource for anything else anymore. theyr original plan was to make an mmorpg and they said THE EXACT THINGS ive been saying about mmorpgs since wrath of the lichking, i have serious hope for the riot mmorpg though i dont like the world for an mmorpg its just a too strange fantasy its too close to final fantasy on the scale. ff simply isnt suited for normal mmorpgs they would need to go very very wild to make it better then what 14 has been (a sht show) they did some things differently with a very basic mmorpg structure as its backbone which was easy for casuals to adopt while enjoying the theme of ff but it never was anything close to a good mmo and could never pull of the typical mmorpg. well anyways i rather wait for some more years then have 20 more years of absolute garbage to swim through .. i cant take it anymore.

@@escarretada For old school MMorpg gamer like me ( EQ, DAoC, GW1 ), there are huge hope : Eternal tombs (Free pre alpha test the 2nd April) and I test Pantheon RotF the 23 march I do not looking for Modern MMorpg anymore. They really are all the same. No strat. No synergy. No soul. You play solo most of the time Just spam click with 0 danger or threat (especially for Range classes) But people trash talk about these kind of old school MMorpg although they never tried it. It is the most stressfull gameplay you can have. Cause everymove you can make, can wipe your party. If you are out of mana it's most of the time wipe. And you are not full mana in 10 sec out of combat or have unlimited mana to cast spell. You cannot escape just by double tap dodging. You have to combine skills with your mate. Manage ressources like hell. Most mmorpg are boring now cause you lvl up solo (cf NW) ... just go in dungeon with random pugs.
And yet, he said nothing wrong. It does not matter if they are "yes sayers" or not. The game looks absolutely dogshit in terms of gameplay as a class + graphics. It is 2024, not 2012. With graphics and gameplay/animations such as Black Desert (only an example, idgaf about the game) that also came out ages ago, you cannot release a game, looking and playing like this.
2:31 they want 85 nodes but only 4 variants but 10 stages within the variants. So its not nearly as complicated as people think. They had to rework the node thing like 10 times.
The echo chamber effect with such a high entry price is a very real thing. It just creates opposing groups which leads to a lack of rationality on both sides of the argument.
The only real problem with this game, IMO, is selling cosmetics BEFORE the game is even on its alpha state. Like there are a few things that they can't even change anymore, because they "SOLD" a model already. Other than selling cosmetics and alpha keys, i've they've been on spot for everything else. Have you played Ravendawn? It's a 2.5D MMORPG that's basically ashes of creation. They just released, with many of AoC functionalities, and there are a few really good things on that game. But a few ugly ones aswell. Feels like a playground for ashes.
They are selling much more than cosmetics my friend. They are selling things like a ‘2 day head start before release’ for 400 DOLLARS. Their newsletters bombard you with limited time cosmetics, coercing you to buy items for a game that doesn’t exist. They won’t show you 99% of the game because “spoilers” lmao. Normally, game testers get paid, but you have to PAY hundreds of dollars to test this game LOL. And people actually fall for the “people who pay are better testers line LMFAO. SCAM GAME
I kinda of agree with your points, although I'm still hopeful. Think it's also concerning we never saw anything basic like class auguments yet etc. But I still believe Ashes if pretty much the most promising MMO from all the ones announced so far
About the graphics and objects being known - I don't think so. They are luckily closed us with teasers in one zone so we will still have tons of bioms to discover which is good thing. People complain that they don't show us other bioms but that is actually a good thing.
Exactly they aren't showing the entire world or biomes because they want the players to experience it for the first time in game. IDK why that is seen as a bad thing lol, too many spoilt MMO players imo.
I think what really made me realize what was wrong was a video by Narc alongside the Riot MMO news. It made me realize that nothing is guaranteed in the gaming industry, and the longer a product takes to release, the more it gets left behind.
Some people in the MMOrpg community is hilarious. Here you have a few game studios that trying to break the barriers and create something new within the stagnating MMO-genre, and when it take more time then "expecting", people start to complaining ..They are implementing things that no MMOrpg done before, give'em some credit.
Some people are optimistic some pessimistic. Its good to be fair yes but also not blind sheep. They indeed try to do create something new and huge if you ask my opinion (i strongly believe that in launch they will brake the previous record of players). But they are also kinda late already and with the current speed some people wont be around to play it especially the younger ages cause their life will change until the release. Making every city looking different, depenting the race that contribute the most, or making the same armor looking different for any class or race.. some people find it unnecessary, and that waste more time
There are few points that got me nodding in agreement but the video itself was disjointed and messy to watch. Hopefully organize your thoughts and be more concise next time.
indie studio? they have 200 developers what the fuck you on about? and they are building procedural tools to make things easily, just play Alpha 2 in Q3 this year and see for yourself, some of us have NDA access and its hilarious to see content creators clueless about game development not understand they dont want to ruin the experience by showing everything on stream
How many developers do you need to not be considered an indie studio? What's the cut-off point? Is Intrepid considered AAA now with 200 employees? I'm just curious here.
It depends not only on the count of employees, but also on a project that you are developing. 200 employees seems like okay, but still not enough in my opinion for this project. First of all you need to develop tools/systems which will realize the concrete of your project. Than you need to create a world, it's require a lot of people(designers, etc) @@allthatishere
@@allthatishere well you can say, that, the money, the time, and the number of ppl working on it its from a almost AAA. indie studios dont have much money, and ppl working on it, id say that over 100 ppl on the studio makes the label " indie " disappear
I played it on JP release. I liked the controls but the game lacked creativity and content overall (also pvp). So I'm not super hopeful but I might try it again on western launch
its been 350 years...lol well feels like it anyway. I'm one of those players that would rather a company take it's time and release a solid game instead of the half finished buggy mess most MMO's do. Buuuut my hope and patients are sadly coming to an end with this one. It's going to hit a point that they put this off so long that IF it ever is released it's going to be beyond dated graphics and game play wise. I think they have promised more than any LARGE company could ever deliver as a release. I'm sad to say I think it's become just delusions of grandeur but that's just my opinion.
eh as a Star Citizen backer i have had to learn a wait and see attitude. I have a $50 "can't play until its released package" and NO More. I got burned by Crowfall spent about $500 buying Land Parcels Castles etc..none of any use and none of their systems worked like they promised.
How do you feel about SC atm with all the talk of players actually getting to test out PYRO system now? I like the progress but I personally have been wanting them to focus more on the core systems like Mining materials that lead to Crafting then base building and base building leading to farming and other resources the players can either make money from, this gameplay loop has been what I hope they prioritize soon or even at all in the near future instead of diluting the system with ships. IMO ships should've been something to work hard towards instead of IRL money items and there's so many currently in game that the base ships have lost appreciation or sentimental value, What I'm saying is every film or show I've seen with a captain and ship, you learn to understand the sentimental value the captain has for their ship even when the ship looks rusted or not of the same monetary value as a luxury vessel, the captain treasures their ship and that IMO is what is lost from the ships but my opinion isn't gospel and there's probably many who disagree with me and that's perfectly fine.
@@CHIM3RA.I haven't spent any money on the project, but I've been following SC since 2017. From what I've seen, the community sentiment changes like the phases of the moon. lol People are riding high and are optimistic with the more recent jumpgate tests, but give it 2-3 weeks and people will be feeling pretty cynical about the project's development after CIG does something stupid again.
@allthatishere Very true lol. Just look back after Citcon the copium was at an all time high 😭 then dropped after a few weeks 😅. Now the same thing again with PYRO testing.
@@CHIM3RA. i think we got a very interesting year ahead. But with starcitizen its better not to get hyped too much about whats to come and just enjoy what we have. During that time i rly connected with my light fighter. So not having earned it ingame didnt take away all the good moments i had with it. But yeah, the monetisation, soon TM, sc is still sc. Imo its worth to like it anyway.
@PopskuII yeah i see what you mean. I still love to see when SC has good progress like with the character customisation and seeing SQ42 really could be in its final stages is what I'm really ready to sink many hours of play into.
I agree that they announced this game too big, augmentations will probably mostly be some visuals and/or mini upgrades to skills, nodes gonna just pop levels instead of slowly upgrading which is doable, they already did it in Alpha 1, but even the 2 nodes that they shown us have copy-pasted objects so they will be pretty much almost the same so it doesn't matter if they announced 85 nodes or 850 if they will be copypasted buildings and interiors. This will be just cool pvp game without much lore or depth in terms of cities. You can't automate every city to be unique, they will be 90% of the times almost the same with just different spots on specific buildings. Thats why I am sad that we don't have pre-defined metropolies that can be great cities and smaller villages would just be copy pasted.
It doesn't sound like you know a lot about the node system. You know there are 9 different aesthetics depending on the most contributing race, right? And that mayors can choose what kind of buildings to build? And that what you saw in Alpha 2 was years ago, before they developed their custom procedural node creation system?
