"I accidentally did a frame-perfect counter." "Oh man, this is actually real." This was amazing. Probably the most impressive thing I've seen from AGDQ yet.
@@marioman821 Is this the same guy who did the Super Puncout blindfolded and beat the special circuit for only the second time in his life at a marathon?
When a room full of speed runners and blindfold gamers start treating this guy like an actual boxing champ, that's how you know he's special. The ice water that must be in this guy's veins... My hands get shakey trying not to spill while pouring coffee
I love how everyone in the back was invested in those fights. It was like watching a real boxing fight crowd. I was disappointed a donation total wasn't given for this run because he deserved high amounts for this one.
The amount of donations during each run are determined long after the marathon ends due to donations processing after the run is over, etc. I think you can maybe find something on the SDA forums.
Holy mother of God. I can only imagine the hours put in to memorize all the patterns, now all the sounds and right buttons to press and when to do it. Even when things were a bit rough, he kept his cool. 100/10 would watch again
I remember watching this live and it was literally an experience I'll never forget. This dude played it so well, freakin' BLINDFOLDED... Just wow. During his run, my palm started sweating, shaking my leg constantly and I don't remember blinking at all. When he completed it, I almost cried at the end during his speech, it was so touching. To the next AGDQ, I'll take some days as holdaiys from my work to watch every run.
I had a front row seat for this (just off camera to the left) and was half of the "raise zallard's arms in victory" crew at the end. It was an honor and a privilege to be there for it. Ranks among my personal best and favorite GDQ moments. Amazing stuff.
It seems a bit obvious to say since events like this would be where they all congregate, but after watching these marathons for a few years, I love being able to look through the audience and point out the faces of several other runners and speedrun community members as well. It gives the marathons an atmosphere that feels like much more than just "a crowd", but rather the community that they're all proud to say they're members of.
I've watched this several times, and I still can't believe this is real. This is the most amazing video game feat I have ever seen. Yes, man, this is real.
Zallard came out strong. There were many rough patches, but somewhere in the Rick Bruiser, he achieved perfect Punch-Out Zen. "Hey, uh, I accidentally got a frame perfect counter..."
I saw this live and this was my personal highlight of AGDQ. When that last punch hit, I stood up and sent my laptop flying. Also check out CGN's run of F-zero GX. My jaw was on the ground for most of that too.
I've probably watched this run 10 times at this point. You can just see all this hard work and training paying off. The humility of saying for the last 20 minutes of the run that "this next fight might kill the run". And just the swell of emotion on Zallard's face and in his voice as it becomes more and more clear that _this is actually happening._ I get choked up every time at the celebration at the end. It's a terrific, emotional run.
The change from knowing the times down to milliseconds to "this is actually real" is chilling, in the best way possible. I always forget I've seen this before, and I always return to it with a smile when I remember
People calling this game easy and saying they could do this. No. No, you can't. This game isn't as hard as the original MTPO, but characters like Hoy Quarlow will make normal gamers want to rip their hair out. And blindfolded? I can't even take a piss blindfolded. So damn impressive.
I know this comment is 4 years old but i actually find this game to be harder than the original. Maybe its because ive put 80 hours into that game. Not very much though and my super punch out time is far worse.
Sinister1 reaches the special boss Mike Tyson after conquering the world circuit... Blindfolded. (Punch Out!!) Zallard1 beats Nick Bruiser the final boss of Super Punch Out and with no damage taken. Damn.
Laughing at people in comments calling this run easy. Sure, it may be a bit easier than MTPO, but SERIOUSLY, THIS GAME IS FUCKING HARD WITH YOUR EYES OPEN. Zallard is a fucking god for beating it blindfolded, and if its so easy why doesn't someone else do it? I rest my case.
People, you mean one person. MTPO is indeed a bit harder, but not by as much as the person that was being trolley said. Speed running any game blind folded and completing it is a feat in itself. I do not know off any game that is still easy if you are playing it with a blindfold.
This game is a breeze with your eyes open. I tried it blindfolded just for fun once, with no practice at all I made it to Bald Bull, which I know big deal. But non blindfolded I can beat the whole game without hardly even taking a hit. Then again I've been playing it for like 20 years. Lol
***** Why is it there! haha See if they have a storage unit with any copies of Hagane for Snes! rare one right there and distribute them amongst the populace for a fair price so this game can be played.
This is ridiculous! I couldn't believe what I was watching! Probably the most impressive run I've ever seen. I was sitting there screaming like a little kid because I know how hard that game is with your eyes open and this guy did it blindfolded. RIDICULOUS!!!
Wow, worth watching multiple times as the second time through it is fantastic to just watch the expressions from the audience as zallard1 goes through the game. Unbelievable really.
man this are the type of runs I like to watch now, so many games are played fast that just doesn't seem that amazing anymore. We need more blindfolded runs or handicapped runs or something other than running the game fast.
There are challenge categories of speedruns, but I suspect that's not quite what you're talking about, is it? Maybe look into the Tetris Grandmaster vids? Those to me had a pretty different air to them than standard speedruns.
No shit, that's one of the coolest things I have ever seen done. I kept expecting you to get beat later in the game, I am amazed at what I just witnessed. Hats off dude.

And bring a cane
Or spitting in eyes, juggling balls, elbows, whipping hair or grabbing lol
