Stunning video - partly due to the awesome selection of the music. Goes very well the drive. Have watched this 100s of times. BTW, Utah - Should be declared as a National Monument - yes, the entire state. Wonders never cease to show up in this state.
Excellent as always. One of my favorite trips was back in January '14 when we went skiing in Park City, and i got to see this stretch of I-80. It was much colder and snow covered when we went, and still beautiful. Thats been my only trip to Utah and it was great
Excellent looking video and an absolutely amazing ride. The mountains were breathtaking, the closer you got to them. The music was perfect for the ride. Thanx for posting this.
Great job with the video! Really a lot to see in a relatively short stretch of major Interstate...from an arid landscape, busy 18 lane urban freeway, and then the spectacular drive up towards Park City. Loved the soundtrack, too.
+FreewayBrent Thanks, yes that is a great observation of the area....I came back down the canyon after this video to find my last In-N-Out meal for a while :)
Very nice ride through Salt Lake- and yes- I love how modern the highways are after the upgrades for the 2002 Winter Olympics! Very nice ride- and I love the mountains! LOVE mountain highways- there is just something about them! I cannot wait to see I-70 through Colorado- the crown jewel of the Interstates- if you ask me! Sorry it took a few days- but the vid was worth the wait!
I was in Salt Lake City when I was 16. Dad took us on a cross-country road trip that summer, and instead of coming back to Arkansas via I-40 like we went, we headed east on I-80 to I-25 then I-70. I remember the Bonneville Salt Flat, the Kennecott Open Cut Copper Mine, the Great Salt Lake, and those mountains. You definitely need to travel Utah, it is very interesting.
Awesome vid as usual. Had to go look at the map to figure out on which side of the highway the airport was plus I could understand everything better like the concurrency with I-15. SLC has some nice freeways btw. Can't wait for Colorado !
Man, I concur, that was awesome! It's funny, I stayed there briefly over 20 years ago, but never ventured on I-80 East. But I was at Job Corps, so I didn't have a choice as to where I could explore. I remember I-15/I-84 (Near Clearfield, where I resided). In any event, thanks for uploading this. Think I'll make a trip out there this Spring and explore.
Great video Jim, the rolling hills, the mountains, multiple curves where picturesque!! I notice that there where no (run away ramps) for the tractor trailers on I-80 despite how many of them use that freeway.
Thank you, there are Runaway Truck Ramps on I-80 Westbound through Parley's Canyon (which can be seen in the last part of video 16-33), it's a thrilling ride in either direction.
+J Johnson Thanks....with regard to the Bonneville Flats, the drive is ok and the surrounding scenery is very interesting, the problem is the camera could not capture it all so I saw no point in filming it.
Awesome video! Can't wait for your next one in Colorado! As I've mentioned before, I've been there 2 times now, and I just love the sweet mountain views that you get whether it would be on the interstate or US highways.
This is definitely a small sliver of the city, the whole metro stretches for about 100 miles of urban highways and landscape north to south, and very thin East to West
+it'sNotrocketScience12 I posted that comment on the I-80 section near the airport, that and the multiplex with I-15 is relatively new, I try not to bore the hell out of people by being too technical :)
Wow! You just zipped through Salt Lake City really fast! In this video, Salt Lake City looked quite small. You can easily get from downtown Salt Lake City to the mountains nearby in only about 10 minutes depending on traffic.
AirplaneGamer31 most of the Salt Lake City suburbs are along I-15, only the short belt route I-215 is south of I-80. Everything else is a state route or north of I-80.
Very true. This video shows less than 10% of the city, and not the most scenic part by any measure. The drive UP Parley's Canyon is a FUN drive, especially when there is not much traffic - you can really zip along.... I love this idea and may do the same drive on a Sunday morning when the highways are mostly deserted around here, taking away most of the distractions of the vehicles on the road. Another video driving I-15 from northern Ogden past Provo-Orem would also be a blast! Maybe even another return trip on another Sunday morning?
Where you exited on Parley's Summit, the steel square house, that place is famous, errr at least the owner was. The owner was Mies van der Rohe's structural engineer , and literally built a Miesien house. Great music with the vid. Now if I am correct, 2020 should be the first year of Utah!'s lane control laws, based on Germany's Rechtsfahrgebot.
Holy cow! The way I-80 winds through Parley's Canyon is as bad as Highway 406 goes through the Twelve Mile Creek valley in St. Catharines north of my hometown in Ontario. That's some impressive driving!
I also didnt realize Salt Lake City did a similar treatment on their roads prior to the Olympics bein held there, as Atlanta did its Freeingg the Freeways project prior to its olympics. Thats pretty cool and they did a nice job
+David Carson The Freeing the Freeways project in ATL started in the late 1970's and ended in the late 1980's, before the Olympic bid was made, there is no connection to the two, Atlanta's roads were simply antiquated and needed a massive upgrade.
hm. idk why i had the wrong information in my head. my whole life for whatever reason i had those two events correlated. thats odd. similar thing happened when my whole life i thought there was an I-565 in Nashville but the whole time the short freeway was simply designated as TN 386 and my brain had tricked me all along with the wrong information. i had that false stuff locked in my head until someone thought i was bonkers on AARoads Forum, LOL. just one of those things i guess. thanks for lettin me know.
+David Carson No prob, it happens to the best of us. Now, the HOV lane program in Atlanta was in fact implemented before and for the Olympics and thereafter.
I try to Avoid driving on I-80 in Wyoming in the winter season because snow and harsh weather conditions make it very difficult to drive. Accidents happen in that section of I-80 between Evanston and Cheyenne
I still love this vid. I was up in late july, the 201 is horrible and so is the west 215, now. Needs loads of improvement. I went to culver's at 5600 west and 3500 south after a bad t storm. Too many accidents from flooded roads. The roads are getting bad in slc, again. The people are still great