your argument: there's a lot of stuff, but it's only an indi studio. They will not be able to do that, because they are so small - well, at 2017 they where only 20 people working on that, now they are over 120. So they grown a bit ;) and they are far from being "just a small indi studio" nowadays. your argument: they didn't show us all in the showcases - yes, because - as said multible times in almost every showcase - it's still not finished and also they will not spoiler everything, so the players are still able to explore and find stuff. your argument: they have racial-, archtype-, religion-,... augments. They can't do that. - have you ever played The Elder Scrolls Online? It's basicly the same technice. And the game was launched in 2014 on PC. So this hole "Change you skill, depends on class, race, vampire/werewolf, and so on..." is basicly a 10yo system ;) it's accually in a game, that runs for a decade ;) Also: a primary and changeable secondary class system is also nothing new. Guild Wars 1 did it in 2005. ArchAge in 2013... your argument: they don't have a baseline for the classes itself yet - they showed us a few classes (with their skills) already: tank, cleric, mage, ranger, fighter (old version). But: as low level character. As far as I know: the multi class system will be unlocked at lvl25 (maybe in a quest?). So they just showed us only the low level characters to have a feeling: "this is what we're trying to create here, and from here you can customise your character." your question: how much longer does it take to get the game done? - please take note how long it took to get Baldurs Gate 3 ;) Yes, the fans wanted to have the game asap! But the studio always said: "please give us the time to do it right! Please don't force us to rush it into launch unfinished and full of bugs!" - I mean, we all know some big titels that failed because of exaclty that ;) Hello dear Cyberpunk, NoManSky, and so many more... yes, a lot of them fixed their game later on. But the damange to the studio and the game was already done. Baldurs Gate 3 was like: "WOW! A studio, that can release a good looking, fun to play, and full funcional game! Mindblowing!" crazy right? But with all the crap we got over the years, this was a releave! And I hope inpretid studios do it like that: "Will will give you the game, when it's finished" I will wait. I rather wait a few more years, then having an unfinished fail release. your argument: Mage combat looks outdated. Or is it just Steven? - Ok, first of all: yes, Steven often can't play the class at all xD But that's ok. We can also see what happens, when you play like a moron - you die. Me in person like the fact "F around and find out" - it's not like "haha, here's my GM god mode cheat, I can 1hit everything and none of those can even bother me!". Speaking of "very old combat systems" - have you seen how many people playing classic WOW and love it? even new players joind these servers ;) your point: 250$ Alpha 2 key with consmetics - yes, 250$ is a lot. I give you that. But it has ingame cosmatics an Alpha 2 key, and some months subscriptions already payed. But yeah, it's still a lot. On the other hand: have you ever ordered a premium steel box of a game? Or a premium game box with a figure of an ingame character? And/Or with a "play the game 5 days earlier"? The elder Scrolls Online, Star Wars the old Republic, ... Did it cost way more then the normal game? Of cause it did! And we only talking about an Alpha here. Normaly people wheren't allowed the enter an Alpha. Beta - maybe. But Alphas are very rare. Of cause a lot of contenct creators from YT, Twitch, Kick and so on want to test this and make some content with it. They (and some morons like me) wanna test the game in Alpha status. now you're talking about exploration - haha, at first you wanted to see all the stuff (see aboth), now you complain people might see to many stuff in the Alpha. funny. Ok, see the map is BIG. I mean REALY BIG! Th riverlands alone is the size of all of New World! And you think people can explore the complete game with all it's secrets in a short period of time during the Alpha? I can hardly belive that. As far as I know: the Alpha will "only" show the riverlands and one or two addition regions. So there will be still a lot to explore. They can also deside to block some dungeon entries during the Alpha because of work in progress. you said: every single gras, stone, figure will be known - they showed a few designs, sure. Now think about WOW for a sec. How many design items are in Classic WOW alone? and that's a very old game. Lets say: Blizzard showed in their presentation 5 armor designs as a hole "set" for every armor type and also like 4 differend weapon designs for every weapon (including grey, white, green, blue) - then you still haven't seen the epics or legendaries. Then they would show us some enemies like the centaur, the basiliscs, the yeties, the murlocs... it would be a long presentation! And there would still be stuff like the dragons, the giants, .... and a lot more What I want to say: we only discovered the tip of an iceberg so far. the studio took a long more time then others - Wel WOW took about 7-8years to get ready. Sure, New World took way less. But it's Amazon ;) and also: you can search "bugs in New World" or "copie paste in New World" here on YT - I highly recoment popcorn here, it's a rollercoaster. So on one hand you said at the beginning: "there's a lot of work! not sure if they can handle it!" and now you said "they took far to long to get things done"? Aaaaaah ok... you're joking, got it ;) even bigger companies struggle with the way system works and how players interact in and with it -Thank you! We are now on the same side! Let them cooking! They already said, they want a higher playerbase as last time to interact with the world. And they are very aware that some might try to exploid stuff in there. They will use these information then, to update the system. As often said: the game is still work in progress. So if you see stuff in the showcase that isn't correct yet - suprise: the game isn't complete yet. I mean, you can't go into a house with only walls and still under construction and complain "Oh what a crap shit house! The is no furniture here!" and the construction worker next to you rise one eyebrow like: "Are you serious?"
Well yeah my point was: IF they are so "transparent" about their developement as they say then they not only have very little content but also show every little part of it already. In a perfect world, they have a fuckload of content and just show very little, amazing teasers of that.
@@Neeko2lo They are transparent about a lot, but they certainly not as willing to show the complete picture. They could have shown a lot of content by now if they wanted, but guess what, it would be a bunch of static content that would be completely separate and unchanging. Then they would have to start over again reworking every piece of content to fit into the node system and dynamic world. The problem with complicated systems is that it usually doesn't come together as something cohesive until it's close to finished, implementation is paramount, and so much wasted time to work on implementing content before those system are mostly done and they know it's not going to change much. The best they can do is prepare the content as much as possible. If they are planning correctly, and maybe they haven't. then they should have a lot of prepared content, written quests, commissions, models and mob types, rewards, and most "content" is much more trivial to implement than the systems when they have all the assets and systems ready. They need a lot of content, but not nearly as much as you think for the node system to work. Same with classes, it's not nearly as complicated and much work as you think. Last Epoch witch just came out, is way more complicated in terms of how their abilities work, but the combat and abilities is 90% of that game. We don't know where exactly they are in this case, and it would be nice if they showed more, but in the meantime we can just wait, the start of alpha 2, and especially the first year of alpha 2 is going to show how far along they really are.
very well said mate. The guy doesn't actually know what development pace he wants AoC to be so in the same video he complains about both paces of game development lmao. That's a spoilt attitude if I've ever seen one 😂😂.
@allthatishere exactly yet they took so long in development to release a single player game and they received the same criticisms as Intrepid studios who is trying to make a large scale MMO which is way more difficult than BG3. People like the guy in this video have been complaining about the large scale MMO AoC not being completed by an indie studio who started with 20 devs but can't release in 8 years and that was never a realistic timeline for Intrepid Studios. Timelines for large scale MMO's is more likely a minimum of 7+ years of development for an indie studio in my opinion, and AoC seems like it could be released in the next 2-4 years as the most recent video updates from them have showcased the core gameplay loops that looks decently playable but does need more polishing of course which is a good sign for the players if that's all we can find in these gameplay videos. Every system they previously shown like the classes, combat, building, mining, gathering, farming, dungeons, world bosses, caravan system, sieges from Alpha 1 and many others showcased over the years have given me hope, and all they need is more polishing as the foundations of these systems look very capable just jank asf from when we last saw them. Think about all the systems I just mentioned that AoC has physically shown to have already in game now all you need to imagine is these systems working together to see how much value AoC has actually provided us, although jank asf you must understand what an ALPHA is for game development.
This video was clean and on point…. Tbh I have never observe these issues on AOC and it reminds me of chamelot unchained failure… at first I thought dude was just a hater but all of his concerns are true..the only thing I disagree is the monetary system since Devs said multiple times that it definitely won’t be ptw… But man how u expect an indie studio to pull out such a big game without external funding? I honestly think that when the game launches they should sell it for like 100-150 euros and also to have micro transactions selling cosmetics..
In case someone doesnt know the game will have no box price, but a 15 dollars sub per month. The 100-150 sounds out of this world btw. for some people those are monthly wage they arent all americans making 100dollars per day so chill a little
Well the point I'm trying to make is: They are probably showing most of what they have. So not knowing the systems now probably just means they arent developed yet and once they are they will tell us everything about it
just like any other game with a lot of alpha and presumably theres going to be a lot of beta tests, games get figured out during this time, happens to every game that has alpha & beta tests.
there even nothing to solve, big guild from another game will dominate there, just farm whole map in party of 4 players and that's it, you max lvl with almost best gear, than same players just go and capture nodes, now they all have best gear in game and monopolize it
With now almost 200 people working at Intrepid, there is simply no way they aren't much further along than they are showing. With the constant overselling of studios and players being disappointed and leaving these games I believe Steven is keeping the overhyping in check by showing the minimum during the development updates. He said it himself and it makes the most sense; they need A2 to blow everything we've seen out of the water. Also remember that the development updates are only there for intrepid to gain feedback on systems, not to show everyone how far along they are. Sure I might be coped out of my asshole but Steven is a smart cookie. Showing his hand up util alpha2 wouldn't do anything but disappoint and he knows that.
Great comment about how the update videos aren't actually a "here's the ONLY thing we've been working on in game right now." I never thought about that and I agree It's definitely a spotlight on a subject they want the player base to discuss and give feedback as they always have AMA's in the same livestream after everything's showcased. Thanks for the perspective.
But how do you know they actually have 200 ppl working ? There's no proof, most ppl only got this infos from their discord. No one really know how many ppl they actually have.
Why are so many people "over" AoC? It's just a game, why cant you be excited for the propisition of a new game without having 100% faith in it hitting everything stated. Just be happy there is an indi company attempting something great that could keep many people entertained for a long time. If you don't want to support, the brilliant thing is you dont have to but dont spout nonsense if you are unaware. Just be hopeful or worst case, just forget it and if it comes to fruition, slink on it and enjoy.
Why shouldnt people be critical about gamers now days have every right for it. We only get shit over shit and for 7 years Development the game doesnt even look close to beeing finishes maybe another 7 years.
Alpha... 2... Ok, I'm probably speaking from a minority position in all fronts, but I had the alpha 1 pack. I am an artist, and I make good money.. (I worked for a couple hours and decided wth). I am not overly invested even in gaming these days, but its something I enjoy casually. However, I was an avid to hardcore gamer most of my life when I was a bit younger. Ashes seemed and seems to me like the best hope for the genre. That being said, in my experience, the testers are actually very into reporting things properly. The community within that sphere is fairly plain about feedback over all. Alpha 1 was small, then the engine swap, and now alpha 2 approaching. I would assume they would have base classes available to level 20 in alpha 2, so they can potentially add the secondary class system during some spot testing events after. When it comes to tech, I think they really only need a few functioning nodes to be able to build them dependably across the world, but the transitions to the larger nodes does seem like a bug filled nightmare, so we shall see.
