hello. i just have the urge to tell you that u are a rarity in terms of bts reaction channels because i can feel the authenticity in your words. you are very calm and collected with your commentary, you have landed every point and are asking the right questions. i hope u enjoy the journey in discovering more about them, u won’t regret it i promise. thanks for the wonderful reaction. keep it going 💜
Every kpop group releases Japanese versions of their albums because Japan is the 2nd biggest music market in the world (1st is US) much more bigger than China or any other asian country and if kpop groups wants to be successful in asia they need to secure Japan first also most korean idols know how to speak Japanese better than Chinese or English and since they’re neighboring countries there’s great interest for kpop groups in Japan so when they release a Japanese album it sells more than their korean albums for example in 2020 BTS’s MOTS:7(korean album) sold 455K copies in Japan but MOTS:7-The Journey(Japanese album) sold 658K copies and the korean album was released 6 months before the Japanese one. Some of the other kpop groups started to release English versions of their albums instead of Japanese these days but they don’t sell that well.. sadly not all the kpop groups can be successful in the west like BTS did but it’s easier to be successful in Asia and for that they definitely need to be successful in Japan. Hope this helps 💜 (sorry for any grammatical mistakes english is not my first language 😅)
Spot on about DYNAMITE. I feel the same. I wanted to tell everyone, "but that song doesn't define them" I loved it but, the rest of their work is just phenomenal.
Reasons BTS makes Japanese albums: 1) historic diplomatic and economic relationship between Japan and Korea; 2) Japan music industry revenue is much bigger than that of Korea. There has always been cultural exchange between Japan and Korea both in historic and modern times. Korean artists regularly promoted in Japan because the Japanese market is simply much much bigger. For reference, US music market (world biggest) is $11b USD, and Japan (2nd biggest) is $7b USD. Capturing a slither of Japan market share means big revenue for a Korean artist operating in a much smaller country. This is why Kpop always needed to expand beyond its borders to reach more audience, meanwhile Japan never did because its domestic market is big enough for consumption. This is also similar to how non-English artists releasing English music to break into US or UK markets.
Would you be so kind as to give me a source for the $7b number for Japan? I've been searching for concrete numbers and haven't found this one. The most I found was a second-hand reference that placed the 2018 value of Japanese music market at $2.7b.
@@carmencrespo5704 I got this from soundcharts.com/blog/japan-music-market-overview Many revenue numbers don’t count live concert for some reason, so their numbers are lower. I find the $7b number (2017) most accurate which consists of recording, publishing, and live music. The smaller revenue numbers usually only count physical and digital music revenue.
@@Bonusdoc Thank you for the source. I'm trying to do research on music sales and streams. I did find sources for the $11b for US market, but they didn't include live revenues. Off to do some math...
42:53 I was worried about the same thing before. Seeing how big they are and how bigger they are going to be, it’s quit happy and terrifying at the same time. But after I heard Suga said when they were starting to boom in 2018 that he felt happy and scared at the same time that he ended up crying in the bathroom. ‘No one told me getting high is terrifying.’ Interlude-Suga 2019. And V said that they were afraid of how high they went, what if we fail? Finally, he said that getting scared didn’t help anything. They would just enjoy things they love and continue improving themselves. They know that they have ARMYs behind their back eventually. ‘Fame is something we borrow from others, and when the times come we have to give it back.’-RM. They have overcome that fear so I decided to let go of that fear as well :) 💜 Sorry, I’n not good in English.
I too was under a rock until “boy with love”. I thought who are these guys and why a they sooooo popular? I watched them perform with Halsey at the billboard awards and was impressed. I then went down the rabbit hole and watched countless videos and react videos becoming a fan at 47 years young. They are such good people and their struggle to get to where they are today makes me root for them even more. Their message is so positive. Their videos are so creative and filled with positivity. They’ve helped so many people get through tough times. I’m so glad I gave them a chance. Their music is by far more superior to most American music. Their lyrics are deep. Their diss tracks tear up their haters while being respectful. Their personalities crack me up. Amazing stuff. V is my bias. He is a triple threat. Can sing, can dance, and can act. Dude cracks me up. Good stuff.
Hi, Jason. Thanks for sharing your story. Enjoyed reading it. And V may be a quintuple threat after all - he seems to rap well too (for e.g. outro: circle room cypher and his performance of Cypher 2 or 3) and with his mixtape, we may see composer/producer V too. Have a nice day!
I love how you think things thoroughly before speaking and how you really tried to find the right words to say! I find it lovely how you covered your eyes to avoid spoilers. I really enjoyed your reactions! Keep going!
