German Vs Scherzer. A subway series to remember. This game lived up to the hype. Benintendi shows off his bat with those hits today. And judge with his 47th. And that Rizzo send back to 1st come on... Umps let him have it...
And the series lived up to its hype last series when the mets slapped the Yanks.
@Daniel Yankees slapped the Mets this week like Judge slapped that ball off of Scherzer, and they split this year overall. Mets are sweating now with the Braves one game behind in a worse division no less. Yankees have a comfy 7 and half game lead.

What a season for both teams. A month & a half ago, I don’t think anyone would’ve thought/said that the Mets would have a better record at the beginning of this series. Here we go Subway!

@@ilyakats54 I don’t blame him. From my pov, he needed more time to get comfortable in the clubhouse/surrounding environment. Him getting more consistent is a great showing of how he’s starting to warm up.

The Bronx Bombers have shaken off the slump. Just wait until Stanton’s in left, Bader’s in center and Judge is in right. The outfield will be a funnel. Sherbet was shocked out of his mind tonight. The slump is over, now go out and play like the team you really are.

You’re right!
Thats not a great outfield. Both Judge and Stanton are not the fastest guys and don’t cover a lot of ground. Judge also makes poor reads more often than others.

@@jpcoqueran yeah its been bad. The offense hasn’t produced, and injuries have been bad. 7 bullpen arms hurt this year, plus carpenter and Stanton getting injured.

Huge win. That is the first time the Yankees have won two straight in August and yet they remain in 1st place by 8 games. Pretty fortunate to be where they are right now.
Yankees may have won tonight but it had to really hurt watching Jordan Montgomery dominate for St. Louis again tonight, it was a bad trade when it was made and it just continues to look worse and worse each day.
Yeah I mean that’s one of those trades where it didn’t make any sense to me at all
It’s yet to be determined the impact that Bader will have but yeah it’s looking pretty bad right now

Happy for Montgomery but something that isn’t talked about much is how Jordan went over to a new league where very few batters have faced him. I think his success so far is based in part in that fact and his throwing to Molina whose career speaks for itself. I am sure in time Jordo will come back to the norm of a 3.50 ERA pitcher. Sad to see him go, you knew he would always give us a chance at a W. Wish him nothing but the best
I was really looking forward to seeing deGrom pitch against the Yankees in a make or break game for Montas. The Yanks are now 59-13 when they score 4+ runs. Wow!

You have Mets legends Keith Hernandez and David Cone (also perfect game with the Yankees) calling the game in separate booths tonight and the only audio is from the national feed. Missed opportunity.
Max Scherzer was looking very dominant following his return and all the arm rest but he's now given up four runs in six innings in his last two starts. Fatigue maybe setting in again.
It is. Glad someone else saw this. I started seeing this against the Braves, thinking he wasn't going to keep this up if the Mets keep letting him go 7 to 8 innings. If the Mets want to hold onto their lead in the NL East they need to start resting him more. I am a Braves fan so I'd like the team at their best when we face each other again.
Yup. He had issues with that late last season and in the playoffs. Him not pitching was part of the reason the Braves were able to win that series.
@@nathansmith3168 I honestly think the reason he was worried about starting game six against the Braves in last years NLCS was because it would have hurt his offseason contract negotiations possibly. Scherzer is one of the best ever but teams like the Braves often find ways to exploit good pitching and Max Scherzer has been one of their victims several times. The Astros are another team that does that and both are regulars in the postseason. The Mets should rest Scherzer like they are doing with DeGrom probably.
@@soulknife20 I think the Braves would've won it regardless though. The stuff they did to Urias would've been the same as if Scherzer had stayed in I believe. The baserunning of Rosario and Albies was insane during that inning they scored and tied game two. Without question that was one of the best postseason games in history for sure. Freeman was horrible for the Braves during the first two games also set an all time MLB record for consecutive strikeouts by a batter. I hope we get a rematch of the two again. Probably going to see the Yankees and Astros in the AL I believe.

No it is know that if your back tracking as an infielder and you both call it then you gotta leave it for the outfielder who is coming in towards the ball.

They aren't hampered by extremely cheap owners anymore which was really the only thing setting them back and all the pundits know it. So some fans feel the need to throw shade at fans who finally have something to cheer about after so many years of frustration. also theyre Yankee fans, super entitled because they picked a team that happens to have the most chips lol. is what it is.

The ball bounced over the wall so it’s considered a “ground rule double” or a “automatic double” I think it’s called now. Basically means all runners advance 2 bases. Sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes it doesnt

Yes the Braves are “way better “ the Mets. I will even take the Braves overall pitching than the Mets base on deGrom and Scherzer injury history . Also Mets hitting are not even close to the Braves young and explosive offense.