This is the highest level of dooming I've seen so far 😂 I'm just casually following ashes and got 20 years of mmo experience and 25 years gaming experience under my belt. You have to be huffing some serious doomium to think ashes is a scam. Making a actual good mmo takes time. Not some new world bullshit
@@Neeko2lo BDO's studio was founded 4 years before the game was announced and blizzard was a studio with many games under their belt and already established before announcing. Intrepid didnt even have 10 employees when they announced the game. Very intellectually dishonest statement bud.
@@WhiskeyAfterHours And who cares about that? If the game isn't ready the game isnt ready no degree of making excuses for the length of developement will make it release earlier
If the game is good and out classes every other mmo out there then its worth it. Subs mean the game can continue to grow and players can continue to get enjoyment from a single game for years. Ive spent way more on multiple garbage games in a year with no subs. Constantly moving from one failure to the next. Im not sure what the launch price will be, hell it could be free with sub. That is more then affordable. Most ppl spend the price of a sub in a single day worth of alchol, nicotine, cokes, junk food or some other vice that lasts a few moments.
And just to imagine some idiots out there suggest that the price of 15 dollars is low and they can pay 20-30dollars per month, they are fine with that. The game wont have box price, its free with sub tho. And it doesnt matter if we spend the same amount for nicotine. Exactly cause we spend already a lot of money majority cant afford the 25-30 dollars per month sub. We aint all americans making 100 dollars per day. Most of the people dont have that extra amount.
1. "Why didn't they showcase what's happening, why didn't they go in there". Because that was not the point of the showcase.... They showed it in the end as an extra, but had nothing to do with showcase. 2. This is no longer an "indie studio". They have over 200 employees. And who are YOU, and what is your resume in game development to say what they can develop in a certain timeframe? You are a RUclips influencer, stay in your lane. 3. Class Augmentation is not a brand new class, it's a subclass. Just like GW2 or ESO with stam/mag specific skill morphs. 4. "Combat looks dated" That is subjective. 5. No one of the forums is talking about the cost of A2 bundles... Where are you getting that information from? Their YT videos don't have those comments either.
Don't bother with thi youtuber, i came here with a similar post and he deleated it. Obvisouly how crazy he doesn't know what he is talking about. He talks like his opinion was fact
I was probably too much of an optimist when I purchased access to the alpha. I have also been coming to the conclusion for some time that their progress for such a production time is very poor. Unless they started making the game completely from scratch after alpha 1.
@@xCredibilitytechnically if you count the whole battle royal version it started as too then its started from scratch at least twice. Likely they have changed direction with classes and node systems multiple times we don’t even know about. Most of us older gamers are less concerned with the orgins and long term processes of where/ a game starts and mostly just want a developer to take time and create something that is finished and fun that we can enjoy and get into for years once it launches. Im tired of buying crap games over and over that are underdeveloped and i get a month or two in before i cant stand it anymore. Just let it cook. We can always buy the BS games in the mean time just like we would have if ashes never existed.
Same as the people who only see the positive side of the game and speculate about what a wonderful mmo it will be in the end. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle. Also 7 years is a long time to develope a mmo and it does seems like Ashes has still years of development ahead of it. Alpha 2 will probably show a bit better what the actual mmo will be like in some shape and form.
You are basing your argument on it not actually functioning and just being staged for a showcase. I don't see how you can be that confident in that assumption. Particularly after this year's showcases. Yes they've had to manually activate things but that is required due to the nature of the large scale content. The question is whether the system is there and they are changing a variable to trigger it or are they manually staging an event at a location. I don't think you can confidently say that one way or the other. Imo this year's showcases look very much like a functioning game. In the past it looked very staged (understandably), but lately you've seen builds with cohesive gameplay as Alpha 2 approaches. Obviously they have a ton of content still to make, but is the system there to plug and play the content as it's made. They need that to pump out content before release. We'll see in a few months.
Well I agree that its more an assumption than a fact. But the most recent nodeshowcase was the most certain example of a fundamental system not being in place yet.
@@Neeko2lo Again I don't see how can you be certain. For example, do they change a node experience variable to trigger the event or do they have to run x event at y location to showcase it. Big difference. I don't see the evidence that it was the later.
@@Neeko2lo Run the Carphin showcase after this showcase and you have an example of that. Don't think it's much of a stretch to have those two systems connected.
He is hate baiting for content is what it comes down to. This is what happens when there is no new mmorpgs or games so creators tend to be the usual youtubers and take things out of context to look bad for clicks.
Too many (incorrect) assumptions and unrealistic expectations (sorry, I don't currently have the time to address those one by one). AoC is a very ambitious project, yes but it's also a passion project, not just a money making scheme. It's going to take time to achieve their goal of getting it right, as opposed to just pushing out a game asap. Give it time, go play something else while keeping an eye on AoC's progress (and provide relevant feedback where possible). Just my 2c...
I think you're wrong, but I absolutely understand your point of view. Those who can pay that much money for a game at such an early status are typically a gaming class that represents an older age group of higher educated working people for whom gaming is an important hobby in addition to family, not the typical Generation Z high schooler. It is more important for them to get quality gaming time and they are willing to pay for it. That is why the criticism from them is more constructive and relevant to the future of gaming. The best example (complex game mechanics, regular monthly fee, mmo etc) is e.g. the hardcore players of EVE online, where the average age is around 33-35 years old and full of crazy and brilliant people. I'm one of the Alpha 2 supporters described above and regularly post constructive criticism on the internal forums in order to make the game better for everyone. I think conceptually there is a lot more to the game than you think, just not worth showing off from a marketing point of view before the finale. I wish you all the very best and trust that in time it will become clear to all that we are in for a truly great game as we move towards beta. Please be patient, because this is not your average mmo, but a very complex system, the likes of which are not really available in this context.
And yet an mmo is already dead that only caters to the paying audience, like any other mmo whose most important measurement for success is the f2p/less paying player retention.
Haven’t been confident in this game since wpvp. It’s good in theory but in practice it’s not attractive for mmorpgs. If I wanted PvP and crafting I’d play New World or any survival game out there.
the way the class trees are set up is not a super complex thing the idea has been implemented in to small games long time ago Titan quest 2006 and more recent in Grim Dawn and Arch age i dont thank its that much of a stretch to say that this is not a big deal, might seem that way to some one that has not played a game with that class system before but you acting like its some new thing that has never been dun, just saying it has and its not that hard of a concept to put in to a game if any things holding this game back its the Node system and the need to make money off pre order monthly mounts
One of the most obvious red flags about ashes are those extremely long videos that showcase basically nothing. They make 1 hour videos that showcase content that maybe warrant a 1 minute video. If the head developer has nothing better to do than make hundreds of videos where he is constantly astounded by minor improvements and new skins, while 99% of the content thats promised for the game is nowhere to be seen, you already know what direction all this is heading.
I agree with some points you made other i dont agree with. There are alot of amazing mmos. Ashes is trying to compete with the likes of wow, ff, acheage, not including all console mmo communities. They have to release a game that shocks the mmo community or it will be quick forgetten about .. not saying any name "cough cough"new world. This is realy tough in 2024. Like so tough people want everything from a mmo. If ashes doesnt release with this it will be dropped quickly. So that being said they are taking there time. I expect if they do everything correctly and dont rush this if could be a wow moment for them. I not a big ashes fan boy but i know what they are competeing with and its not hard task , its an insanely hard task. Time will tell but i would rather the team delay a few years and make a master peice than rush out a unfinished pos that people stop playing after a week.
I still don't know how people can build entire games without having an idea of what player classes can do. No seriously, take a look at something like XIV where any interaction between players and from player to world is just non-existent. It's so mediocre.
Its weird to see how this game looks like a classic 15-20 year old MMO and its still no even close to release, the tap target combat and bad graphics are sth that can be had with so many old MMORPGs, no need to put 10 years of development into a near game.
Weird shit to put the game director's face on your youtube thumbnail image with the markings on it. I'm not a white knight for the game but Steven hasn't done anything to deserve to be punked like that.
I'm do glad that we get to wait until like 2035 that means that they actually cares. That and the engine switch with put back the relase date. They way too many pepole that if its not perfect in open alpha they gonna just be mad and complain about all the glitches. Bruhh its why its not finished. If we want to bring back MMO RPG as an genera for people thats not just 30/40 we need to up the game we need to put care in and stop with all thes shit games. If amazon would have waited awith realesingbtheir MMO until now or 2035 perfect the engine instead of giving out a pile of pop maybe we would not have a genere of games that only live on nostalgia.
i bet you over 40 yo (or maybe 10) and let me tell you why and if not you must reconsider. You already have your standar job, house, wife and kids and you dont care so much cause your life aint changing in the next years that much. So you have that attitude "take as much time as you need guys i can wait 10 more years" ofc you can cause u dont have anything else to wait in life so you want a dope game to retire. If you are younger, and in general people in ages 20-30 cant wait that much cause if they need 5-11 years more their life will be totaly different when the game comes out. Different house, job, girlfrind, kids... their life will change for them and they wont be around to play this if it takes so long. So imagine someone who follows the game since 2017 and he was 20. its 2024 now he is 27, if the game needs another 5-10 years he will be 32-37. That means a totaly different life. Good night
@@Skull7Prayer I'm 24 dude and I hate every mmo out there on the market right now there are just shit. This mmo could actually good tho if they work on it and don´t push shit out like new world. and other mmo.