The only thing in this video I have a problem with is when he talks about Jimin he makes it sound like Jimin didn't have any difficultly but that's not true. Jimin had very little experience in singing at the beginning and several times before they debuted he was nearly kicked out of the group. It is believed this is because of his different dancing style , as he'd done contemporary and popping & locking which is different to what they did on stage. Although I also believe it was partially to do with his shorter training period. So it's safe to say all 7 of them had things to overcome when they started out which makes there journey even more amazing and I believe you're right it was fate.
you're right about the singing part but not about the dance style thing. Pretty sure jimin was already doing hiphop style as well before bts as seen from some competition footages and stuff. he was really good there already. link for example : ruclips.net/video/0gjVBmdIYF0/видео.html
@@ashonline77 Yeah that's the popping and locking I was referencing this is a very specialised type of dance which is within Hip Hop but doesn't cover the whole genre, which you're right he is great at it. To do Hip Hop the way Hobi does you have to use different muscles again, don't get me wrong Jimin obviously adapts really well but it would still have been quite difficult for him. There also the fact we don't know if he stopped doing popping and locking while he was studying contemporary which could also have effected his dance style at the time. 💜
@@tasha5768 ah of course i knew that it was a sub genre of hiphop. this is actually my bad. for some reason when i read your comment, my brain decided to read it something along the lines of " he learned contemporary so popping and locking was something he wasn't familiar with" sorry for the misunderstanding and wasting your time T_T 💜
Yes, to add to what this guy said created their longevity....their characters, for sure. The way they live their lives. And, their ability to connect with their fans on such a personal level...their willingness to be vulnerable, and their code of whatever you want to call it...morality...that keeps them humble and grateful. Also, let's give credit where due....Bang PD (and the entire BigHit staff) has set an incredibly high precedent with the way he put these guys together and the way he "brought them along". I think he must be an incredible person.
to be completely honest, you are hands down my favorite reactor on here. I love your commentary throughout the videos bc you share your thoughts and keep such an open mind about everything. love it! 💗
I also wish that theyll not cave to the pressure the industry and everyone around them expects of them. In an interview, RM talks about how pressured they were and the fear BTS felt if they fell out of love with music, so he channeled those thoughts into BLACK SWAN and i tell you it is pure art. 💜💜
It does seem like their success was overnight to those of us that were not familiar with them until last year, BTS found me during this covid pandemic with Dynamite at the VMA's. I found them cute and charming, their choreo and their energy, how they seemed to love performing even without an audience was enough to intrigue me into looking up their songs on RUclips. I had no idea then how deep the BTS rabbit hole was, lol. I have read that RM is conflicted that their biggest hit to date was not written or produced by them and is not in korean, but in english. The song was supposed to be a gift, fun and uplifting to help us through the tough times caused by covid and it worked too well. I am also always impressed by how at all the recent award ceremonies they keep saying they'll keep improving, they'll make better songs, put on better stages, etc., the sky is the limit for them! Have a nice weekend, thanks for the reaction 💜💜💜
18:52 as far as I know, most of k-pop group do that since Japan is one of the most largest music markets for k-pop (China and Japan, thanks to the senior groups k-pop makes a way to have it’s place in these markets). These two market are most of k-pop groups’ first target.(Big and have high affordability) And as you know, Japanese are quite preserve. They don’t listen songs which have other languages and don’t even listen songs from other countries that much. That’s why they have to make a Japanese version to hit the chart. Even their concerts there, they do sing in Japanese and also have special Japanese songs during concert for J-ARMYs too. I know it’s quit interesting that they don’t to this to hit U.S. chart considering having the same case with Japan but I think BTS didn’t plan to promote in U.S. at first. And right now when they are finally boom in U.S., it’s also the time when they are proudly present their culture and language that they don’t have to change anything more just to please everyone and getting attention.(They still do some wonderful Japanese songs and I love it.) They have come so far now, and ARMYs love and are ready to understand what they are standing for through their songs. P.S. U.S., Japan, Indonesia and India(the newie one) and BTS’s biggest ARMY forces🤣🤣💜💜
I think they also made to the top because they consider them self's family and use there ties as they to conker there troubles with each other . And sticking together. As well love there Armys
The reason why BTS is different is because they started promoting themselves through social media, showing the human side of the artist and business and that attracts and retain more fans.
In Korea, legally, adult men must go to the military after the age of 20. If he goes to school or has personal reasons, he can postpone it up to 28 years old. The Korean National Assembly revised the law for BTS' Seokjin, increasing the standard for extension to 30.
people always underestimate bts' global popularity back when they were rookies but although they didnt make much noise in korea at the time they were making appearances on the international billboard charts regularly from 2014/2015 onwards.
I agree with pretty much everything you said in this video, heh. I think they have been under a great deal of strain and many of them have in fact straight out said that. I mean, look at Jin who indicated he's been struggling with imposter syndrome over their success. =/ And RM posted a video in RUclips a couple of months ago just kind of talking through his thoughts out loud and he flat out said that his feelings towards Dynamite's success is 'mixed' and that he has always said that music transcends language, but he has to admit he's come to doubt that sometimes. And yeah, I think their success is rooted in their genuine, honest openness about their selves and the fact that they write about real things and real human experiences, and that their music expresses meaningful values and ideas.
