    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  Год назад +1

      @@tooPretty4Pain in some cases, you may need to use brackets...... however, a DeMorgan's BAR over an expression acts like brackets (and whatever is under it is treated as if it was enclosed in brackets)

  • @HaloWolf102

    5:20 This is not right because A'C doesn't have brackets around it.
    Your rule has an exception, unless you made a mistake.
    'Brackets must be added once 'bigbar' is removed, but only to variables that share an addition sign.'

    why are there no brackets on the first sub expression?, even though you remove a big bar from it?

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  2 года назад +1

      Brackets are required for terms connected with OR operator ...... this is due to "precedence of operators" ...... AND takes precedence over OR (so no brackets are required)..... just like multiplication and division take precedence over addition and subtraction ..... if you were doing mathematics you would bracket addition of terms but not multiplication .... "precedence of operators" is a concept in algebra that also applies to transcendental functions ..... and leads to universal "hierarchy of operations"

    why does the middle in 3:25 did not became a B even when there is two bars? and why did it became addition?

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  5 лет назад

      It does become a B watch some more to 4:35 ..... cause I am doing it in slow motion as I explain what is happening..... it becomes addition (actually OR operator) because that is what DeMorgan simplification is all about ...... changing AND to OR ...... or OR to AND.... every time you remove a bar that goes over an expression

  • @Dekar_00

    whats the step for 8:10 u just went so fast

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  4 года назад +1

      the official step is called "distributing multiplication over addition" (actually distributing AND over OR in boolean logic) ....... speaking loosely I call it "multiply out the brackets".... in any case ac(b+d)(e+f) = acbe + acbf + acde + acdf ..... best wishes 😊

    in 8:35 you have a strange expression. I have never seen the distribution property being used this way.
    The distribution property should have given you.
    (A'CA' + A'CB) (B'+C)
    then doing it again
    A'CA'B' + A'CA'C + A'CA'C + A'CBC
    Important step when teaching a video. Students might get confused, especially undergrads.

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  2 года назад

      Hey there.... thanks for your comment...
      "I have never seen the distribution property being used this way."..... such use is allowed in Boolean Algebra (where the set of symbols is restricted to zero and one) and I assure you there are textbooks that support it...... however I agree with you that students need to understand how to EXPAND as well as SIMPLIFY any algebraic expression 🙂

    Could you please solve this by demorgan's theorems A+BC'

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  4 года назад

      A+BC is already in its simplified form so there is nothing to "solve" (it cannot be simplified any further) ..... if you want the Truth Table (I have it in one of my videos) ..... there is 0 in the first 3 rows..... and then it is 1 for all the other rows.... if you need something else you can ask again and be more specific about what you are trying to do

    • @StephenMendes

      This becomes Y=A'AC+A'AB which means that Y=0 ...... which simply means that there is NO COMBINATION of ABC from 000 to 111 that will ever make Y a "1" ...... the presence of A and A' in the AND function means the output can never be a "1".... Y=0 permanently which is really not useful ... although it is the correct answer to your problem