Evidently most people dont' have a clue when it come to game design..especially a MMO, and throw in a 2 year pandemic on top of that.....videos like these are hilarious to me...
You all talk about pandemic like it was the black death... Yeah ok there was a flu so what. They dont have computers in their homes? They dont have their tools there? Even in the studio thay can go and work from their desk they dont have customers or contact with other people. The production could continue 100% its not a job that requires natural presence anyway. But its a very good excuse when you want to earn some time i get it... The pandemic should move the process faster not slow it down cause they didnt do other things exept working, no bars no vacations not family tables... BS
Great video, addressed important key points, also some minor stuff left out but hopefully that is naturally revealed to those who have a look at the game
all those keypoints has been address a bunch of time on their monthly live update. if this person just spent some time researching about this particular game. lmao
What's the issue? we're on a cusp of realization, games with this scope these days take a decade or more to develop, RDR2? CP2042? The witcher 4? these are just examples, there definitely are a lot more examples that I'm not aware of. People will eventually realize this.
game looks outdated and its few years away from release.. damn 100% there will be just primary classes and no secondary classess on launch I gave honest feedback on the forums and guess what happened: they deleated my post because it was promoted "toxic behaviour" which is against the rules... yeaaah
kinda reminds me gameforge, any1 who speaks the truth insta receives the whiplash dictatorship called :toxic behaviour . TLDR as Neeko said : if you dont agree with the echo-chamber you'r insta flagged as toxic. LMAO.....
This game is making a lot of money by doing nothing. It loses investment potential by releasing and starts to inccure real operational costs and expectations..
@@allthatishere I mean star citizen has been like that quite a while. Or they could sell it to publisher. Maybe it'll be fine. At this point he's probably made good on his investment and has all those fomo package bonuses. As long as he's not risky gambling on the markets 😅