Cool video, what was the temperature like coming into Salt Lake from Nevada? The elevation on 80 from Reno to salt lake ranges from 4000 to 7000 ft, so I would imagine not as hot as I-8 & I-10 thru Arizona & California
+Freewayjim Ok, thats cooler than the 110-120 on I-8 & l-10, nice video, salt lake city has a very nice scenic backdrop , with the mountains behind it as viewed from 80 ,

No, it's there (check a map) but the freeways do not go through the center of it, unlike most cities, Phoenix is another place like that, you really don't much of a city/skyline view on some routes going through.
+Freewayjim Oh really? I had figured if you had been in Utah the were heading to Colorado, video wise, that you had went through Wyoming on I 80. My bad. :)
Even though I definitely think that the Rocky Mountains are better than the Wasatch Mountains, Parley's Canyon is still a beautiful canyon not far from Salt Lake City.
Good to see you back in my home state. I love our mountains and urban freeways. Thanks for showcasing them! Excellent video as always.
+PeteTheChopp Thank you sir!
Now that is a beautiful drive - especially the part through the canyons out of Salt Lake; simply breathtaking!
Thank you for watching.

Thank you for the comment and for watching, yes, Utah is a very beautiful state.
Hmm, must be quite interesting for the pile of wood in my backyard to be counted as part of a national monument but hey I won't complain
@@poshmalosh14 LOL. You have a beautiful state and we can agree on that one.

love this video ! the music was great and the scenery was lovely SLC looks a lovely place , look forward to seeing your next video ☺
+Sally Latham Thank you very much!
Wonderful scenery. Have to agree with other comment. Looks fairly green around there.
I have some friends that live just outside Salt Lake City. It's cool to see how the mountains back up the city as a scenery.
Excellent! Thanks! So wonderful to be able to sit here and "make the drive".
+ejud2001 Thank you for watching!
Awesome drive! That is quite the freeway upgrade. Also the descent down from the canyon have got to be nothing short of amazing.
+TheSolarcatcher Thanks, and it is, too bad the video didn't work out due to shadows and then harsh sunlight but it's definitely quite a ride.
I'm always impressed by your music selection.
+Darrius Jordan Thank you
that was just lovely... I can watch these all day......... sometimes I do! lol👍👌
+Kerley Moh LOL, Thanks!

In your defense it's kind of hard to see them on the other side, but they are there :)