I still do think that music transcends language, though. Look at all the international fans that were already Army before the release of Dynamit (I know I'm not one of them, but the song that brought me to BTS was actually 'Life Goes On'). I hope RM doesn't doubt that too much just because of the extreme success of Dynamite.
The conscription in Korea is a range from 18 to 28, where 28 is the last year in which you have to serve, you can choose to serve before you're 28. However, Korea did recently pass the BTS law to give exemptions or deferment to popular idols, which previously didn't exist. Classical musicians such as pianists and violinists were exempt from military service but idols weren't as pop music was deemed to not really have a cultural contribution in the past. On why they'd release Japanese songs. Japan is a big market for music and kpop. Also, it's easier to translate a song from Korean to Japanese rather than other languages, as the grammatical structures are similar and the fact that a lot of words from both languages are derived from Chinese and they have similar phonologies.
I love this documentary too. As a school librarian, I realize how what you choose to include and leave out can really affect how accurate it is, but for a half hour doc, I think it does really well. And right now there is the deep dive documentary in the making. TheRiseOfBangtanOfficial YT channel has released the first 5 parts of theirs and I think they're only up to 2014. I am loving it! I have seen a lot of BTS material, but they have come up with things I had never even heard references to.
I recently watched a Vlog JK did in 2014 where is said he hoped that someday day they'd be the kind of group that other groups could look up to and want to emulate. #-_-# I just laughed and shook my head.
This was such a great video! I hadn’t watched the documentary before, so thank you so much, I finally got to watch it! I agree with you on so many points. While Dynamite was great (my first group comeback I experienced, after Agust D’s D-2), I think it is a bit sad that it took an English song for people to acknowledge them. It shows some kind of ignorance towards other cultures and languages. But I’m so happy for BTS, to get the recognition they deserve, I’m devastated that it took Corona for me to finally get hooked, after discovering them in 2016. I’m just glad that these boys stayed true to themselves and I wish them all the best in the world! I hope that they will always enjoy what they’re doing, that the pressure of the public won’t damage them, as I’ve seen it with my favourite girl group from the UK, Little Mix.
For me watching this documentary that makes a summary of their carier is very meaningful because I was there since the beginning, when i was 10 i discover k pop watching a k drama that pop out in my RUclips page and 3 years after when i was 3 and pretty much into k pop following the grups that where popular at that time BTS debut , their debut was also the year I started high school , my high school experience started awfully but that also make me closer with bts since their first trilogy was school releted , as thing's were getting harder for me I was growing up with their music evolution and messeges , at the time I couldn't watch me in the mirror i had them starting to tell everyone about self love , now that i will make 20 this year and 10 years with k pop this kind of recaps make me super emotional but is nice to see this with a super cool reactor like you . Thanks again
Personally I don’t think they changed but it’s the progress of their concept, BTS don’t follow trends musically but they make music suitable for the storytelling and the album concept. You will realise they have a happy tune in some albums and dark tunes in another album
I’m glad you reacted to this 💜 It’s very informative. Don’t be too hard on yourself for thinking that you lived under a rock 😊 cause how could you have heard of BTS when they previously didn’t get radio air time or didn’t really get any promotion around Europe 😒but I’m happy to see that has changed a bit 🙏
Has promotion changed in Europe? I'll be honest where I am I still see very little. It wasn't until after I found BTS in august (on YT) that I noticed anything to do with them. I've only heard Dynamite on the radio a few times and in the Samsung advert but I heard nothing of Life goes on which is sad because it's such a meaningful song. I think a lot of people in Europe still haven't heard of BTS at all. 💜
@@tasha5768 yeah I might have been to generous with statement. It was primarily towards Dynamite, which hasn’t even gotten that much attention and radio air play in my country 😒 Anyways we can pray and hope that changes in the future 🙏💜
@@mcmowgli07 I hope things change as well, I think the biggest problem is the radio and TV channels in Europe they really do neglect BTS and the fans. I know here people kept asking them to play Life goes on and the radio channels just ignored them, I really hope they get other themselves soon. I really wish for everyone to hear BTS's message! 💜
@@tasha5768 that’s true. I wrote the local radio station once and asked how come they are not playing THE biggest artist in the world again beside Dynamite. They replied that it’s the language barrier and all the usual bs. So I kind of went on a rant. I told them that brings us back to the whole despacito issue. Not all of Europe understand or speak Spanish. I must admit till this day I don’t even know what the song is about. I still haven’t received an answer
@@mcmowgli07 yeah it's really sad I wish they weren't so narrow minded. You can appreciate a song even if you don't know what they're say. I do always look at the translations for BTS because their word always mean so much. I honestly feel like language isn't a barrier in the world we now live in people just use it as an excuse. All we can hope is that they open their eyes to the truth soon. 💜
The KCON performances from 2014 are absolutel fire! They are on RUclips and I highly recommend them to watch. I was not expecting them to be THAT good. They killed that stage!
