Take your time and focus on you and the baby :) don't turn away help if it is offered and remember that baby blues are completely normal and that different people feel different things after pregnancy :) Love that little baby and don't worry about us until you have a routine and are ready to come back. Congrats again!! You'll love it. Oh and when your baby is going through something hard like not sleeping much etc...just remember over and over in your head that everything is just a phase. That helped me get through many months of sleepless nights.

Yes it is common but not everybody gets them. Some get it worser than others but it will go away eventually. Especially if you just let it all out and talk about it with you spouse or family etc. anyone you trust really.

It's very common in Japan to wear those masks to prevent other people from getting sick, however, in this case it might be because they don't want to get sick themselves or their daughter is fragile. She's probably only about 6lbs and that's very tiny.

After I had my daughter 10 years ago, I was in my hospital room having breakfast, as she went to the nursery to take a bath before coming home. I sat down to eat and I felt like I had a a hole in my soul, even sadder than when I lost my parents and I wanted to cry so bad. But I was quick enough to identify that feeling. I took a very deep breath and told out loud to myself... You stop that right now. You have nothing to be sad about. And I kept repeating that I was alright and didn't want to be that sad. I shook it off had my breakfast and got ready to come home. I could've easily get into a serious depression, cause I had lost my parents 2 years prior she was born. And til this day I still feel day about this, but at the time I became strong enough to pull my act together and not let me drown in sadness.
Hormones are very powerful. I know personally that I get suicidal if I forget to take my birth control for a few days. But that may just because I have depression

I'm not saying I am the same I was before, I have my down moments too, but I still have the clarity to choose to get out at that particular moment. There are days I could just stay in bed and do nothing, but I have kids that depend on me.
I had postpartum anxiety and depression after the birth of my first daughter, I dealt with it fully after 2.5 years. With therapy and support from my husband, I was able to come out of it. With the birth of my second daughter this year, the postpartum came back but not as severe. Breastfeeding difficulties made it even more emotionally and physically painful to even go on each day.. but we has women are strong.. with a good support system around you, we persevere and go on. Every day is a new day.
Not only when they are sick, but also to avoid getting sick. Specially with a newborn baby, is best to prevent any sickness from the hospital while walking out or while walking in the city. When singers travel, they normally wear mask on airports for the same reason.... and about the baby, on her FB account she said she wouln't show her baby's face for safety reasons.
@bulmak actually this is wrong. i learned in my women's health class that a mother should be exposed to as many germs as possible in order to build up immunities to those germs and viruses and then pass those immunities on to the baby via the breast milk. i'm not saying she should start licking the floors or anything but the mask is unnecessary

the mask is because doctors and nurses say you're not supposed to breath on infants.