Yeah im over AoC too, they started loosing me when I found out that the player housing was included in the node if it was destroyed and then you would have to find another place to live. I don't know about ya'll but if I buy a player house i want it to persist and dont want to have to keep remaking house after house and now its been soo long just forget it.
The layout of your home can be saved so that you can instantly have it back the way it was once you've got your new home. Actions having consequences is the core philosophy of this game.
Yeah cause when an enemy node destroys your capital after days (maybe even weeks) of war, you expect your house remain untouched and nothing will change. Thats an alive world dude, people build and destroy it every day from release. Its not a city build game

I've never been excited for this game. It will clearly fail + probably a scam 8 years + 50 millions $ later ... Seems nothing have been made Look what We have seen and what they want in Alpha 2 ( and the game in general)... it is like 5% They just talk about things but never show. It is supposed to be a MMO rpg... and the max players we have seen is like 25 in the same area (and probably dev area, and they want 10k players by server !!! ) I also remember the "dungeon" show.. where they just showed the entrance xD ... Rofl If people really believe Alpha 2 will be this year... they should stop doing drugs (even if it release I cannot imagine the mess). They just announced alpha 2 cause they needed money and had to say something after 7 years of dev . A pur scam bait. And during this time they sell limited time cosmetics on a cash shop ? who the hell do that ??!!!! Even Pantheon Rise of the Fallen did more ( and at least playable)