Your talk of fate/kismet/serendipity re: how they became a group is actually represented in their single for their BTS World game soundtrack, called "Heartbeat" It's sort of an "alternate universe" (but not the BTU) game, and the video shows them all in an AU where this "fate" comes into play. You should watch that MV, I think you would really like the premise.
In re: why not call it a great song instead of a great kpop song? Well today, I think we made one step forward with that. Esquire named them as one of the Top 10 Pop Bands of All Time. With The Beatles, The Supremes, Queen.
Love this documentary and your detailed honest reactions! You know, I always find one fault in all of these documentaries about Jin - because they say “oh he was found on the street because of his looks” but he was in university for theater. Big hit is very strategic -yes they may have stopped to talk to him but outside a university. I feel once they realized he was an actor, that fit the vision they had for this group I believe they knew they needed him. They would make him a singer and dancer because he was already strong in acting and they had a storyline planned.
I love Dynamite but I really missed them singing in Korean. It's not BTS without the Korean. I'm Welsh and Welsh speakers throw in English words amongst the Welsh. I love hearing the English words popping up and find it so much fun to try to learn the Korean that surrounds them.
About the Japanese albums and songs, Korea and Japan are practically next to each other, with their languages being quite similar sounding, their entertainment industries, especially the music industry, often overlap Japan and Korea have had many conflicts, wars, trades and interactions in the past, making their citizens always aware of the other country, and as modern days come, they influence each other a lot in terms of broadcasts, movies and music That is why it is common for kpop labels to also target the Japan market while promoting in Korea, and since Japanese and Korean pronunciations are not that far apart, kpop groups often releases Japanese songs/versions of their songs
35:05 Yeah, I know right.☺️ Dynamite used to be a single song(not the title songs for the albums that people will keep their eyes on) before BTS put it in Be album. It supposed to be the cheering song for ARMYs during covid-19 time too.
i also recommend bby gang's documentaries. either to react to or just to watch for yourself. they give an interesting insight into bts' relation to kpop (and how they deviate from the genre/industry) amongst other topics. They are made by an army who is a journalist
35:00 I agree with you. That's why I like BE album. I honestly think dynamite has a more familiar sound with American pop music. But it is to comfort and entertain fans around the world who are having a hard time. Even though they already tasted the success formula, BE album didn't change the message and music they wanted to say. Whether it's old school bts or new school bts, their sincerity doesn't change. English is not my first language, so it could be awkward. I'm sorry!😢
I think they have had some struggles with the pressure of being as successful as they are. You should watch their acceptance speeches for artist of the year at mama 2016 and 2018. I think however that they have a good support system and they’re very lucky to have each other as well. Also when you have time you should listen to their Japanese song Lights. It’s one of their newer songs and has a MV

The Japanese music industry is a relatively big industry and most Kpop groups chose to promote there after debuting because the American music industry, though being bigger, is too challenging for them. So I believe bighit followed the tradition and guide bts to produce songs and albums in Japanese
@You and Me. I enjoy your intelligent reactions to BTS. I totally agree with you regarding Dynamite. BTS chose to sing this song to give ARMY and the world a happy uplifting song during the very depressing time of Covid-19. Since they had not written or produced this song, it didn't have that "BTS-ish" sound (which is hard to define). It's a sad commentary of the western music industry that this was the song which the recording academy chosen for BTS Grammy consideration. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled they got the Grammy nod, but they had so many more amazing songs they had wrote, produced and performed in 2020 such as Black Swan etc. Oh well, I was extremely happy that in the BE album, BTS went back to their "roots" (with the exception of Dynamite). BTS and Big Hit are extremely intelligent in understanding the music trends and allow themselves to grow their own individual musical styles. Keep up the great reactions! Warmest Regards from California!
PLEASE react to the mistreatment of BTS by affectaed itll give some key information that not many channels have. i love this video by asian theory but there are some flaws like how he mentioned YG in the beginning which confuses new people getting into bts. YG and BIGHIT are two different companies with two different ceos and the kpop industry BARELY had any hand in bts success. regardless of small details they dont add to bts story but they do give people a chance to link their success to people who were the reason for a lot of their struggles. which were the big 3 companies and to a extent they still try to hurt bts with their media power. anyways please react to it :)
Japan is a large market for music, so many Asian artists do Japanese versions. There is at least one song in Chinese, and their pronunciation is ok, but they sound best in their own language.
I was waiting for this video, I loved it, I was yelling at the screen so you don't spoil it because I want to see your reactions to those videos. Sorry if I don't have the correct grammar it's not my language. ♥♥♥♥
You should really watch their interview from the GRAMMY Museum where they explain their concepts for music and albums in detail. It will give you a good insight into their creative process.
