We got married in 1979 at the age of 19 in the Logan temple. Still married to the love of my life! Wish we could go back and pick different stuff for our reception starting with the baby blue tuxes for the groomsmen 😂😂
Im so glad you guys made this episode! I relate to this so much! My wedding day was chaotic, steessful and did not turn out as i pictured. I hate most of our engagment photos and wedding pictures! So its good to hear that we arnt the only ones that didnt have a joyous engagment period or wedding . If anything, It shows that the marriage as a whole is more important then 1 day. As crazy as that day was im grateful that i have my husband to go through life with .
Love this! I felt the same way with my wedding. I had just recently downloaded my wedding pictures. Due to the hurt I felt my side of the family wasn't really supportive.
Seriously appreciate you guys talking about the reality of weddings. Happy for you guys and praying for you all.

I really needed to hear this!! I feel sad when looking at some of my past memories because of different reasons and it fills me with guilt but I try to remember I did the very best I could in the situation at that time and that’s all I could have done. I’m so sorry you feel this way too. I do think it’s harder for “parent pleasers” like me who feel guilt for anything they do that wouldn’t align exactly as their parents want but they do it anyways.
Anyways, this was a beautiful reminder to me though that not everyone’s big moments are picture perfect- but it’s where we are now that matters. A marriage and beautiful kids!! And a chance to reframe it and do it over if we want!🎉

Madison- first off thank you for sharing this raw and vulnerable story, especially the part your parents played and how it affected you. I understand the feelings all too well, I basically married my Romeo 🤣 Hearing you describe your parents apprehension makes me think back to your sexual assault story you shared months ago. Do you think that experience your parents went through, not knowing of the events that occurred to you when you were child, made them super strict and closed off when you were in the season of dating/ marriage? As a mom now myself and trying to put myself in their position, I can only imagine how much I wouldn’t trust myself or my intuition especially if my child got hurt in the process. Just a thought 💙 Regardless, we all love our parents no matter the mistakes they made! Thanks again to you and Kyler for being so vulnerable.

Buy a pretty dress and have a party/vow renewal/anniversary party, and then you can even write vows if yall want! You sound super bummed Mad and I think you deserve the re-do to have beautiful photos and video to look back on and to post, because you sound heartbroken without it. Do what you want, people who truly love you will celebrate with you!🥰❤️❤️
I experienced something very similar when me and my husband decided to get married with my parents! I also have a lot of the same regrets🤦🏼♀️ but I'm glad I'm married and have my kiddos lol!
We'll be married 20 years in January and agree with so much you all discussed. Many aspects of our wedding was about making others happy or saving money. Our video was actually recorded/edited by my husband and our pictures we hired out (all film) but we only have 4x6 prints. It took about 15 years to track down the photographer to purchase the negatives.

I actually appreciate you sharing the bad moments of it all. It was similar for me because my parents never really supported my decisions either because I decided to marry someone from America very young and I am from Europe. Looking back on those memories if anything I get angry and I don’t even want to talk about it all because it was more painful than anything else. Even though now they support me 100% and are so happy for me, they kind of ruined the whole process because of their selfish behavior.
I think love can’t be explained and if your kids feel so strongly then you should support them no matter what. Even if it all fails.
Thank you for the realness ! It’s easy to look at people and think their whole life was perfect and experiences but that’s not normal and makes us all feel better that we’re all human ❤

My esthetician teacher went had her wedding photos taken way after her wedding, why not just redo pictures, not a real ceremony, just a chance to have wedding photos, with new bridesmaid dresses and flower girls?
I will say you both are the worst wedding planners….But you have 5 children to help plan there weddings. 🌸