When u showed the node changing footage that was footage from ages ago and that footage was still unreal engine 4. Why are u showing old footage when there is literally video of the nodes chaging
Well, nodes as a system isn't anything new, tbh. There are plenty of games with similar systems like this, though I do think AoC's take on it is pretty interesting.
i don't think this game will be any good, maybe die in the first 4 months just like NEW WORLD. idea is old, graphic is outdated (yes, if you compare this with ESO or Black Desert Online which came out 10 years ago, AoC looks just worse) skill looks pretty generic - assest flips, yeah yeah we have some fire bolt, generic ice AOE, random purple magic shot..... like.... i see it in every MMORPG ever, even free to play mobile games have it. animation looks really like student project, i mean...... it's 2024, and by the year 2027 it officially releases, you guys feel okay with this animation? many korean free to play games already have better animation than this... female character doesn't look that hot, admit it you prefer hot female character over WOKE sheejt

If i look at it and what i see is an MMO that looks like it was made in 2010 and has a worse combat than Archeage, a game from 2013, i'm not hyped, simple as that. How could i care if the game has some complex Node and class systems if the basics you're showing me look like ass? And i agree with you about the AoC echo chamber. Personally i'm unable to trust the opinion of people who, not only invested quite a lot of time and money into the game but they're also desperate for an MMO so they "NEED" to enjoy it
Well, I'm wondering if any of that 19500ish backers had passed away before game finally release...R.I.P. Anyways, good video, I'm gonna play Throne and Liberty (ouch) in NA, got bored and hopefully Chrono Odyssey is out by the time, jump ship, play the hell outta that game while waiting for AOC....
In all likelihood AI will be able to cook up something even better than this and release it before ashes gets a full release. The amount of work they advertised to get investment is clearly not something a team of human devs can accomplish. Moral of the story... be more careful with your money in the future if you donated to this project.
@dwood268 Exaaactly 😂 this is what blows my mind. For a content creator to not get involved in such a highly anticipated game that is right up his alley is the equivalency of cutting your nose off to spite your face. Even if the alpha 2 is god awful he would be able to produce a ton of content, content that would get a crap load of views. Not only that but it would probably be appreciated by the devs since constructive criticism is exactly what they are looking for in alpha lol. I have a feeling there are alote of content creators that slept on pulling the trigger on alpha 2 that are going to be kicking themselves when they cant get involved. Especially if the game takes a couple more years to complete and everyone involved are really happy with the alpha. Better get to farming those keys.
UPDATE:
The verbal NDA just lifted and basically confirmed what I suspected.
They barely have one zone, the riverlands, and not even that one is finished.
The thing is even if take more 4 or 5 years, there is any decent mmorpg releasing anyway..