JK moved out of his home at only 14, which is why the members always joke that they 'raised him'. As trainees, they all left their homes/hometowns and moved to Seoul to stay in a dorm together, and the younger ones went to school together while training. So JK was literally still a child when he was living with the other guys in a different city from his parents. Jin would even drive him to school in the mornings and buy him food. =)
Hey, this was my first time watching your reaction video and I loved it. You were totally right about that Dynamite thing. BTS has other songs that are much much better than Dynamite but the western music industry is so xenophobic that it wouldn't give a chance to foreign language songs.
About military service and BTS..I personally feel that BTS has already done so so much for their country, and for the youth of the world, that they should be exempted from the mandatory military service.
Thank you so much for reacting! I really love all the things you said specifically about dynamite winning their billboard hot 100, I definitely agree with you that they don't need to speak or sing in English to top those charts. If speaking or singing in English language wasn't a requirement to top billboard or to win American Music Awards they don't need to do it because singing in their native language is so much different and it really shows who they are as an artist. I really appreciate your reaction videos, borahae!
18:34 Japan is the second largest music market in the world (first is the US) and physical albums sell very well there. Korean cultural exports such as dramas, movies, music, and food have been especially popular in Japan throughout the past few decades, resulting in the term "Korean wave" (韓流). I think creating original songs gives JP fans more of a reason to buy JP albums. They're special in a way since they're not for the domestic KR market. Much like how Dynamite is special to us westerners.
Korea has a history with Japan. altough they are not so keen on each other politically. the cultures are very similar. that makes japan as one of the first foreign countries to promote musically. Also the Japanese music market is known for being closed up and does not welcome external influence... korean acts find themselves in a situation where if they want to promote in that market successfully it has to be in japanese.
The biggest music market in the world is the United States and Japan. Since Japan market was already open to Korean artists compared to the US market lot of Kpop artists produce Japanese albums. Korean market alone will not support the entertainment company so they have to find marketing revenue elsewhere. Back in the early 2010 Korean music was not that well known in the world so the competition for the market within Korea was really fierce. I really enjoy watching your reactions. It brings to mind how I was when I first discovered BTS in 2017.
I believe idol/kpop groups create japanese versions/orig japanese tracks cause korea borrow the idol training in japan. So they in return, create albums in japanese to return the idea for idol training that they borrowed. Correct me if I'm wrong guys☺️
Agree. As an Asian,I also believe Japan and Korea have similar cultural background,so kpop outfits, music style are more acceptable for Japanese. Besides, jpop idols are more "domestic" comparing to kpop, while Japan is one of the eight biggest music markets in the world,no wonder many kpop idols make Japanese tracks to enter this potential market.(sorry if I made any grammar mistakes😂)
Another fact is that evn in 2015 bts was having “first kpop act” names attributed to them, but this was all swept under the rug by the kpop industry and kmedia. BTS ad complete media silence evn during 2017. A known korean critic came forward saying “After BTS grammy nomination the media that contacted him wanted to sweep it under, making it look like not significant” he was so mad and ranted abt it in a talk show abt how while artists from other co got more reception for doing lesser things than BTS. This is also same for the western media, the reception abt BTS were so different despite their success and selling evn western artists over and over again
One month late but still, as much as I love BTS and Dynamite^ but you are absolutely right! Dynamite was a very smart choice to get higher and even bigger and it worked, what they absolutely deserve! Maybe thats why all other songs on their last album BE are completely BTS songs! Like Life Goes On for example))) And all other songs boys created themselves.
OMG I had the same feeling with yours on dynamite when it was released!! Cuz I'm korean, I even felt little bit awkward with a dynamite which in English so I didn't really care about the song even though It sounded goodXD. But later I thought about it and decided to say that last year was tough year with corona and people actually suffered with it. So maybe BTS wanted to cheer us up with punky disco song and that's why It's written in English to be related easily to worldwide.
How BTS started (in terms of singing and dancing) RM - started as underground rapper (no experience as dancer) Jin - study in college in acting (no experience in dancing/ singing) Suga - started as underground rapper ( no experience in dancing) J-Hope - started as street dancer ( no experience in rap/singing) Jimin - started as contemporary dancer ( no experience in singing) V - play saxophone ( no experience in dancing/ singing) Jungkook - started as singer (no experience in dancing)
I recently rediscovered BTS a few years back and have been fully enveloped into the world of BTS and ARMY and I have loved every second of it! Concerning Dynamite I love the song but it barely scratches the surface with BTS and it rubs me the wrong way when they were nominated with that song for the Grammy's and then to not even recieve the award for such a ground breaking song that broke so many records and went to number one on the charts and stayed number one until Savage love came out and continues to be up high on the charts to this day since it's release i just don't understand how they didn't win their category and the individuals who did although I am happy they won I just don't see how that song should have won and that performance in particualr was not it if the grammy's wanted to send the right message they should have gone a different route in my opinion but then again I'm biased but still... Anyways I love your videos your responses are always so thoughtful and you seem to really pay atention to what's in front of you!
Hi, I am back. Korea did recently change the rules. You have to go when your 30 or before. And they shortened it instead of 2 yrs u do 18 months. Army believes its due to BTS but no one is saying anything. BTS has said they are proud to serve their country. But Army has no clue what that will look like when the time comes. Jin is 28 now yes and he is 29 in Korean age. Nice reaction. I liked this video too. Life Goes On was #1 on Billboards the 1st Korean song ever. BTS are Kings! Sorry that u got spoiled but at least u saw parts not the whole thing, and hopefully will forget what u saw. hehe. =0p I agree it is FATE! FYI BE album is not part of a trilogy. It was created due to pandemic. So it's a one off. They will continue their story in another album. And have you heard they releasing new album in Feb. BE essential edition. We may get new song(s).!!! ty. stay safe. -baby ARMY NY USA 💜
you're right that you've to serve in the military by 28 previously. however korean age works differently than international age. Koreans when they are born is considered 1 year old and instead of adding 1 year to your age on your birthday, they add 1 year on every new years. So jin was 28 last year and on 1st of jan 2021 he turned 29 in korean age and not on his birthday in december just for the clarification. thankfully the bts law was passed before that and he can wait upto 2 years before he needs to serve. i hope that clears things up.
@@YouandMe14 I'm sorry it seems like I misinformed you. After I asked a Korean friend to double check I learned that the enlistment itself is based on the international age so he will need to enlist before he turns 30 on his birthday. However people do use Korean age to say I've to enlist at 30 as well. It's just not as accurate since he'll still be 30 after his birthday till the end of the year but he'll have to enlist before his birthday. Really sorry lol. But hey on the bright side I taught you about the Korean age system right? Unless you knew that anyway 🥺
Are you me? I swear your reactions are so similar to mine you are now my favorite reactioner! Although Ive been aware of BTS for some time....I was really not a fan until after their mtv unplugged appearance. After watching Fix You I decided to go beyond the BTS essentials playlist and listen to their whole album! I started with BE then decided to go from the beginning and listened to their whole discography! I didn’t care that I didn’t understand their music or I wasn’t into rap....I was amazed at their musicality! Then I watched this video and a video introducing all 7 and I was totally hooked! Now I’m a fan catching up on BU universe...just finished watching all 4 season of Bon Voyage and about to start on old Run BTS episodes! I love watching your reactions Cos I feel you are discovering them with me! Keep your videos coming and your covers as well! Thanks from this baby Army!
Japanese markets are really huge and important for korean bands usually, and the language is easier for them to learn too i guess, so you can see lot of kpop grps focusing on japanese markets. BTS funnily wasnt evn thinking of them conquering the west😂 So they didnt actually have any special promo for the US until they won their first billboard award in 2017. Its crazy how none of these were pre planned. Becs tons of kpop grps have tried hard to expand in US and failed to make it.
Japan is always the main market for K-pop, most of K-pop group produce Japanese songs, albums and fan meetings for the JP market. Idols even need to learn Japanese as a part of their training. Actually, BTS's live performances held in JP has better quality or more special set up, highly recommend you to check them out. Fun fact, you may notice they also have their mv, even outfit, makeup, hairstyle made especially for JP market which was different from their appearance in Korean and other markets.
If you wanna kinda get a sense of the K-Pop world as a whole-and how BTS fits within its history-I suggest watching/reacting to this DKDKTV video called "KPOP HISTORY in 20mins" ( ruclips.net/video/kPS4tCHT6SA/видео.html ), which gives a concise overview of how the K-Pop industry came to be! It's quite comprehensive, considering that it's not crazy long (like a full-length documentary). ☺️ I hope you'll check it out... if you want, of course! BTS' impact is truly huge-monumental, really-and it's just so lovely to hear it be stated so outright! 💜🙌🏼
Please can you react to Blue & Gray? I a beautifull song. I'm so proud of how you're keeping falling in admiration and love with BTS and their story, great reaction.
About the Japanese verisions, it's quite common in K-pop, reason is Japan is the second biggest music market in the wolrd and it's more welcoming towards Asian artists.