ff simply isnt suited for normal mmorpgs they would need to go very very wild to make it better then what 14 has been (a sht show) they did some things differently with a very basic mmorpg structure as its backbone which was easy for casuals to adopt while enjoying the theme of ff but it never was anything close to a good mmo and could never pull of the typical mmorpg.

No strat. No synergy. No soul. You play solo most of the time
Just spam click with 0 danger or threat (especially for Range classes)
But people trash talk about these kind of old school MMorpg although they never tried it.

The echo chamber effect with such a high entry price is a very real thing. It just creates opposing groups which leads to a lack of rationality on both sides of the argument.
true

@@CHIM3RA. ikr: Oh this is isn't at the level of polish as wow...im gonna go play wow...
I think what really made me realize what was wrong was a video by Narc alongside the Riot MMO news. It made me realize that nothing is guaranteed in the gaming industry, and the longer a product takes to release, the more it gets left behind.
Say that to BG3 😂
PPl that have not made mmos CRYING about development need to grow up!!!
indie studio? they have 200 developers what the fuck you on about? and they are building procedural tools to make things easily, just play Alpha 2 in Q3 this year and see for yourself, some of us have NDA access and its hilarious to see content creators clueless about game development not understand they dont want to ruin the experience by showing everything on stream
Than you need to create a world, it's require a lot of people(designers, etc) @@allthatishere

its been 350 years...lol well feels like it anyway.

They will not be able to do that, because they are so small
- well, at 2017 they where only 20 people working on that, now they are over 120.
So they grown a bit ;) and they are far from being "just a small indi studio" nowadays.
your argument: they didn't show us all in the showcases
- yes, because - as said multible times in almost every showcase - it's still not finished and also they will not spoiler everything, so the players are still able to explore and find stuff.
your argument: they have racial-, archtype-, religion-,... augments. They can't do that.
- have you ever played The Elder Scrolls Online? It's basicly the same technice. And the game was launched in 2014 on PC. So this hole "Change you skill, depends on class, race, vampire/werewolf, and so on..." is basicly a 10yo system ;) it's accually in a game, that runs for a decade ;)
Also: a primary and changeable secondary class system is also nothing new. Guild Wars 1 did it in 2005. ArchAge in 2013...
your argument: they don't have a baseline for the classes itself yet
- they showed us a few classes (with their skills) already: tank, cleric, mage, ranger, fighter (old version). But: as low level character.
As far as I know: the multi class system will be unlocked at lvl25 (maybe in a quest?). So they just showed us only the low level characters to have a feeling: "this is what we're trying to create here, and from here you can customise your character."
your question: how much longer does it take to get the game done?
And I hope inpretid studios do it like that: "Will will give you the game, when it's finished"
I will wait.
Speaking of "very old combat systems" - have you seen how many people playing classic WOW and love it? even new players joind these servers ;)
your point: 250$ Alpha 2 key with consmetics
- yes, 250$ is a lot.
They (and some morons like me) wanna test the game in Alpha status.
now you're talking about exploration
- haha, at first you wanted to see all the stuff (see aboth), now you complain people might see to many stuff in the Alpha.
They can also deside to block some dungeon entries during the Alpha because of work in progress.
you said: every single gras, stone, figure will be known
- they showed a few designs, sure. And there would still be stuff like the dragons, the giants, .... and a lot more
What I want to say: we only discovered the tip of an iceberg so far.
the studio took a long more time then others
- Wel WOW took about 7-8years to get ready.
Aaaaaah ok... you're joking, got it ;)
even bigger companies struggle with the way system works and how players interact in and with it
-Thank you!
Baldur's Gate 3 wasn't a kickstarter product, nor is an MMO.

This shit still hasn't come out? By the time it comes out it will be an outdated piece of crap. Ridiculous.
They haven’t showed a majority of their systems, but the game will be solved by release?
Well the point I'm trying to make is: They are probably showing most of what they have. So not knowing the systems now probably just means they arent developed yet and once they are they will tell us everything about it
just like any other game with a lot of alpha and presumably theres going to be a lot of beta tests, games get figured out during this time, happens to every game that has alpha & beta tests.
there even nothing to solve, big guild from another game will dominate there, just farm whole map in party of 4 players and that's it, you max lvl with almost best gear, than same players just go and capture nodes, now they all have best gear in game and monopolize it
Not even in alpha 2 bro lol tf you on 😂😂😂😢 this own chat and channel is filled with clowns who played only one MMO 😂
Well, I hope you are right.
Holy copium
Brooo where is ur updated Throne and Liberty preview ? The open beta was the shiznit.

This is the highest level of dooming I've seen so far 😂 I'm just casually following ashes and got 20 years of mmo experience and 25 years gaming experience under my belt. never said it was a scam.
Also for reference BDO and WoW Vanilla took 4-5 years to make
@@Neeko2lo BDO's studio was founded 4 years before the game was announced and blizzard was a studio with many games under their belt and already established before announcing.
Intrepid didnt even have 10 employees when they announced the game.
Very intellectually dishonest statement bud.

Following games in development isn't for everyone
I was really exited for it until I seen it’s going to be subscription based 180usd for a year or 243cad the price is ridiculous in my opinion
@@glennmiller5772 it has no box price. Only the subscription + a cosmetic shop.
Most of the people dont have that extra amount.
you flap your lips too much with a lot of assumptions and little facts.
He talks like his opinion was fact
you don't to be a game developer to see how little they have done over the past 7 years, and know how much more they need to do.

The other opinion says that this game will last for the next 20-30 years, it will be the next WoW. (not my opinion)
I was probably too much of an optimist when I purchased access to the alpha. I have also been coming to the conclusion for some time that their progress for such a production time is very poor. Unless they started making the game completely from scratch after alpha 1.
I think the swap to UE5 beginning of 2022 probably somewhat made it "start from scratch again" but also should be able to produce things quicker now
its just going to be a neverending development cycle until bankruptcy@@xCredibility

So the entire basis of your video is speculation?... and irrelevant rumors? amazing... what a waste of 20 mins.
The very name of this game is a subtle hint that the game was never intended to be finished. They are mocking us. This is known as duper’s delight’.
to be very honest i could not care less anymore about AoC
@@Ides385 I meant as in they didnt show the node actually leveling up and providing new content. They just showed it "leveling" up
@@Neeko2lo Run the Carphin showcase after this showcase and you have an example of that. Don't think it's much of a stretch to have those two systems connected.
He is hate baiting for content is what it comes down to. This is what happens when there is no new mmorpgs or games so creators tend to be the usual youtubers and take things out of context to look bad for clicks.
shut up and don't post a video about it if you don't care ?
your video would make sense in 2019 - 2020, but all your arguments does not make any sense today.
If you think most backers/alpha 2 testers will be a bunch of YesMen, then you are absolutely right.
And what do you want if not pvp and crafting from an mmorpg?
the way the class trees are set up is not a super complex thing the idea has been implemented in to small games long time ago Titan quest 2006 and more recent in Grim Dawn and Arch age i dont thank its that much of a stretch to say that this is not a big deal, might seem that way to some one that has not played a game with that class system before but you acting like its some new thing that has never been dun, just saying it has and its not that hard of a concept to put in to a game if any things holding this game back its the Node system and the need to make money off pre order monthly mounts
??? u high?
3:00 the rain effect looks horrible. I'll be very shocked if this game comes out before 2030
I still don't know how people can build entire games without having an idea of what player classes can do. No seriously, take a look at something like XIV where any interaction between players and from player to world is just non-existent. It's so mediocre.
*Classic Doomer shit take.*
*Nice clickbait title though!*
Its weird to see how this game looks like a classic 15-20 year old MMO and its still no even close to release, the tap target combat and bad graphics are sth that can be had with so many old MMORPGs, no need to put 10 years of development into a near game.
This game is feeling like Darkfall. Promising the greatest game in history and will likely deliver mid tier
Weird shit to put the game director's face on your youtube thumbnail image with the markings on it. I'm not a white knight for the game but Steven hasn't done anything to deserve to be punked like that.
Everyone has different expectations for AoC. This game is NOT for Everyone.
Good night

At least there's Riot MMO, Dune MMO and Amazon LOTR MMO in development.. Big companies that can actually afford to make MMO.
God damn steven
Probably about 3-5% complete with their release "scope" 2035 *if* it releases. Either that or they release in perpetual EA like Star Citizen ;)
Good video homie
I wonder how they even came up with the node idea? Its almost like they were thinking they needed to come up with a gimmick and came up with that.
Well, nodes as a system isn't anything new, tbh.
There are plenty of games with similar systems like this, though I do think AoC's take on it is pretty interesting.
i don't think this game will be any good, maybe die in the first 4 months just like NEW WORLD.
idea is old, graphic is outdated (yes, if you compare this with ESO or Black Desert Online which came out 10 years ago, AoC looks just worse)
skill looks pretty generic - assest flips, yeah yeah we have some fire bolt, generic ice AOE, random purple magic shot..... like.... i see it in every MMORPG ever, even free to play mobile games have it.
animation looks really like student project, i mean...... it's 2024, and by the year 2027 it officially releases, you guys feel okay with this animation? many korean free to play games already have better animation than this...
female character doesn't look that hot, admit it you prefer hot female character over WOKE sheejt
When is it supposed to drop? The progress so far suggests 2033
Yes 2033 seems to be a very educated guess
What a silly comments, I guess it can be fun to play a contrarian. You both know this isn't going to take 9 more years.
@@stickyrubb The game is nowhere near playable nor up to its scale in features. At the very least, it's going to be another 4-5 years before we see a full release unless they double the size of the team.
@@BasedChadman I disagree. Nowhere near playable? In 6 months over 100K people will be playing.
@@stickyrubb Playing a pre alpha stage of the game that is nowhere near ready and full of bugs with incomplete features. Why set yourself up for disappointment?
How are you tired of a game not out yet it might be a scam but doesn’t seem like they would showcase such huge elements of the game
Personally i'm unable to trust the opinion of people who, not only invested quite a lot of time and money into the game but they're also desperate for an MMO so they "NEED" to enjoy it
They should stop streaming.
Well, I'm wondering if any of that 19500ish backers had passed away before game finally release...R.I.P. Anyways, good video, I'm gonna play Throne and Liberty (ouch) in NA, got bored and hopefully Chrono Odyssey is out by the time, jump ship, play the hell outta that game while waiting for AOC....
a hate video about ashes of creation i see. lm 😂😂ao
In all likelihood AI will be able to cook up something even better than this and release it before ashes gets a full release. The amount of work they advertised to get investment is clearly not something a team of human devs can accomplish. Moral of the story... be more careful with your money in the future if you donated to this project.
So from this is got. German dosent think AOC is being developed efficiently enough. 🤣
Which is true :)
They literally said they will go in that place in the next update
There's no NDA on Alpha 2. Literally see for yourself if it's worth it or not.
So many red flags, but people still have hope...