Another fan made documentary that I think you would love as much as this one is a popular one made last year. It is called "Who Is BTS" by Suga and Spice. That documentary gives you an overall view of each members personalities and organizes your thoughts and views of them. You come to better understand why you are so drawn to BTS after watching that video.😇
While this video is really thorough in some ways, I think for the sake of time and in some instances for dramatic effect, there are some inaccuracies or misrepresentations. For example, Jimin was definitely not the 'capstone' member. He barely made it into the group because he was picked up as a trainee at such a late stage compared to the others. Furthermore, he really skims over the fact that they were initially going to be a hip-hop group and the original plan actually changed. The *original* line-up had only rappers and they really did not intend to include a lot of dance. When Bang PD decided to shift the direction of the group and plan to debut it as a kpop idol group instead, some of the people in the original line up (such as Supreme Boi) dropped out (Supreme Boi stayed with BigHit as a producer but dropped from the group). RM and Suga had to make the decision to stay and debut as kpop idols when they had originally planned to be hip-hop artists. When that shift was made and they started adding members for looks and vocals, that is likely when they also decided to put more emphasis on dancing per the more typical kpop idol performance. Suga has actively joked in the past that Hitman Bang lied to him and told him he wouldn't have to dance, but it is really more of a joke than meant literally ... I have no doubt he was originally told there would be no dancing, but that is because that was in fact the original plan. It was less a 'lie' and more a 'change of plans', heh.
If you are interested in Japanese BTS song, I would reccomend you "Crystal Snow". This song is a one of original Japanese songs. I'm looking forward to listening your cover song of this!!
I completely agree!!! Don’t get me wrong I loveeee dynamite it’s amazing and I streamed it for weeks, but it’s annoying that the first time they get #1 on billboard was for an English song that doesn’t even show them at their maximum capacity because for example yoongi and hobi couldn’t even show off their amazing rapping since it was English 😪🥺 still just happy that they got #1 because it was long over due
So as u said why call it one of the k pop greatest songs ever well because as u know it changed BTS,bighit, and the k pop industry "life's". Yes there was and is amazing k pop groups known internationally, but BTS paved the way/opened the doors for the k pop industry and those not very known groups/companies to go further on internationally. and thanks to the recognization that BTS had, they r one of korea most important people/group because not just k pop but korean culture was spread further more internationally which attracted people to korea which made south korea gain so many visits which is important for them and they've grateful for all of that . I have more to say yet don't know how to put it into words but that is all I could think of i just hope u have an idea of why it is one of the greatest songs. Stay safe and healthy have a good day 😄😄☺️☺️💜💜
hello. i just have the urge to tell you that u are a rarity in terms of bts reaction channels because i can feel the authenticity in your words. you are very calm and collected with your commentary, you have landed every point and are asking the right questions. i hope u enjoy the journey in discovering more about them, u won’t regret it i promise. thanks for the wonderful reaction. keep it going 💜
Thank you! 💜
hardwork, passion, musicality, top notch lyricism and genuinely great characters and more is what makes BTS the best in the world!!!
@@carmencrespo5704 I got this from soundcharts.com/blog/japan-music-market-overview
Many revenue numbers don’t count live concert for some reason, so their numbers are lower.
Wow, I had no idea Japan's music market was so big!
I study Japanese Studies and I had no idea Japan's music market was the second biggest after the US... 😳
They have overcome that fear so I decided to let go of that fear as well :) 💜
Sorry, I’n not good in English.
@@ashonline77 It's no problem 💜 have a great day!
yeah Jimin got almost kicked out 8 times. He had it really rough. I think this affected him mentally in the early years.
Life goes on also hit #1 on the hot 100, and that was a Korean language song.
to be completely honest, you are hands down my favorite reactor on here.
Be careful for the Japanese songs/mvs, they often got blocked/striked by yt. So i think u have to check them on your own.
Yes that is because they have a different label fo their Japanese releases.
Thanks for the advice!
@@YouandMe14 u can watch the video link it but not show it. We can just hear the music. And watch on our own the vid. That's an idea.
@@YouandMe14 I think they just have to think it through Feel what they feel and trust their gut.
Japan is also the worlds 4th biggest music market after USA, UK, france.
Oh wow, sounds expansive and very detailed. I'll have to check it out.
Aww hugs. That is a lovely story ty for sharing. -baby ARMY NY USA 💜
Personally I don’t think they changed but it’s the progress of their concept, BTS don’t follow trends musically but they make music suitable for the storytelling and the album concept. You will realise they have a happy tune in some albums and dark tunes in another album
Really shows how much of an impact RM has/had on BTS. He really holds the team together.
It was primarily towards Dynamite, which hasn’t even gotten that much attention and radio air play in my country 😒
Anyways we can pray and hope that changes in the future 🙏💜
And remember this, they were just from a small, SMALL company to do that
Love this documentary and your detailed honest reactions!
Thank you Hanna. I come to know and understand BTS more by this video and your comment. ty
I love Dynamite but I really missed them singing in Korean. It's not BTS without the Korean. I'm Welsh and Welsh speakers throw in English words amongst the Welsh. I love hearing the English words popping up and find it so much fun to try to learn the Korean that surrounds them.
About the Japanese albums and songs, Korea and Japan are practically next to each other, with their languages being quite similar sounding, their entertainment industries, especially the music industry, often overlap
Japan and Korea have had many conflicts, wars, trades and interactions in the past, making their citizens always aware of the other country, and as modern days come, they influence each other a lot in terms of broadcasts, movies and music
That is why it is common for kpop labels to also target the Japan market while promoting in Korea, and since Japanese and Korean pronunciations are not that far apart, kpop groups often releases Japanese songs/versions of their songs
35:05 Yeah, I know right.☺️ Dynamite used to be a single song(not the title songs for the albums that people will keep their eyes on) before BTS put it in Be album. It supposed to be the cheering song for ARMYs during covid-19 time too.
It makes me nostalgic.. Getting to know this group is such a bless ..
I’m looking forward to your BU journey .. 💕💕💕
Love this documentary of BTS💜💜💜💜
i also recommend bby gang's documentaries. either to react to or just to watch for yourself. they give an interesting insight into bts' relation to kpop (and how they deviate from the genre/industry) amongst other topics. They are made by an army who is a journalist
Everything you said,Yessss💜
Finally reacted to this video 😊❤️❤️ I was waiting for your reaction to this🙏 . Loved your reaction and keep uploading.💪
I'm sorry!😢
Not awkward at all, your English is great!
ur Eng is fine.
Love your reaction!! You are on point on all of their performance !

The Japanese music industry is a relatively big industry and most Kpop groups chose to promote there after debuting because the American music industry, though being bigger, is too challenging for them. So I believe bighit followed the tradition and guide bts to produce songs and albums in Japanese
Im praying for them to win a grammy award on March.
Fingers crossed!
This video literally made my day
Yayyyyy, this is what I was talking about!! So excited to see your reaction!
PLEASE react to the mistreatment of BTS by affectaed
itll give some key information that not many channels have. i love this video by asian theory but there are some flaws like how he mentioned YG in the beginning which confuses new people getting into bts.
Wow, Jin must be like a mix between brother, uncle and father figure to JK then, I would imagine. 14 is so young to move out from home...
yay i've been waiting for this reaction! Thank you!!!
You should watch BTS's old day's music MV and dance practice~bapsae so.on~.
25:03 so cute ^^
18:34 Japan is the second largest music market in the world (first is the US) and physical albums sell very well there. Korean cultural exports such as dramas, movies, music, and food have been especially popular in Japan throughout the past few decades, resulting in the term "Korean wave" (韓流). I think creating original songs gives JP fans more of a reason to buy JP albums. They're special in a way since they're not for the domestic KR market. Much like how Dynamite is special to us westerners.
Please React to Bts Not Today @speakyourself the Final in Seoul Performance 💜💜✌
Yeah that performance always hits different 🤤💯
@@navneetk5665 Right 💜✌
Korea has a history with Japan. altough they are not so keen on each other politically. the cultures are very similar. that makes japan as one of the first foreign countries to promote musically.
BTS~~~🧲💜
Yes. To everything you said about the American music industry and it's issues.
Your comment on hoping that BTS stays true to themselves. That is the basis of their song Black Swan. Great reaction!
25:02 cute!! 😆😆
나중에 피,땀,눈물 reaction 꼭 ~~
How BTS started (in terms of singing and dancing)
RM - started as underground rapper (no experience as dancer)
Jin - study in college in acting (no experience in dancing/ singing)
Suga - started as underground rapper ( no experience in dancing)
J-Hope - started as street dancer ( no experience in rap/singing)
Jimin - started as contemporary dancer ( no experience in singing)
V - play saxophone ( no experience in dancing/ singing)
Jungkook - started as singer (no experience in dancing)
She starts talking & we are waiting that she say some thing with that deep thinking after a pause & a pause
to explain a little bit they usually make the original japanese songs to promote a movie, series or commercial.
I liked how you cover your eyes during Blood Sweat & Tears !! Cuteee♥
Oh wow... so does that mean he will have to serve latest beginning of 2022 (because that's when he'll turn 30 in Korean age?)
Seems like you're going at a fast pace with catching up with all that content! Happy you're here and happy to share this experience with you! 💜
You need to watch from nobody’s to legends, it’s more in-depth and talks about the hardships they went through, and how badly they were treated.
Hey you! I'm sorry, I've already listened to the whole 'Be' album. ☹️ Blue & Grey was actually my favourite song from the album. So beautiful!
About album series, as Namjoon said Pang PD just loves trilogies haha
About the Japanese verisions, it's quite common in K-pop, reason is Japan is the second biggest music market in the wolrd and it's more welcoming towards Asian artists.
Another fan made documentary that I think you would love as much as this one is a popular one made last year. It is called "Who Is BTS" by Suga and Spice. That documentary gives you an overall view of each members personalities and organizes your thoughts and views of them. You come to better understand why you are so drawn to BTS after watching that video.😇
Yess..it was fate! 💜💜💜
Please React to Bts not today @speakyourself the Final in Seoul Performance video 💜❤💜✌✌🤗🤗

I would also recommend who are bts, the seven members of bangtang or a meme filled Guide as an introduction
Avoid the BTS "Crash Course" videos. It shows clips of every video - many reactors have complained about the spoilers.
